7th & 8th May 2016 Welcome to our annual event to mark the 71st anniversary of the surrender of the U-Boats, a major event in Second World War history.

Tower Museum 10am – 5 pm Saturday 7th of May: 10am – 12pm: Display of Curt Melton B-17 Objects & Photographs, plus video footage 1 2pm: ‘3 of a Kind: U-boat Aces’ – Ronan Mc Connell, Archivist DCSDC 1:30pm: ‘Meltin’ Pot: The B-17 Bomber in the Foyle’ – Danny Keenan, Local Diver 3pm: ‘Eglinton, Maydown (and Muff) - Aviation on and close to Lough Foyle in two world wars’ - Guy Warner, Historian Sunday 8th of May: 10am – 12pm: Display of Curt Melton B-17 Objects and Photographs, plus video footage 1 2am: ‘Rags, Rashers and Rationing’ – Kirsty Osborn, Assistant Archivist DCSDC 1:30pm: ‘Derry and the Second World War’ – Roy Hamilton, Historian 3pm: ‘The Foyle: A Hinge of History’ – Richard Doherty, Historian Talks are free to attend. Guildhall Square: 10am - 5pm • Full size replica Spitfire on display from the Ulster Aviation Society: climb inside the cock pit, experience what it was like to be a pilot, create your own photo opportunity for £3 • Display of wartime large scale artefacts by War Years Remembered • UXB Bomb Disposal by Jonny McNee, Historian
