ove over standard stainless steel kitchen sink! Have we got a plethora of new sink styles that will bowl you over. From multi-function basins with built-in work stations to out-of-the-ordinary colors and materials, sinks have a come a long way. Who knew washing the dishes could be so much fun?

Located in Washington, Iron, and Kane Counties in southwestern Utah, Zion National Park encompasses some of the most scenic canyon country in the United States. Within its 229 square miles are high plateaus, a maze of narrow, deep, sandstone canyons, and the Virgin River and its tributaries. Zion also has 2,000-foot Navajo Sandstone cliffs, springs, and waterfalls supporting lush and colorful hanging gardens. With an elevation change of about 5,000 feetfrom the highest point at Horse Ranch Mountain (at 8,726 feet) to the lowest point at Coal Pits Wash (at 3,666 feet), Zion’s diverse topography leads to a variety of habitats and species. Neighboring ecosystems—the Mojave Desert, the Great Basin, and the Rocky Mountains—are also contributors to Zion’s abundance. The NPS Mission The National Park Service preserves unimpaired the natural and cultural resources and values of the National Park System for the enjoyment, education, and inspiration of this and future generations. The Park Service cooperates with partners to extend the benefits of natural and cultural resource conservation and outdoor recreation throughout this country and the world. Source: nps.gov/zion

Today’s most innovative kitchen sinks are designed with multi-tasking in mind. Just think of how you use your kitchen sink: You wash and prep food, clean dishes, scrub hands, fill heavy pots with water, and so much more. You may even have more than one cook in the kitchen at meal times. And that means more than one basin is key. Sinks are now available with as many as three basins for these different tasks. Many new sinks also boast built-in features such as cutting boards, colanders, wash bins, and drainage areas integrated into the sink so water doesn’t run all over your countertops. Bye-bye big clunky drying rack! Some sinks even have removable shelves to accommodate different chores and different height users. For other homeowners, a single large farmhouse-style apron sink is the must-have style. Not only does it provide plenty of space for hand washing large items that don’t typically fit in the dishwasher, but it’s a standout design element that works in both rustic and now even modern kitchen designs. These popular size sinks come in traditional porcelain or enamel on cast iron. Colors range from classic white to black and even blues and other eye-catching hues. For more modern homes, apron sinks are now crafted from stainless steel, copper, and composite materials, a combination of natural stone such as quartz, granite, or soapstone mixed with acrylic binders. Integrated solid surface kitchen sinks that are literally one with the countertops—and therefore devoid of crevices where dirt can accumulate—are another sleek and easy-to-clean option. Other trends to look for: Trough sinks allow for several faucets so if there’s more than one cook in the kitchen each has a place to work. Secondary sinks placed in another spot offer such unique features as small, narrow basins to chill drinks and wine bottles, and smaller bar sinks which provide a cozy place to prepare cocktails. But of course, the crowning glory of your new kitchen sink is the faucet. It’s time to select an innovative hands-free faucet. You’ll be amazed at its convenience and ease of use every time you need to wash your hands or fill up that big pasta pot. Good bye germs and running faucets!

here is something intrinsically uplifting and engaging about the experience of live music. The performer shares with the audience their most personal thoughts set to song, inviting them to tap their feet or sway in time to the rhythm. A connection is formed. Until someone drops a plate or a loud talker at the next table drowns out the lyrics. Such are the pitfalls of seeing a musical act in the not-socontrolled chaos of a club or restaurant. Not everyone else is there with the same entertainment goals, not to mention manners, as you. But the avid music lover can rejoice, as there is a growing trend around the globe that banishes the bar buzz. House concerts. An invitation-only concert in someone’s home, this entertainment module brings together professional, independent musicians with appreciative, attentive fans. House concert hosts invite 20 to 50 people, depending on the size of their living room, basement or back yard, and typically provide dinner or a potluck. Borrowed or rented chairs are assembled around a makeshift stage, and the proverbial hat is passed during the show with a suggested donation of $10 to $20. All the proceeds, plus any sales of CDs and merchandise, go directly to the troubadour. While most musicians tuck house concerts into the gaps between larger gigs on their tour, some artists have abandoned the traditional club scene altogether for the intimacy and inherent music appreciation of the living room audience. Not only do they

reap the financial rewards, but new friends are made and thriving fan bases are built. Websites such as ConcertsInYourHome.com serve everyone’s interests. Troubadours are vetted and reviewed, posting their availability around the country as they fill dates on their tour. Hosts can search them out or post their preferred dates – weekends are most popular, check out artist profiles and videos, and choose the ones they think will be a good fit. If everyone you know likes country music you won’t want to book a jazz duet and expect a big turnout. Friends, family and coworkers can be notified with postcards, evites or Facebook pages. Those looking for a concert to attend in their neighborhood can use house concert sites, Meetup.com, and of course, word of mouth. House concerts are a true collaboration between artists and fans that will be music to your ears!
