Mintel’s presentation will assess how ‘information’ is greatly influencing how consumers are interacting and purchasing food and drink products. It will highlight the elite communicators/brands in the food industry today and explain ‘what’ they are doing to ensure they stay ahead of the game. Brian O’Connor (Senior Analyst, Ireland) will specifically take a look at the following key areas of great importance to consumers: • Nutritional information • Ingredients • Claims • Clean label • Sustainability Within each of these areas, Mintel will highlight how brands are communicating different attributes to consumers. Mintel will look specifically at what a ‘successful brand’ looks like and provide relevant product examples. Mintel will also refer to brands that are struggling or finding it hard to communicate effectively with their target markets.

Delivered by the Labour Relations Agency this seminar will seek to explain how people and a positive employment relations climate are key to increased productivity and an organisation’s growth. Critically the seminar will demonstrate how the Labour Relations Agency can assist start-ups and SME’s who may not have a dedicated HR resource, to put in place the necessary policies, procedures and contracts of employment.

How can the Growth Deal Grow Derry? A panel of stakeholders will communicate the benefits of a Growth Deal and how active business engagement partnered with statutory bodies can ignite and drive further economic activity and growth within our council area.

ATLANTIC SOCIAL LAB STUDY VISITS (INVITATION ONLY) VARIOUS LOCATIONS

As part of the overall Atlantic Social Lab programme, Enterprise North West will host a number of local best practice social enterprise study visits for local and international social innovators. The aim of the Atlantic Social Lab programme is to develop and promote social innovation approaches and methods to give response to key growing social issues of the Atlantic Area, both within citizens, third sector and social enterprises as well as the public sector. Through an intensive transnational cooperation, the partners will implement and test small probing innovative interventions to finally scale them up within their own regions. This project is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund through the Interreg Atlantic Area Programme and delivered locally by Enterprise North West alongside other European partners.

For many enterprises the biggest challenge is to be able to keep a balance between delivering and selling. Too often we do one to the neglect of the other, with all too familiar consequences. This workshop looks at the sales process and builds on this to provide practical tools for effectively creating and implementing a healthy and productive sales pipeline. This will include a number of key activities including forecasting, metrics, qualification, phasing and action planning.

Now in its second year, the £10k Business Start-up Challenge is a competition developed by Derry City and Strabane District Council to: • Reward creativity and innovative business ideas that will benefit the local economy • Inspire, encourage and develop the spirit of entrepreneurship and enterprise in the council area • Provide assistance both financially and via specialised business support to entrepreneurs that have demonstrated the ability to create jobs and export their products into new markets Seven businesses have now been shortlisted to pitch their ideas in front of an audience and judging panel to be in with the chance of winning: First Prize - £2,500 Second Prize - £2,000 Third Prize - £1,500 Runner up prizes (x4) - £1,000 each Come along and vote for your favourite pitch!

Applicants have been shortlisted and will now pitch for a prize package of £1,200.
