California Roll California Roll (makes one roll): 2/3 cup prepared sushi rice 1/4 cup cucumber, 1/4” diced 1/3 cup snow crab mix (see below) 1 T. Tobiko caviar vegetable spray Take a 5” ring mold and spray it with vegetable spray. Set ring mold in the center of plate. Place rice into the ring mold. Use a metal spoon (soup spoon) dipped in water and lightly pack down rice. Evenly distribute diced cucumber over the rice. Place the crab mixture on top of the cucumber. Use spoon to spread the crab into an even layer. Spread the Tobiko evenly over the top of the crab. Gently pull the ring mold off. Garnish: Krzami Knori, seaweed strips 1/4 avocado, fanned 2 pieces snow crab leg meat 10-12 stems daikon radish sprout 1/2 tsp. pink ginger 2 Tbs. soy wasabi sauce 1 tsp. sesame oil 2 tsp. Sriracha sauce 1/4 tsp. toasted black and white sesame seeds

In 1909, Henry Ford introduced the Model T, and so began America’s love affair with the automobile. By the 1970s, driving your first car was a right of passage into adulthood and the American car was a symbol of freedom and patriotism. But times have changed. With the advent of personal technology, popular culture expert Peter Latham of the University of Iowa suggests that cars are no longer the cultural icons they used to be. Today’s youth are more “like walking cyborgs with all these things (iPods, wireless cell phones) attached to them,” he says. “Cars have become functional. They are not statements anymore. Electronics are.” But there are still those who revere their ride, treating it with love and care like a family pet. For those who still relish automotive freedom – from classic cars, like the Mustang, to luxury vehicles, such as the Bentley – the call of the open road still beckons. So where do you find these like-minded enthusiasts? Auto clubs! Auto clubs tend to focus on a specific make or model of car, as the list of local auto clubs below illustrates. Membership in a specialty auto club opens the door to a whole new world of automotive culture, where you can gather with others who love their rides as much as you do to trade stories, share good times and possibly swap a wrench or two. Here is a short selection of automotive clubs available in the San Antonio area:

Gently place the Knori onto the rice all around the roll. Place the avocado fan on top of the roll with the curved part of the avocado facing outwards. Lay the crab legs against the avocado fan slightly crossed and creating as much height as possible and then lay the sprouts against the crab legs. Roll the ginger into a flower shape and place against the sprouts. Drizzle the soy wasabi, sesame oil and Sriracha on the plate, around the roll. Sprinkle the whole thing with the sesame seeds. Snow Crab Mix (makes 2 rolls): 6 1/2 oz. snow crab meat 2 1/2 Tbs. mayonnaise pinch white pepper 1 tsp. sesame oil pinch kosher salt Place all ingredients in a clean bowl and mix until well combined.

There are a lot of events and auto shows as part of the annual event schedule, as well as opportunities to mix and mingle with fellow Corvette lovers. Don’t miss the annual Bluebonnet Run & BBQruise, or the Run to the Alamo. Monthly meetings offer even more chances to connect.

This non-profit club makes a point to donate to local charities and holds monthly meetings. The club has also hosted the AutoRama Car Show since 2003. San Antonio Jaguar Club JCNA.com San Antonio Jaguar Club of Houston, affiliated with Jaguar Clubs of North America (JCNA), gathers jaguar owners and admirers to promote safe and skillful driving, as well as the preservation of Jaguar automobiles. The annual “Vacation in Paradise” general meeting meets at various drive-to locations in the nation. Upcoming events include the June Hill Country Wine and Rides Tour with stops at wineries and vehicle museums. Mercedes-Benz Club of America TexasHillCountry.MBCA.org This new chapter was chartered in 2011 to serve the interests of MBCA members and Mercedes owners from the former Alamo Section. Join other Mercedes-Benz owners and enthusiasts with organized various events ranging from social gatherings to technical sessions, driving events, autocrosses and car shows.

Porsche Club of America – Longhorn Region LonghornPCA.org Chartered in 1962 by 13 original members, the Longhorn Region covers San Antonio and the surrounding area, and is now about 400 members strong. They provide members with an opportunity to enjoy the company of other Porsche lovers and their cars at social and sporting events from drives, autocrosses, monthly dinners and weekly racing lunches. Alamo City Historical Club Clubs.Hemmings.com As the oldest antique/collector car club in San Antonio, Alamo City Historical Club is open to vehicles 25 years and older. The club takes part in many civic activities, as well as attending tours and local and statewide car shows. They often participate in community parades and local special events. The club co-sponsors a “Tri-City” weekend tour which consists of a tour, driving contests, show ‘n shine, car show, picnic, dinner and dance, and other festive events.

Click into their Community section to find an auto club near you. Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA.org) focuses primarily on vehicles that are at least 25 years old. Their website includes a list of clubs throughout the United States, as well as a few other countries.

Music is provided by one of Texas’ finest German bands, the Boerne Village Band, playing traditional German folk tunes. Saturday morning is the Berges Fest parade traveling down Main Street.
