As I mentioned previously, there was a change to Michigan’s No-Fault law which has devastating implications for motorcyclists. Since July 1, 2020 persons applying for or renewing their auto insurance are given a choice to cap their medical expense coverage at $50,000.00; $250,000.00; $500,000.00; or to keep unlimited benefits. THE DEVASTATING IMPLICATION: When a motorcyclist is involved in an accident with a motor vehicle, the motorcyclist is bound by the cap that the motorist chose

for himself/herself on his/her own auto policy!

As an attorney representing injured motorcyclists, I drafted House Bill 4809 that would allow injured motorcyclists to instead seek payment of their no-fault benefits from their own auto insurance, hence get the benefit of their own choice. Bills have also been introduced to fix the damage that no fault reform did to medical providers. Now is the time to contact you legislators to support HB 4809 to right the wrong done to motorcyclists!
