May 4, 2013 <Salutation> <First Name> <Last Name> <Street> <City>, <State> <Zip> Dear <Greeting>, For most youth transitioning out of the foster care system, attending college is only a dream. But for those who have persevered and beaten the odds, you have stepped in to make sure they have the necessary supplies, caring support and encouragement needed for college success. Your past support of Just in Time’s College Bound program has helped hundreds of former foster youth pursue their dreams of a brighter future. Youth like Guadalupe, who despite having eight different placements during her nine years in foster care, still has this dream: My desire is not just to become a teacher; I wish to become the best teacher a young child can have. I believe that children with the right knowledge will become the world’s most precious resource. It is within their minds where ideas flourish to improve our world, therefore, I must educate myself, so I can educate them. I, like you, share Guadalupe’s belief that our children are our most precious resource and, through education, they will flourish and change the world. In fact, my life in public service began as a teacher in the Sweetwater Union High School District, so I know firsthand the value of education and the positive impact someone like Guadalupe can make in our community. The County has been a supporter of Just In Time since its inception and continues to grow the partnership to provide basic needs for emancipated foster youth. We will join together once again on June 8th and June 22nd, to celebrate over 75 College Bound youth. As a past supporter, you know the rewards of seeing these youth begin a new chapter in their lives. Please share with me this opportunity to once again shape the future of our young people. On behalf of the San Diego County Board of Supervisors, Just in Time for Foster Youth, and the hundreds of College Bound youth you have supported and will continue to support, thank you! Sincerely, Greg Cox, Chairman San Diego County Board of Supervisors P.S. Your past support of College Bound has helped hundreds of former foster youth pursue their educational dreams to create a brighter future. Please take a moment to make a gift or volunteer today!
