In 1909, Henry Ford introduced the Model T, and so began America’s love affair with the automobile. By the 1970s, driving your first car was a right of passage into adulthood and the American car was a symbol of freedom and patriotism. But times have changed. With the advent of personal technology, popular culture expert Peter Latham of the University of Iowa suggests that cars are no longer the cultural icons they used to be. Today’s youth are more “like walking cyborgs with all these things (iPods, wireless cell phones) attached to them,” he says. “Cars have become functional. They are not statements anymore. Electronics are.” But there are still those who revere their ride, treating it with love and care like a family pet. For those who still relish automotive freedom – from classic cars, like the Mustang, to luxury vehicles, such as the Bentley – the call of the open road still beckons. So where do you find these like-minded enthusiasts? Auto clubs! Auto clubs tend to focus on a specific make or model of car, as the list of local auto clubs below illustrates. Membership in a specialty auto club opens the door to a whole new world of automotive culture, where you can gather with others who love their rides as much as you do to trade stories, share good times and possibly swap a wrench or two. Here is a short selection of automotive clubs available in the San Antonio area:
Gently place the Knori onto the rice all around the roll. Place the avocado fan on top of the roll with the curved part of the avocado facing outwards. Lay the crab legs against the avocado fan slightly crossed and creating as much height as possible and then lay the sprouts against the crab legs. Roll the ginger into a flower shape and place against the sprouts. Drizzle the soy wasabi, sesame oil and Sriracha on the plate, around the roll. Sprinkle the whole thing with the sesame seeds. Snow Crab Mix (makes 2 rolls): 6 1/2 oz. snow crab meat 2 1/2 Tbs. mayonnaise pinch white pepper 1 tsp. sesame oil pinch kosher salt Place all ingredients in a clean bowl and mix until well combined.

line gourmet stove ranges and fancy double ovens, oversized stainless steel refrigerators with tons of space, dedicated wine coolers, warming drawers and quiet, roomy dishwashers. New, clean, fresh-smelling appliances tell buyers the rest of the home is also well cared for — and offers the best of everything. In addition, in neighborhoods where many properties are on the market — and many are very similar in style — chef-quality, gourmet appliances can set your home apart from the crowd. So smart! 2. ROCK THE OUTDOORS. Maybe you’ve worked so hard on the inside of your home, you’ve neglected to showcase the positives of your outdoor space. The trick to selling your great outdoors is to make it feel as if potential homeowners have stepped into a sanctuary. If you’ve got a view, take advantage of it by setting the scene with upscale furnishings to soak up the Texas sunsets and city lights. The goal? Make the outside of your home as irresistible as the inside and let home shoppers buy into the lifestyle you’re selling.
3. REMEMBER THAT WALLS CAN TALK. Don’t underestimate the power of some freshly-painted walls. While most sellers think bland neutrals will appeal to most people, you can kick things up a notch with tasteful faux finishes, coordinating accent walls (stick with calming hues), and even custom and designer paints. Heed caution here, as the right colors and textures will work magic but the wrong choices can be a turn-off. Not sure what colors or looks work in your home? Consult a paint specialist who will help you make the right decor decisions. 4. GET FLOORED. Potential buyers love to walk into a home and see major elements — think floors and walls — in perfect shape. And one thing they flip over right now: rich and glossy hardwood floors. Don’t leave a major project like re-flooring up to them—tackle the job yourself and buyers just might beg to sign on the dotted line. 5. YOUR CROWNING GLORY. Adding crown molding to walls and on kitchen cabinetry really adds a touch of class to your home. Dining rooms
