Annual Guildhall Craft Fair

“Our Shared Musical Heritage” to Celebrate the Music City 2014 designation. This talk will be jointly-delivered by Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin and the Londonderry Bands Forum and will showcase the growing relationship between the Irish and Ulster-Scots musical communities in the city, best typified by the generous and open-hearted engagement which took place in the lead-up to, and during Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann 2013 and the Walled City Tattoo.

The Big Christmas Switch-on! Venue: Guildhall Square & Waterloo Place Date: 20th November Time: Music from 6.30pm. Lights Switch-on 7pm The Christmas lights will be illuminated on Thursday november 20th at 7pm, when the big switch-on ceremony returns to its traditional venue with some very special guests! This year the fun will be spread across three city centre areas. ❅ Santa and his little helpers will switch on the lights in Guildhall Square ❅ elsa and Friends from ‘Frozen’ will light up Waterloo Place ❅ The Foyle Street Peace Garden will be illuminated as a Frozen Forest with entertainment and special guests! Pick your area from the three above, get there early and enjoy the fun!

Fashion Fest Venue: Various Date: 20th - 23rd November Admission: Various Fashion fever hits the city for its first ever 4-day fashion extravaganza! enjoy exclusive designer fashion shows, industry insights from the experts, a unique wedding showcase, a bustling vintage fair and much more all in the city of style. Christmas Village at Ebrington

Venue: Ebrington Square, with world famous Spiegeltent date: 28th November - 21st December Time: Mon - Thurs: 4pm - 10pm, Fri - Sun: 12noon - 10pm Prepare to be transfixed by our brand new Christmas Village, open at Ebrington from Friday 28th November. This new festive offer will see the expansive shared space transformed with Christmas markets offering a wide variety of delicious seasonal fayre and some cracker gift ideas, as well as a dedicated bar hosted in our special Spiegeltent!! Also enjoy our pop-up Christmas Cinema – The Festive Film Factory – hosting daily screenings for all ages at 12noon, 2.30pm, 5pm and 8pm over the Christmas period. don’t forget about the Festive Funfair, which will complete the magical experience - fun for all the family!

Music City Finale!

To see out 2014 - our Music City year - in style, there will be live music in our Spiegeltent every Friday and Saturday night at the Christmas Village. Spanning pop, folk, rock, jazz, local bands plus visiting acts, there will be plenty of entertainment for everyone to enjoy over the festive season. So sit back with a mulled wine or a delicious hot chocolate, and enjoy live music and entertainment during the weekends leading up to Christmas. What better way to get you into the festive mood!

Children’s Festive Frolics Weekenders Venue: Citywide Date: 6th, 7th, 13th & 14th December Time: 1pm - 5pm Admission: £1 per Child younger members of the family will be well catered for in the city centre with special themed activities that will let them experience the Wonder of Christmas, starting in the Craft Village and venturing right through the city centre, on december 6th & 7th, 13th & 14th, 1pm-5pm each day. Costing just £1 per child, there will be storytelling, arts and crafts, puppet shows and much, much more to keep your little darlings entertained.

Silent Night by Padraig Coyle Venue: The Playhouse Theatre Date: 11th – 13th December Time: 8pm Admission: £5 December 1914. The first winter of the War to end all Wars. Belfast born Waldemar Heineger has been posted to le Bizet to find out what he can about enemy plans, and learns more than he was expecting. incidents from the past resurface and against the backdrop of the major military campaign more personal issues have to be resolved. As the season of the nativity approaches, he has to decide between duty and loyalty. Which comes first – his country or his family? The annual Mayor’s Christmas Concert will feature stunning performances from Codetta and the City of derry Junior and youth Choirs, as well as a live orchestra and solo performances guaranateed to get you and your family geared up for the festive season! Proceeds raised through donations on the night will go to the Mayor’s Charities – Something Special and Circle of Support. Tickets can be purchased at the Guildhall.
