Welcome to the Foyle Maritime Festival in association with the Clipper 2015-16 Round the World Yacht Race! As one of the designated ports for the Clipper Race, the city will be transformed into an international marina from 9th-17th July to host the 12 Clipper Race yachts and their crews. All of this year’s seafaring action will be set to a spectacular backdrop of live music, street performances, fantastic food and a surprise or two…! The Clipper 2015-16 Race arrives…

After travelling over 40,000 nautical miles around the world, the Clipper Race Yachts return to the City for the homecoming party of the year. Join us on Queen’s Quay as we give our own team Derry-Londonderry-Doire and all of the Clipper Race teams the rousing welcome they deserve. Skippered by Daniel Smith, #TeamDLD have done the city and region proud in their recordbreaking trip around the world, and included the five winners of our bursary places David Pollock, Conor Shortland, Jilly St. John, Shane Brunker and Danny Bryce. As well as welcoming the fleet of the world’s longest ocean race, the festival will enable marine enthusiasts and visitors alike to enjoy a treasure trove of activities. All of the seafaring action will be set to a buzzing backdrop of markets, the Legenderry Eye Big Wheel and the Let’s Get Curious Kids’ Zone. NB. Arrival date and times are dependent on race and weather conditions.

Fri 8th ~ Wed 13th July • 12noon ~ 8pm daily Families will get into the spirit of all things nautical in this creative zone where would-be captains, pirates and mermaids can design their own boats, make costumes for their crews and flags for their boats! Get snapped in the nautical photo booth, paint pebbles and shells to make nautical hanging mobiles. Let’s not forget that all-important pirate map - help us find hidden treasure on Queen’s Quay.

A LegenDerry Finale
Clipper Race Prize-giving & Celebration Wed 13th July • 7pm • Guildhall Square Seo Linn will headline an evening of music and dance which the public are invited to come along and be part of to officially welcome the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race to the city and celebrate the achievements of the winning teams for Race 12 from New York to Derry entitled ‘The LegenDerry Finale’.
With a YouTube following garnering 18 million views they are renowned for their unique take on Gaeilge versions of chart-topping hits. They are the official ambassadors of Seachtain na Gaeilge 2016, during which they proudly translated the massive global hit, Thinking Out Loud for none other than Ed Sheeran to record.
This will be the first time that the crew prize giving event for the Clipper Race has been public facing and it promises to be a momentous occasion. Fingers crossed our home team Derry-LondonderryDoire are placed in the top three for their homecoming race but regardless of race position there’s no doubt they’ll receive the biggest cheer of the evening when they take to the stage!
One special moment promises to be when Seo Linn play their version of Avicii’s ‘Wake me Up’ which went viral for them on YouTube and is coincidently the team song for our own team Derry-Londonderry –Doire. Expect a highlight moment of the festival and keep your eyes peeled for some surprises, anything could happen!
Seo Linn burst onto the Irish music scene a few years ago with a powerful sound that encapsulates a traditional sense of Irishness through the medium of contemporary, high octane, rhythmic music in what we can only describe as a treat for your ears.

The ‘Night of the Two Moons’ brings together land, water, aerial performance, light, music and fireworks in a world class spectacle that will be talked about for years to come, just like Sunniva herself. In the evenings leading up to her departure, Sunniva and her exotic people will perform, in procession, through the festival as they prepare themselves for the journey ahead. Music City 2016 Mon 4th ~ Sun 11th July •
Music City 2016 will see the city become one giant performance space with hundreds of musical performances of all genres across the streets, squares, neighbourhoods, venues, churches, offices and workplaces involving local, national and international performers of all ages and backgrounds. This year’s festival will feature a special homecoming gig from Mercury Music Prize nominee and Choice Music Prize winner Soak. Other headliners include rock sensations The Strypes, David Kitt, Girls Names, Overhead the Albatross and stars of ‘America’s Got Talent’, The Willis Clan. As always, the festival will provide a platform for the wonderful musical talent of the city and region including Paddy Nash & The Happy Enchiladas, Britannia Band, Triggerman, Jessica Doherty and Touts. With the Music City Busking Competition opening up the streets as a stage, musicians can take their performances from their bedroom to the stage and be in with a chance of winning cash prizes of up to £1000. The Riptide Movement

Four Men and a Dog Thurs 14th July Festival Village
Four Men & A Dog are true legends of Irish music. Their fiery sets are second to none. Each musician is recognised as one of the foremost on his instrument anywhere in traditional music - most notably fiddler Cathal Hayden and frontman Gino Lupari who is one of Irish music’s great characters - a true performer who engages and draws audiences into the show wherever the band play worldwide.

Charts on its first week of release. The Nameless has more of Cathy’s personality in it than any of her previous work, and the effect is astonishing. There’s a darkness here that is more prominent than before, but it’s coupled expertly with songs as fine as anything she’s ever written.
Create a swashbuckling sword at pirate-themed workshops, enjoy some fishy business creating creatures from the deep or listen to magical stories of mermaids and the daring sea voyages. Driving to the Event
If you are driving to the event, or are being dropped off, then you are asked to note the following information: In addition to the city centre car parks, a Park & Stride/Drop Off area will be available at the Fort George site, accessed off Pennyburn Roundabout. There is also a Park & Stride operating at Ebrington, assessed off the Limavady road. For safety reasons, it will be necessary to introduce traffic management and parking restrictions at various times during the event. For more detail visit the festival website or tune into BBC Radio Foyle and Q102.9 fm for latest updates.
Drivers are reminded that normal on street parking restrictions will be in place and that they should avoid parking anywhere where they may be blocking entrances to residences or businesses or were they may be obstructing emergency access.
First Aid
St. John’s Ambulance will be in attendance to provide first aid cover during the event and there will be sign posted first aid points throughout the festival site.
Information & Welfare
Welfare facilities on site will include Info points and ticketing points and toilets. There will also be a Mother and Baby / Quiet area located at the back of the Festival Village beside the Council Offices. All facilities will be sign posted and stewards/ event staff will be able to provide direction.
Accessibility
We will have various facilities in place to assist disabled people. These will include; wheelchair accessible toilets; accessible viewing areas and a designated drop off point. Dedicated staff will be on duty at all disabled access facilities on the day. Blue Badge holders should use available public, accessible car parking spaces.

The event organisers have thought of absolutely everything nautical and nice. Try your hand at our Hook the Duck and enjoy our maritime themed animation. There is a mother and baby area among the familyfriendly facilities.

Du Pont ‘Float Your Boat’ DuPont is the title sponsor of the Foyle Maritime Festival 2016 and, in association with Footsteps Theatre Company, they have launched an outreach programme entitled, ‘DuPont Float Your Boat’ which is aimed at Key Stage 2 students across Northern Ireland. As well as being one of Derry~ Londonderry’s most significant employers, DuPont is also a huge advocate of the STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) subjects in schools and the company has, for many years, rewarded some of the county’s brightest young minds via STEM-inspired secondary school initiatives. Paul Kirkpatrick, Organisation Manager, DuPont, said: “We’re so pleased to be working with the Derry City & Strabane District Councils to deliver a fun, engaging and free education programme to primary school children from across Derry~Londonderry.
