(COLUMBUS AREA VINTAGE) The Columbus Area Vintage Motorcycle Group on Facebook, now over 1200 members strong, has become the hub of vintage motorcycling activity in central Ohio. Dennis Moore, CAVMG administrator, began the group in May, 2017, after conversations with local owners and enthusiasts upon restoring his own 1970 Honda CB350. They were looking for a place to share information, experiences, photos, videos, hints and ideas in real time with others sharing a common love of owning, riding and wrenching vintage motorcycles.
Triumphs and were looking for advice and resources. Within a couple hours, 6 different members had suggestions, offers of help, and information about resources provided by others.”
Today the group is a one stop forum for discussion and activities in central Ohio, coordinating various bike nights (see schedule below) and other events, organizing weekend rides to Ohio destinations, providing sources for parts and service, and general discussion on all things concerning vintage motorcycling. Just a few of the weekend rides so far this year have gone to Mott’s Military Museum, Cruisin’ Classics Car Dealership, & Ohio Stadium.

Upcoming events include a July 10th Bike Show, co-sponsored by Hofbrauhaus at Hofbrauhaus in Grandview Yard, a fall swap meet at Throttle Company in Columbus and various weekend rides. “I first joined CAVMG in March, 2018”, says Ken Paul, now coowner of Throttle Company Vintage Motorcycles in Columbus, but then an enthusiast. “We had purchased a couple of mid-60’s

CAVMG is known for its welcoming vibe to new and experienced riders alike. In fact, ownership of a motorcycle is not required. Women and members aged 18-34 are showing the largest growth in membership according to recent data supplied by Moore. Membership is open to anyone interested and willing to agree to the group rules.
