Garden Tours October 1 – May 12 | Daily Explore the Garden with an expert who will help you understand the extraordinary plants of the Sonoran Desert. This docent-led tour guides you past towering saguaros and tiny mammillarias, bizarre boojums and elegant palo verdes. Bring water and a camera, and wear a hat, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes. Birds in the Garden Mondays, October – April | 8 a.m. | Mondays, May – September | 7 a.m. Join expert birders for a morning bird walk along the Garden trails. Wildflowers at the Garden All Spring Visit the Harriet K. Maxwell Desert Wildflower Loop Trail to experience a kaleidoscope of color as desert wildflowers bloom throughout the spring. Trail closes at sunset.

Wildflower Tracking in Arizona During the months of March and April, visit the Garden’s Wildflower InfoSite at dbg.org/wildflowers to see where and when this season’s desert wildflowers are blooming around Arizona.

Now – May 8, 2016 Bruce Munro: Sonoran Light at Desert Botanical Garden showcases eight large-scale, light-based installations using an inventive array of materials and hundreds of miles of glowing fiber optics. Located throughout the Garden, British artist Bruce Munro’s site-specific exhibition reflects his personal interpretation of the Sonoran Desert. Did you know that the Garden is a Colossal Butterfly Exhibit? This spring come celebrate our native butterflies and migrating monarchs with fun activities for the whole family. Be sure to look for the more than 20 different native butterfly species fluttering throughout the Garden.

Meet the Caterpillars Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays March 5 – May 14 | 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. Center for Desert Living Trail Included with membership or paid Garden admission. Come meet the caterpillars that turn into our beautiful Arizona butterflies. On display are caterpillars and chrysalises collected from the Garden. Watch them eat their favorite host plants, molt into delicate chrysalises, and, if you are lucky, emerge as magnificent butterflies.

Butterfly Walks Saturdays, March 12 – April 16 | 9:30 a.m. Included with membership or paid Garden admission. Take a walk with a naturalist to learn more about butterflies in the Garden, hunt for caterpillars, and discover what to plant to create your own butterfly garden. Limit 25. Meet in the Ottosen Entry Garden.

Butterfly Garden in a BoxTM Planting your own butterfly garden? The best plants for butterflies are all in one place at the Spring Plant Sale March 19 and 20. Butterfly Garden in a BoxTM provides gardeners with the essentials for a backyard butterfly garden: nectar plants, host plants (food for the caterpillars), and wildflower seeds, along with planting instructions. Celebrating 25 Years of Paintings by Dyana Hesson January 29 – May 22, 2016 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. | Daily Ottosen Gallery in Dorrance Hall Included with membership or paid Garden admission. The Desert Botanical Garden is pleased to present a retrospective exhibition celebrating the career of botanical artist Dyana Hesson. Hesson is known for her radiant, detailed oil paintings of botanicals — roses, hibiscus, orchids, bromeliads, succulents and cactus flowers. Dogs’ Day in the Garden Come. Sit. Play.

Saturday, January 23 | 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Included with membership or paid Garden admission. $4 admission per dog, with proceeds benefiting the Arizona Humane Society. The Garden has gone to the dogs! Bring the whole family, dogs included, to the Garden for a tail-wagging good time! Go for a walk on Garden trails, meet other dog lovers, heel for family photos, learn about local dog-related nonprofits, shop and enjoy samples with your pup, dine al fresco at the Patio Cafe and participate in a hands-on, canine-themed activity. All dogs must be on a leash and remain on marked trails at all times. Dogs must be up to date on all vaccinations and registrations. Handlers must pick up after their dogs and properly dispose of their waste. Desert Botanical Garden reserves the right to refuse entry to or remove any dog thought to be dangerous to other dogs or visitors. Dogs will only be admitted to the Garden between the hours of 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Dogs will not be allowed in Gertrude’s or the Garden Shop. Programming subject to change.

Rock the Presidents is a high octane, multi-media-filled, musical revue spanning 223 years of the American presidency. All the artwork from the Paintout will be on display and for sale the final weekend.
