About the course If you’re interested in areas such as sport coaching, sport development and sport management, then this course is an excellent choice for you. Enhancing your employability through work placements and internship opportunities is a key part of this course. You’ll be assigned your own personal tutor to support you continuously and help structure your personal development and career planning.
Course fees: It depends what subject you combine Sport and Exercise Studies with. If you combine it with a classroom-based subject, it will cost £9,945 per year*. If you combine it with a resource-intensive subject or a specialist subject it will cost £10,225 per year*. This is the start of your career so achieving a good degree and gaining employability skills along the way are key. Recent graduates have secured jobs in coaching, sport development, the fitness industry, sport management or sport media and marketing. You could teach physical education at primary or secondary level by completing relevant postgraduate training, or study our MRes in Sport and Exercise, to gain skills in teaching and research, with the potential to progress to PhD level.

What you’ll cover
There are opportunities to gain National Governing Body coaching awards in a range of sports that will develop your confidence, leadership skills and employability. You’ll also benefit from masterclass sessions from sport and exercise professionals about their experiences and career development. You can test and measure health and fitness and utilise computer software packages to analyse the results of performance in our new labs. You can also get involved with Team Derby which covers our courses, sports clubs, facilities and the Athletics Union.
You can combine Sport and Exercise Studies with one or even two other subjects that are offered here at our Derby Campus to create your own joint honours degree. Popular combinations include Dance and Movement Studies, Education Studies, Psychology, Criminology, Maths and Business Management. The modules you’ll study will depend on how you decide to combine the subjects you choose.
