Luxury Custom Homes: Timeless Designs Enhance Your Lifestyle Childhelp Wings: Mothers & Daughters on a Mission What’s Selling? Arcadia’s Real Estate Report
ARCADIA STUDENTS ARE “HUNGRY FOR CHANGE!”
LUXURY CUSTOM RESIDENTIAL AND BOUTIQUE COMMERCIAL ARCHITECTURE Candelaria Design reintroduces luxury living by extending their architectural services to enhance every aspect of your lifestyle through the design of beautiful, custom luxury residential homes and boutique commercial environments. Some of Candelaria Design’s most recent work is the newly remodeled El Chorro Lodge in Paradise Valley, a local favorite since 1937, and the many completed custom homes found in the Arcadia neighborhood and Paradise Valley areas. Drive down Arcadia’s well-known Exeter Boulevard and you will see at least a half-dozen Candelaria homes. Sightsee along Paradise Valley’s Tatum Boulevard and look up. Several other Candelaria projects are perched on landmark Camelback and Mummy Mountains. The new owners of the venerable El Chorro Lodge wanted to preserve and improve one of Arizona’s longest-standing restaurants. It took a talented team of designers and builders, including Candelaria Design, to keep El Chorro’s rich history and classic charm while updating to today’s technology and energy efficiencies. Mark Candelaria, managing partner of Candelaria Design said, “We took special care to embed environmental awareness into this project that is nearly undetectable to the eye. Materials were salvaged, doors and windows were updated to more efficient standards, and the tops of the buildings now capture solar energy for the restaurant’s use.” A recently completed residential project in Arcadia
(picture shown below) was inspired by the client’s desire for a Texas Hill Country Manor. Many of the materials and design influences came directly from Hill Country homes of central Texas. Candelaria Mark Candelaria added, “Every design is a reflection of each client’s dream for their home. We strive to enhance their lifestyle through designs that embrace timeless elegance with modern technology. For this home, we took the time to travel to the region with the homeowners to study the designs and materials used and to understand the feelings and spirit of the home they desired.” Known for their diversity, Candelaria Design’s portfolio showcases everything from Contemporary to Traditional; Santa Fe to Old World; Log and Timber to French Country. Mark Candelaria has 30 years of architecture and design experience and is known as one of the top architects in his field to date. He was named one of the top 124 designers in the United States by Western Interiors magazine and Master of the Southwest by Phoenix Home & Garden magazine in 2005. Founded in 1999, Candelaria Design recently celebrated 10 years of design service throughout Arizona, the western United States, Mexico and Canada. Candelaria currently works with a team of architects and designers he has hand selected for their talent, experience and dedication to superior design. Their one hope? That these timeless designs enrich the lives of their clients and community and inspire excellence for generations to come.
Give up small change for a big change – donate YOUR CHANGE! EVERY FRIDAY IN APRIL. Back in January of 2002, four Arcadia High School students wanted to help their fellow students gain access to meaningful, fun service opportunities and encourage students to be life-long participants in giving back to the community – and Club Imprints was born.
START TO CHANGE Sponsored by The Williams Community Foundation, the “Hungry for Change!” High School program was started by Dan Williams, president and young entrepreneur in real estate who has created a unique model of integrating philanthropy into real estate through The Williams Real Estate Company. A portion of each successful transaction is donated to over 15 worthy Arizona charities. Williams’ organization has already donated $350,000 to local charities.

The Wings program was established by Childhelp in Los Angeles in 1982. Wings, a group made up of mothers and daughters, grew and flourished serving California for many years. The group was re-established with a new chapter here in Arizona, under the leadership of Carol Hebets and has been serving our community since September 2006.
GIRLS WITH WINGS The Wings girls will also have many opportunities for self-improvement including etiquette, safety, self-image, and much more. Each year includes the annual fundraiser and presentation to the community. This year it was the Childhelp Wings Enchanted Kingdom and Fashion Show at the Arizona Biltmore where attendees enjoyed performances by the Valley Youth Theater, and community funds were raised through silent and live auctions. The young girls of Childhelp Wings were celebrated for their numerous volunteer hours, and they themselves worked the runway in the latest spring fashions!
