Spa treatments can relieve stress and encourage body wellness. Many men and women enjoy the benefits of these health and beauty treatments as well as the overall sense of pampering that so many of us crave. However, you don’t need to visit a high-priced spa to enjoy the relaxing benefits of spa treatments. You can create your own soothing experience right in your own home. The word “spa” comes from the Latin phrase “senare per aqua” which means “to heal with water.” That being said, all you need is a bathtub, some privacy and at least an hour of uninterrupted solitude to rejuvenate your body and spirit. When transforming your home into a quiet oasis, duplicate your favorite spa’s environment. Many experts know that catering to all five of our senses creates the most soothing experience. Turn down the lights and enjoy the ambient glow of candlelight. Select your favorite soft and calming music. Aromatherapy is the practice of using scents for psychological and physical well-being. The use of
RASPBERRY PURÉE (Makes 1 cup) Ingredients 2 twelve ounce packages frozen raspberries 6 Tbs. sugar Procedure 1. Thaw raspberries. 2. Purée in blender. 3. Add sugar and purée again. 4. Strain through a fine strainer to remove the seeds. WHITE PAINT Mix 1 cup of nonfat plain yogurt with 1/4 cup skim milk, 1/2 cup sugar, and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla. The Raspberry Puree and the White Paint should be of a similar consistency, like a thin sauce. If White Paint is too thick to draw easily, thin it down with a little water. The “paintbrush” is a toothpick. The palette on which you make the design can be any sauce. Designs are made by squeezing dots or lines or circles or other designs then using the toothpick to draw designs.
essential oils, such as chamomile and lavender for relaxation, or rosemary and mint for rejuvenation, will enhance your encounter. Have at your disposal, a detoxifying tea or other herbal beverage that you enjoy. Lastly, indulge your sense of touch with thick, fluffy towels and a cozy bathrobe to engulf your body in gentle warmth. Most spa menus include treatments for the skin, face, body, hair and nails. Determine which treatments you’re most interested in and begin your journey to well-being. You can enhance your home spa experience with a massage. If you can’t enlist the soothing hands of another, you can use a self-massaging tool to loosen up tight muscles and promote circulation. Or, if you’re really in the mood to indulge, hire a trained massage therapist to come to your home for a professional massage. Your home spa experience shouldn’t be a one-time event. Reward yourself at least once or twice a month with a relaxing experience to soothe your body and soul. You’re worth it!
To reduce oiliness: Whip one egg with a spoonful of honey and a few drops of lemon juice. The egg white helps in extracting the oil, the vitamin A in the yolk helps heal blemishes, and the lemon acts as an astringent. Leave on for 10-15 minutes and rinse with cool water. To firm skin: Whisk together a spoonful each of honey and glycerin with an egg white and a few pinches of flour to create a paste. Massage onto skin and let rest for 10-15 minutes. Rinse with cool water.
Home Inspection: Your Guide To Better Home Maintenance Are you planning a spring cleaning and updating of your home? If so, you might want to consider getting your home inspected. A home inspection performed by a licensed professional isn’t simply reserved for real estate transactions. Many homeowners use this service as a smart and inexpensive maintenance option for their existing home. “Spring is the perfect time for a home inspection,” says Joe Corsetto, President of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI), even if you’re not planning on selling. With summer coming, if your home needs maintenance, the best time to get it done is now. A home inspection allows you to find any issues your house might have before they lead to problems. An inspector will find potential leaks, cracks and other wear and tear that could lead to major problems – perhaps even safety issues – before they progress further. A comprehensive home inspection can help you prioritize the maintenance and upkeep of your home. Remember, it is often more cost efficient to repair a system now than to replace it later. When was the last time you were in the attic, on the roof, etc. A professional home inspector can evaluate all the major structural elements
and installed systems of your home and provide you with an independent written opinion about their condition. Although you can target specific areas of your home to be inspected by specialists, such as an HVAC contractor for your heating and cooling system or a roofing inspector for your roof, you might want to consider getting a full inspection done. It’s just more cost effective. If you had each area inspected individually, it would cost much more than having a home inspector come in and look at everything. There are basically two kinds of home inspectors, those who do a visual-only examination of the home and those who use high-tech equipment. The more gadgetry the inspector uses, the higher the fees will be. Harkness suggests that you go with the high-tech inspector only if you have specific concerns, for example you’ve had previous leaks or mold issues. These are things that the equipment will pick up that a visual inspection might not. When choosing a home inspector, hire one who is certified. The Arizona Board of Technical Registration (btr.state.az.us) can help you determine if someone is certified. You can also find certified home inspectors through the ASHI’s website (ashi.org).
When you arrange for a full inspection of your home, ASHI recommends you ensure that the following major areas of your home are inspected: • Structure - including basements and crawl spaces • Exterior surfaces - including siding, decks and grading of soil • Roof coverings • Plumbing systems • Electrical systems • Heating and air conditioning systems • Interior surfaces and components • Insulation and ventilation • Fireplaces and chimneys You’ll also want to find out how long the inspector has been in business, what kind of inspection is offered and how many inspections has he or she been on? It only takes a handful of inspections to become certified, but it’s to your advantage to hire an inspector with hundreds, if not thousands, of inspections under his or her belt. Your home is your oasis; make sure that it stays that way with a spring home inspection performed by a certified professional.
You Should Have A Home Inspected If: • You Are A Home Buyer – Would you buy the home if you knew it needed a new roof or had serious mold issues? • You Are A Home Seller – Know what you need to repair before listing your home. • You Are A Homeowner – Keep up with the maintenance of your home. • You Are Buying Foreclosed Property – Many banks sell foreclosed homes “as is.” Discover what you’re getting yourself into before you buy.

As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.
