Sport Psychology (Joint Honours) Where you will study: Buxton Campus. This is our second campus and is 1 hour’s drive away from our main campus in Derby. Entry requirements: Academic – 260-280 UCAS tariff points, of which at least 160 must be from your International Baccalaureate or equivalent qualification. Language – A qualification such as IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in all areas) or TOEFL – 550 (paper based), 213 (computer based), 80 (internet based). About the course This programme will develop your knowledge and skills in sports psychology. You will be taught by elite athletes and applied sport psychology practitioners. Our team have coached World, European and Ryder Cup champions, as well as working as consultants on the European Golf Tour and have written books and academic papers.

How you’ll learn You will learn using a range of methods including lectures, seminars, lab practical, case studies and problem solving, student-led research activity, group-work and discussions, software applications, and visits and observations. You will be encouraged to use the knowledge and skills you've gained to evaluate and analyse different issues and draw conclusions based on your own thoughts and research. You will have the chance to do a work placement towards the end of your second year.

Your career Why choose this course? ▪ This programme can be combined with Sport Coaching, Sports Massage and Exercise Therapies, or Sport Development, which means that you will study two subject areas, giving you a great range of knowledge and skills for your future career. ▪ You will be taught by our experienced tutors who work with Olympic, World, European, and Commonwealth Champions in cycling, martial arts, golf, athletics and motor racing.

This course will allow you to become a performance psychologist with sports teams and elite athletes. However, if you want to follow a career as an accredited Sport and Exercise Psychologist, you can become accredited through the British Psychological Society (BPS).
