Space of Cultivation (Birdwatching structure in Eymir lake) Aim of the programme was to rethink the Eymir lake as a space of cultivation, resulting programme was to design a construction for birdwatchers in Eymir lake, METU campus, Ankara. According to analysis birdwatching is an activity among people which in particular social class (educated). As such, whole design process was changed in a way that the idea of deconstruction of the functional codes of the city was come forward . Same problemmatic situation is available also in METU campus. It had been isolate8d from the city since the establishment and its members had carried their study isolated from Ankara (except from the revolutionarist movement, but it has also dissappeared with time).
Therefore, this problemmatic spatial organization of the METU campus is threatening the sustainability of the Academy (by conicts with Ankara itself). The city has compressed and sumperimposed with the campus.
.
Second issue is about the nature of the METU campus. Three-quarters of the territory of the METU consist of planted trees. It has own unique spatial qualities because of it deďŹ nes natural borders between the city and also with the campus .

Second issue is about the nature of the METU campus. Three-quarters of the territory of the METU consist of planted trees. It has own unique spatial qualities because of it deďŹ nes natural borders between the city and also with the campus. The territory has been reserved to the nature.
Eymir lake acts as a third space among these spatial relation. It acts like a public space compared with the campus and METU forest, and also it protects its own natural quality.
Programme of the construction is about to whole problemmatic issue of the Eymir lake. Therefore, context of the design is to superimposed to functional data of the city and reformulate the public space(consist of two circulation and intersection among circulation) in the nature that leads interaction between the birdwatchers and publicity of the city. Structure is covered by continious precast concrete Shell (neither mask nor a Wall that deďŹ ne spatial organization). Creation of hegemony above publicity of the interior and protect the privacy of the nature.
Lissitzky’s social condenser From Soviet constructivist theory, the social condenser is a spatial idea practiced in architecture. At the opening speech for the first OSA Group conference in 1928 Moisei Ginzburg claimed that "the principal objective of constructivism...is the definition of the Social Condenser of the age." The single building most associated with the idea is the Narkomfin Building in Moscow, begun in 1928 and finished in 1932.
starting point is ‘’surface . According the New York analysis of Rem Koolhaas; verticalityis a new way of approaching social condenser.Without walls, there are many activitiespossible.Sloping surfaces generates continious spaces interrelated with each other. The outcome is Atelier as a whole ‘’atrium’’, each volume has its own and whole relationwith the other,so that the practice come up with the vertical condensator layering as anew notion of socialization.

Design Statement The design process is composed through the analytical deconstruction of Bataille’s dualistic materialism and it’s discussion on the notion of death. Opposite concept clusters which define Bataille’s philosophy create two distinct universes in tension. The relevance of a phenomenon is analyzed through the argument with its negative. In the design process, death-space relationship is materialized through dualistic analysis strategies. Bataille’s death identification can be explained as the extinction of productive activities realized by mankind with eternal tools. “The death” , according to him is the end of productive labor, a form of formlessness. At this point, a challenging problem arises. How to interpret and integrate the notions of death (the end of labor) and formlessness as a space-making strategy. Understanding the current relation of labor and form and the accompanying space-making strategies of contemporary architecture is an important threshold in this case. The space-making strategy of labor and form concept pair in today’s cities can be explained as the continuous and greedy design of vacancies by governments. The design is also the most basic form of corrupt compromise of the art and life in our era. The architectural design tries to regulate the city by constantly producing programmatic spaces. This invasion policy of architecture increases the tension between the boundaries in our highly fragmented cities. The designated boundaries within the fragmented cities evolve into leisure spaces. They create the reconstruction areas of the cities. The strategies produced in the process of reconstruction determine the destiny of a city. Tarlabaşı in İstanbul, Turkey, a designated reconstruction area forming a boundary within the city, is chosen as the project site. In terms of cultural transformation, Tarlabaşı is a significant neighborhood in a metropolis like İstanbul. A former memory space populated by Greeks, Tarlabaşı in the last century turned into an asylum space and gradually became an urban emptiness. Afterward, with the intervention of monetary funds in the name of so-called cultural industry and reconstruction strategies, the fabric of the neighborhood was underrated as “typologically historical facades”. These actions turned Tarlabaşı into a temporary derelict city. In this context, the neighborhood acts as a narrative of invasion rather than reconstruction, due to the concept of “genius loci” and its collapse in the urban scale. The condition of Tarlabaşı is contextually reminiscent of the Detroit case. With the retreat of monetary funds and major corporations, Detroit turned into a derelict city. We can see the true example of the urban deterioration caused by economic crises and contraction beginning in mid-1970’s in the city which is located right in the middle of “rust belt” in America. This relationship with the wreckage had inevitable consequences. Abandoned buildings, empty hotels, unused train stations, bankrupt factories. In this catastrophy, photographers, designers and all sorts of artists tried to find themselves a place to increase the prominence of creative industries. The Detroit Creative Corridor Center, founded in 2010, has a clear vision; the city has all the capability and quality to become the center of global design and creative innovation. Artistry! Aesthetics! Trademark! Infrastructure! The center aims to integrate these mottos and consolidate creative community. In her 2005 book “A Field Guide to Getting Lost”, Rebecca Solnit elaborates on
