Whether you celebrate Christmas, Hanukah, or Kwanzaa, holiday traditions will help you build family time that will be cherished for years to come. Here are a few festive ways to make this winter season one to remember. First, make your home magical. Whether it’s placing your tree or menorah in the same special spot year after year or creating an ornament theme that grows and grows each Christmas, building rituals into your holidays will make them truly unique. A few more decorating ideas to consider: Hang elegant stockings
WILD BISON POLPETTES WITH A HABANERO PINEAPPLE BBQ SAUCE WILD BISON INGREDIENTS: 5 lbs ground boar (30%fat) 1 bunch parsley, chopped 1 tbsp ground black pepper 1 tbsp granulated garlic 1 tbsp cumin, ground 1 tbsp coriander, ground 1/2 tbsp cayenne
1/2 tbsp onion powder 1 1/2 tbsp salt 1/4 c paprika 3 shallots, small dice 7 garlic cloves, chopped 2 tbsp Dijon mustard 5 eggs
HABANERO PINEAPPLE BBQ SAUCE INGREDIENTS: 2 tbsp Canola oil 1/2 c brown sugar 1 whole sliced yellow onion 2 tbsp lemon juice 2 garlic cloves 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce 3 tbsp apple cider vinegar 2 tbsp dry mustard 1 c ketchup 1 tsp fresh ground pepper 1 c Dijon 2 tbsp Valentina hot sauce 1 c pineapple juice 2 Habanero peppers 1/2 c charred fresh seeded and chopped 1/2 c whiskey pineapple Combine all the ingredients in a stock pot and simmer for approximately 2 hours. Puree with stick blender, check and adjust seasoning to taste. Mix all ingredients well together in a bowl and portion out to 1 oz balls. After meatballs are formed, sauté meatballs until golden brown. Top meatballs with BBQ sauce to coat. Cover pan and place in a 375 degree oven for 3 min. Remove pan from oven and stir meatballs, then return to oven for another 2 min. Remove pan from oven and plate meatballs and all sauce on to serving dish. Top meatballs with finely shredded Pecorino, chives and olive oil. Serve with warm grilled bread.

“Consumer confidence” is an actual economic indicator which measures the degree of optimism that consumers feel about the state of the economy and their own personal financial situation. There are several “indexes” that provide a numeric measure of consumer confidence. The Consumer Confidence Index (CCI) is based on data from a monthly survey of 5,000 US households consisting of five questions addressing current economic conditions. The CCI dipped slightly in September, 2013 to 79.7 but this is a far cry from the 16-year low index of 57.2 in May, 2008. Overall, the CCI indicates that consumers are currently “positive” about the state of the

In their August holiday retailing report, Baynote predicted that 2013 holiday consumer spending could increase by as much as 11% over 2012. There are only 25 days between the Friday after Thanksgiving (aka “Black Friday”) and Christmas this year, as compared to 32 days in 2012.

The historically popular apparel and accessories category are projected to increase sales by 2.8% compared to 2012. Also, sales in electronics and appliances are predicted to increase 2% compared to last year, with tablets and smartphones continuing to be wildly popular.

Although there are fewer shopping days between Thanksgiving and Christmas, consumers will still be able to take advantage of many promotional offers throughout the holiday shopping season in order to fill all those stockings hanging by the fireplace!
