CAI-CV Homeowner Leader Committee Chair Bruce Latta presents Medallion recognition to Montage Board members Gary Roman left and 3rd from left Tony Michaelis and Norman Giere

CAI-CV Medallion Community Recognition By Desert Star Staff Palm Desert, CA, – The Community Associations Institute Coachella Valley Chapter (CAI-CV) presented the Medallion award to Montage at Mission Hills, a homeowners association

(HOA). Communities are eligible for the prize if they adhere to CAI’s best practices and are deemed to be among the finest HOAs in the Coachella Valley to call home. Montage HOA was recognized at a public

ceremony on Friday, July 9th, at noon at Montage Gerald Ford gate. At the ceremony, Montage HOA’s President Tony Michaelis and other Board members Norman Giere and Gary Roman were presented with the Medallion

Community signage and plaque acknowledging them as a best practice community. CAICV Chair of the Homeowner Leader Committee, Bruce Latta, made the presentation. Other members of society and CAI-CV attended the event. Upon receiving recognition, Michaelis said, “At Montage,

“You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, The Musical”

By Jack Lyons Theatre and Film Critic Member American Theatre Critics Association (ATCA) Member Academy of Television Arts and Sciences (ATAS) Charlie Brown and his dog Snoopy are just two of the characters from the inspired pen of cartoonist Charles Schultz, the creator of “Peanuts”, who turned his young characters into the world’s most beloved ‘gang of young children’ who in retrospect look suspiciously a lot like us. With the Pandemic now about 75% corralled in America, thanks to

vaccinations, the Palm Canyon Theatre (PCT) of Palm Springs launched its current production “You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown, the Musical” on Friday, July 9th to an enthusiastic, welcoming and energized audience. America’s live stage venues have been closed for over 14 months. Theatre and film fans have been hungry for entertainment. PCT’s current production is a feast for the eyes and ears as well as for its nostalgia of a different time. One can’t help reflecting backward to our own childhood experiences and memories when watching it.

“You’re A Good Man Charlie Brown, The Musical” Continued from Page 1 ‘From the mouths of babes’ it is said, comes many funny, insightful, wistful at times, but always truthful comments. No guile from these youngsters except for the character of Lucy Van Pelt, winningly played by Leslie Benjamin who comes to realize she’s a crabby, needy, lonely, little girl who must get her way all the time. I dare say most people can identify the Lucy types of the world. If that’s true then we must also must admit that it would be a pretty dull and boring world to inhabit if we all thought did things the same, n’est-ce pas? PCT Theatre founder Dr. William Layne lovingly directs a wonderfully talented ensemble cast of six actors that perfectly fit the vision of Layne and that of playwright, Clark M. Gesner, who originally wrote the music and Lyrics for the show back in 1967. Additional dialogue by Michael Mayer and additional music and lyrics by Andrew Lippa, fleshedout the musical revival version of the production into a musical becoming one of the longest running productions in Broadway history with 5,975 Broadway performances, including the revival production of 1997. The beauty of this PCT production lies totally in

its ensemble cast. Each performer delivering a believable and authentic performance as a six, seven, or eight year-old character. We’re looking at adults acting like children, who believe in what’s taking place on stage. In less talented hands the performances would appear as ridiculous and embarrassing. For purists and “Peanuts” lovers, it’s a joy and a delight to reflect once again on our childhoods in action. One of the problem with life alas, is that some of us never seem to grow up into traditional adults at all. Shout-outs are definitely in order for this inspired cast of performers, whose talent and commitment could easily light the entire city of Palm Springs with the energy emanating from the stage. Actors are always ready to receive audience feedback as a way of upping their performance skills just like radar signals that are sent always bounce back to the sender. The cast in alphabetical order consists of: Keith Alexander as Linus Van Pelt, a little boy who is in love with his blanket; Allegra Angelo as Sally Brown, Charlie’s inquisitive little sister who maybe baseball-challenged as team player, but considers herself a budding child philosopher; David Brooks as Schroeder, a Beethoven loving boy acolyte and child

pianist; the aforementioned Leslie Benjamin as Lucy Van Pelt; J.W Layne as Charlie Brown, the luckless, ‘born loser’ type who remains an eternal sports optimist who believes his neighborhood baseball team he captains, will one day win a ballgame and Paul Grant as the inimitable Snoopy, the world’s most famous Beagle and flying Ace hero of WW I will one day bring down his arch enemy The Red Baron, while flying his Sopwith Camel biplane in aerial combat… Dogs ya know, lead rich fantasy lives too. In the technical department the credits at PCT are always spot-on. The choreography is designed by Se Layne. The musical director is Scott Smith. Costume Designer Derik Shopinski gives the production the look of authenticity of Charles Schultz’s original cartoon images so familiar to fans of the “Peanuts” cartoon strip. Wig designs are by Mado Nunez with Props by Marsha Berry. Nick Wass stage manages the production. The orchestra led by Musical Director Scott Smith on piano and David Bronson on drums, Larry Holloway on Bass, and a mystery, uncredited, female violinist who together back the sixteen songs and numbers with ACT I’s “My Blanket and Me”, “The Book Report” and Act II’s “My New Philosophy”, “Suppertime “ and “Happiness,” being

five of my faves out of many good numbers. “You’re a good man Charlie Brown, the Musical” is the perfect production for the entire family to enjoy following our 14 month pandemic ordeal as we begin to return to our entertainment choices once more. But PCT musical productions are still having on-going problems with the location of the orchestra

being too close to the on stage actors to the point that at times the music drowns out the on stage dialogue. This delightful production runs to July 18, 2021. For reservations and ticket information call the box office at 760 –323-5123 or go online to www. palmcanyontheatre.org.

Shaquille O’Neal Is Wary of Crypto

By Desert Star Staff Don’t expect Shaquille O’Neal to dip into the crypto market any time soon. In an interview with Front Office Sports, the NBA Hall of Famer, business mogul, and TNT basketball analyst shared his take on cryptocurrency, saying he only invests in things he strongly believes in and avoids ventures that “seem too good to be true.” “I always get these companies that say, ‘Hey, we’ll give you $900,000 in crypto to send out a tweet.’ So I have to

say, ’OK, if you’re going to give me a million dollars worth of crypto, then why do you need me?’” O’Neal said. “A couple of my friends got caught up in a little scam like that one time.” The 49-year-old has an estimated net worth of $400 million and an extensive portfolio of investments. • This year, O’Neal co-founded a diversityfocused ad agency, Majority. • Beachbody, a Shaqadvised subscription-based fitness platform, went public via a $2.9 billion merger

with connected cycling provider Myx in June. • In May, O’Neal became an equity partner in Alkaline Water Co. He’ll join the board of advisors and get about 7 million shares, or 5-6%. • He’s a minority owner of the Sacramento Kings, too. O’Neal most recently invested in NRG Esports and brokered a naming rights partnership between their “Rocket League” team and The General insurance company, one of his many endorsements.

Ballmer Becomes Ninth Member of $100B Club By Desert Star Staff Los Angeles Clippers owner Steve Ballmer is now worth $100 billion. The former Microsoft CEO can claim the title of world’s most prosperous sports team owner due to a surge in tech stock prices that’s lifted many wealthy individuals to even greater heights. Ballmer passes Mukesh Ambani, owner of cricket’s Mumbai Indians, who ranked first with a net worth of $84.5 billion as recently as April. With $20 billion in asset growth just this year, Ballmer is one of nine people in the $100 billion club. • Amazon founder Jeff Bezos is the world’s

McGregor and Poirier Set for Major Paydays By Desert Star Staff When Conor McGregor and Dustin Poirier face off for the third time at UFC 264 on Saturday, reputations will be on the line — but the fight will be a financial win for everyone involved. McGregor won the first bout in 2014, and Poirier defeated McGregor with a second-round TKO in January. McGregor made $5 million from the January duel, while Poirier took home a career-best $1 million. Saturday’s fight will be the most significant event for UFC since Endeavor agreed to acquire 100% of the business in March, saying it will raise “at least $1.75 billion” to purchase the 49.9% of the company it doesn’t already own. • McGregor is estimated to make $3 million in guaranteed money this time around, plus 60% of the payper-view revenue share, for

a total of about $10 million. • Poirier’s estimate is $1 million guaranteed, with another $2 million coming from his cut of pay-per-view sales. McGregor was the top earner among all athletes in the

year ending May 1 due to the sale of his whiskey business, Proper No. 5. He made $180 million in that timespan, $158 million from the sale and other outside-the-ring activities. Poirier-McGregor III will

HOROSCOPES ARIES

Throughout the year, great changes are occurring for humanity and to you in particular. Your outlook on life will be concerned with freedom, especially how you express yourself. Breaking from the past will be a necessity. You (and others) will be as one who is “awakened” from a deep sleep. The awakening will happen through unexpected events. Break this gently to people who care about you so, as you change, they are not surprised. Cherish each and every moment.

TAURUS Unusual events happen particularly with your health. You might find unexpected difficulties almost every day and they affect your well-being. How to handle these is to adapt to the idea that all patterns in your life are in a state of alteration, including your health. Perform daily tasks with deep awareness lest a spider bites you or a snake comes upon you. These are symbols for change. Have homeopaths and essential oils always nearby.

GEMINI Your friendships and social life begin to shift. You encounter new ideas, seek new ideals, consider group life more and more. Unusual people are attracted to you as you study unusual lifestyles and listen to alternative news. The idea of being free and free-spirited is long overdue. For some reason you will feel you cannot depend anymore on your usual sources. Uncertainty results at

times. An entirely new reality is coming forth for you with new paths to pursue, new friends and new resources.

CANCER Talents and gifts you didn’t know existed within you are coming alive and this will be a discovery that is exciting and unexpected. Your life, likewise, embarks upon several new directions and people around you begin to consider you as one who knows a lot about something very specific. You surprise everyone. They think of you as unconventional and studious. This is good. A new life story begins.

LEO It’s possible you will be traveling soon, if you’re not already. Travel will be curious, unexpected, out of the ordinary. The journey will not be what you planned. You will meet unusual people who help you see life in completely different terms. Nothing traditional seems available, even though you long for this. Everything unconventional is seeking you. Allow yourself to adapt to this. Your heart is stirred.

VIRGO Unexpected events or happenings occur with finances and money that come from shared resources, from investments, taxes or loans. At first this doesn’t make sense. Then as time goes by it does. Allow yourself to realize that the pleasures you pursue and things you value are changing. This is the last week that Vesta, the asteroid of “inner self as

found object” is in VIrgo. You must make a Vesta box. Find a box, fill it with treasures that represent your true self. This becomes your new artform.

LIBRA Some things in your relations with others and with your close associates and intimates become surprising. Should you feel loss of freedom or resistance from others, should anything feel limiting you will shake it off immediately. It may be difficult to rely on anyone at times. If you notice this, be sure to be the ‘reliable one’ for others. Breaking free from things or people, events or situation, doesn’t mean you need to be cruel. Be gentle and kind – always and everywhere, with everyone.

SCORPIO Daily work, routines and agendas should include work on your health and wellbeing. Create new routines that include all things you consider healthy. Each day you may find yourself disrupted. Everything becomes nontraditional and unconventional. This includes health, which you need to pay attention to. Restlessness means you need a new rhythm. You will work non-stop at times, then work not at all at other times. Alternative healing benefits your health. Slow down.

SAGITTARIUS Know that more and more you will begin to express yourself in unconventionally creative ways. You will become the “out of the ordinary” friend. Children and

kicked off with NFL games a month later. Seats were accessible after spending $10 at concessions. The idea flopped. Now, why would the partnership with the UFC be any different? • First, AMC had a unique value proposition: The $25 entry point was significantly lower than the $75 pay-per-view cost. • Instead of only offering a “unique experience,” AMC provided customers with a monetary benefit that could make this initiative sticky in the long run. The UFC might also be more invested in the concept than the NFL was. Anything that can drive up revenue for Endeavor’s sports properties will have an outsized impact on profitability due to favorable margins. For Endeavor, a dollar earned from sports is simply more valuable than a dollar earned from another revenue stream. www.desertstarweekly.com

If It Isn’t There, It Didn’t Happen – Good HOA Minutes

By Kelly G. Richardson, Esq. CCAL When a corporation acts, its minutes document and prove that it acted. If the minutes do not record that the board of directors by majority vote approved a decision, it did not happen. The corporate record is critical to document corporate decisions, and the minutes are a critically important part of the governing process. The ultimate board member’s nightmare is to be accused of acting without

corporate authority, and then discovering that the minutes do not record the authority they thought they had. In that situation, the director should seek a ratification vote as soon as possible. Minutes are not a meeting transcript. What “somebody said” is not recorded in the minutes – even if they demand “make sure my comment is in the minutes!” Minutes are intended to document that the board met on a given date, that certain directors attended, that certain motions were made, and certain reports were received. Many

secretaries and managers work far too hard on “trying to get everything down,” and are therefore unable to meaningfully participate in the meeting as they try to get everyone’s remarks summarized. Some boards believe that they should also summarize open forum comments, but this is not required. Board meetings are not membership meetings, and the audience does not make motions or vote. It is sufficient to simply note that open forum was conducted. The good news for minute takers is that you can stop trying to compete with court reporters! Normally,

meeting minutes should be about two to three pages. Many committees take minutes of their meetings. However, committees normally do not make decisions, except for the HOA architectural committee. The normal output of a committee are recommendations to the board for action on topics within the committee’s charter. So, the record of the committee’s actions should be embodied in the committee report, which should be written. The minutes should also reflect that the board received the report. It is not necessary that the board “approve” the report, unless there is an action item recommended that is also posted in advance on the agenda. I am often asked what to do about executive session minutes. Executive session handles some limited but very sensitive subjects behind closed doors, and many boards and managers prefer to keep closed session minutes. Most closed session discussions (contract formation, hearings, payment plan proposals, etc.) involve a document coming out of the closed session (contract, notice of hearing outcome, payment plan confirmation), and Civil Code Section 4935(e) requires that

executive session decisions be “generally noted” in the next open meeting minutes. Given these two factors, I question whether closed session minutes are necessary. Boards and managers should consult with their preferred legal counsel about this, to see if these sensitive minutes are to be created. If minutes are not overly burdened with comments and discussion summaries, it should be easy to have draft minutes ready shortly after the meeting adjourns. Often when an association repeatedly violates Civil Code Section 4950 by not having draft minutes of the meeting available within thirty days of the meeting, it is because the minutes contain far too much unnecessary detail. Questions also frequently arise about video or audiotaping of HOA meetings to increase the accuracy of minutes. However, this is unnecessary if the minutes stick to the basics. Kelly G. ‘Tevye in New York!’ on Stage at the Wallis Annenberg Center

Tom Dugan stars as the Sholem Aleichem’s iconic character of Tevye from “Fiddler on the Roof” in the World Premiere of Tevye in New York! On stage at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts. Photo Credit: Lawrence K. Ho Amid horns honking and the sound of traffic speeding along Santa Monica Boulevard theatre once more became live at the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts with the world premiere of Tom Dugan’s 90-minute one-man show, ‘Tevye in New York!’ Performed on the theatrical venue’s new pop-up outdoor terrace arena equipped with 100 socially distanced tiered audience seats, the script, co-written and codirected by Dugan and Michael Vale, pays homage to Sholem Aleichem’s “Tevye the Dairyman” featuring that iconic character. Based on one of the most beloved characters in Jewish literature, the story picks up Tevye’s life in Manhattan’s Lower East Side post ‘Fiddler on the Roof.’ Performed on Vale’s sub-par set, slightly resembling a jungle gym, our protagonist fled the 1909 pogrom which spread over Anatevka, his shtetl in Ukraine. Now an American citizen, Tevye is a dairyman selling fresh pickles and ice cream from his cart, currently parked on a busy corner on the Lower East Side, the 1914 July 4

Parade route, which is about to begin. The theme for this year is a salute to immigrants – Jews, Irish and Italians - and he tells us people are lined up to watch the parade, which President Woodrow Wilson will lead. He references other celebrities participating in the festivities, including John Phillip Sousa and Harry Houdini. Seeking his slice of the American Dream, he has big plans for expanding his business and purchased a building with his son-in-law, Lazar Wolf, the butcher, which will house their grocery store and living facilities. In preparation for today’s grand opening, Tevye commissioned a sign painter to make a banner that should have read: “Tevye’s Grocery Featuring Lazar Wolf’s Meat.” However, the painter made a mistake printing instead: “Tevye’s Grocery Featuring Lazar’s Wolf Meat.” Continuously breaking the fourth wall, he shared stories with the audience, which ranged from humorous anecdotes about his friends and neighbors to his bad luck in having six strong daughters, Beilke, Chava, Hodel, Shprintze, Taybele, and Tzeitel,

all of whom have their own ideas on how to live life. Once in a while, he voices an occasional complaint directly to God. He explains that the reason why he can only sell pickles and not ice cream at the moment is that Maria, an Italian immigrant and close family friend who they met on the boat coming over from the old country, has gone off to Ellis Island to meet his family members arriving from Russia and that she has the key to his ice cream compartment. Living on Delancey Street, Tevye shares his pleasant memories of Golde, his wife, for 25 years, commenting, “Subtle you wouldn’t call her,” or reminiscing why they weren’t romantic, “We were too busy trying not to starve to death.”

He talks about his deceased daughter, who wanted to marry a boy from a very rich family and how his wife never got over her drowning death. The pay station (telephone) plays a part in the proceedings. Tevye has conversations with an inspector at Ellis Island who refuses to allow his daughter Tzeitel’s son Daniel clearance to enter America. She just arrived with her new husband, Motel, the tailor. The reason? The boy refuses to talk. Tevye begs the inspector to allow his grandson entry explaining that he is very shy. Desperate, grandpa comes up with a brilliant solution: “Just ask him about the New York Giants.” Those were the magic words, and the young boy became animated,

reciting baseball statistics and is granted entry. Tevye’s cart occasionally turns into a milk wagon with his trusty unseen horse Ulysses leading the way. So, the banter continues, including his comments that his daughters work in the garment center, recalling the tragic 1911 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire and the police brutality against factory workers striking for safer working conditions. While some of the dialogue was meant to be “laugh lines,” this audience didn’t find anything funny so those lines hung in the air, landing like lead balloons. The only one that did work was: “May your son have an angry Mohel.”* Now you might be Continues on Page 7

Cynthia Erivo “Day Off” By Desert Star Staff Grammy® and TONY Award-winner and Academy Award-nominated singersongwriter Cynthia Erivo released her second single, “Day Off.” The alt-R&B tinged song is from her forthcoming debut album of original music as a recording artist, Ch. 1 Vs. 1, set for release on September 17 on Verve Records. “Day Off” shows a cruising, ethereal, alt-R&B side of the singer-songwriter. One of the first songs Erivo wrote on the record, it’s about “what it would be like if I asked someone to stop working and to take a minute with me to do something - anything,” Erivo says. She recalls her mind wandering throughout this then-hypothetical experience while at a friend’s house years ago. “I know what that means. I know that feeling when you’re

with someone, you’re both going and going, and then you just stop and take the whole day to spend together.’” “Day Off” follows Erivo’s first single from the album, the anthemic pop/soul-anthem “The Good.” V magazine raved, calling the song “a track that bleeds soul,” and Vulture declared it “a buoyant, soulful R&B anthem,” while E! Online says, “The pop-soul production is a dream and Cynthia’s vocal performance is impeccable, per usual.” Watch her stunning performance of “The Good” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Ch. 1 Vs. 1 is a galvanizing mix of reverential, sociallyinspired soul (“What In The World,” “Hero,” Sweet Sarah”), heady alt R&B and pop (“Day Off,” “I Might Be In Love With You,” “Alive”) and vulnerable, gospeltinged ballads (“A Window,”

“Glowing Up,” “You’re Not Here”). It features co-writing and production support from Jamie Hartman (Lewis Capaldi, Jennifer Hudson, Celeste), Sean Douglas (Lizzo, Demi Lovato, Jason Derulo), Kaveh Rasteghar (John Legend, Sia), Shakka Phillip (Dua Lipa, Tove Lo), Harold Lilly (Beyoncé, Brandy) and Jack Splash (Alicia Keys, Kendrick Lamar), among others. The Album is Executive produced by Will Wells (Imagine Dragons, Quincy Jones, Anthony Ramos). Ch. 1, Vs. 1 is more than just a long-awaited debut album of original music from the celebrated singer; it is a sonic declaration of identity and humanity and is a sweeping reintroduction dripping in authenticity and truth. “It would be a wasted opportunity not to express all that I am,” Erivo adds. “This is probably one of the

Masters Display Magic On New Releases

Several stunning live collections and a new longawaited studio disc from one of country music’s favorites are featured in my column this week.

Again,” rootsy acoustic nugget “This Place is Empty” and the inspired “Sympathy For The Devil” (the latter bolstered by Keith Richards’ terrific lead guitar work) add depth to the two-hour Artist: The Rolling Stones concert. Singer Mick Jagger, Title: A Bigger Bang: Live guitarists Keith Richards and On Copacabana Beach Ronnie Wood, drummer Charlie (Mercury Studios) Watts and the nine members You might like if you enjoy: of their touring band displayed The Rolling Stones an energetic zeal the equal Tell me more: It’s not of the fervor displayed by the a surprise that The Rolling massive crowd seen cheering, Stones’ new multi-format waving Brazilian and British release “A Bigger Bang: Live flags and dancing throughout On Copacabana Beach” is so the event. Highlights abound amazing. Recorded at the famed on this historic set including the Copacabana Beach in Rio de rollicking “It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll Janeiro, Brazil on Feb. 8, 2006, (But I Like It),” tender Americanathere were between 1.5 million flavored “Wild Horses,” festive and 2 million fans in attendance “Honky Tonk Women,” extended at the show – one of the largest romp through “Brown Sugar” free rock concerts ever staged. and poignant “You Can’t The DVD+2CD version reviewed Always Get What You Want”. here is pure delight. Remixed, The Stones closed out the re-edited and remastered, night with a fiery version of “(I the title includes four tracks Can’t Get No) Satisfaction” that not included on the original finds the audience jumping up 2007 DVD release; indeed the and down and often singing freewheeling “Tumbling Dice,” along with Jagger to add bluesy rocker “Oh No, Not You power to the classic. “A Bigger

Allan uses his signature baritone on other moving tracks across the disc including the sweeping country rocker “Till It Felt Like You,” lovely ballad “Pretty Damn Close” and atmospheric closer “The Hard Way.” Information: GaryAllan.com.

Artist: Gary Allan Title: Ruthless (EMI Nashville) You might like if you enjoy: Alan Jackson, Chris Stapleton, Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam Tell me more: Acclaimed country artist Gary Allan is back with “Ruthless,” his first new studio album since 2013. Few country artists can sing about heartache and romantic desolation with the affecting touch of Allan, and the California native proves that across his eagerly-awaited 13-track return. The winning ‘80s-mining “Temptation,” stirring mid tempo title track, reflective acoustic gem “Trouble Knows Trouble” and infectious “Waste Of A Whiskey Drink” mine that territory in spades.

Artist: Laura Nyro Title: Trees of the Ages: Laura Nyro Live in Japan (Omnivore Recordings) You might like if you enjoy: Rachael Yamagata, Kate Bush, Rickie Lee Jones Tell me more: Gifted with a beautiful soprano and stellar skills as a pianist, the late Laura Nyro possessed otherworldly songwriting and compositional abilities to match. On “Trees of the Ages: Laura Nyro Live in Japan” (available on July 16), the influential genre-defying artist was chronicled in concert three years before her tragic death of ovarian cancer at the age of 49. Seated at her piano and backed only by a threewoman harmony trio, Nyro delivers a riveting and intimate

performance. Performing some of her best-known songs (inventive versions of “And When I Die” and “Wedding Bell Blues” receive enthusiastic cheers from the audience when they are performed) as well equally poignant originals spanning from the triumphant “A Woman of the World” to the bewitching “Lite a Flame (The Animal Rights Song)” and majestic medley of “Trees of the Ages / Emmie.” She also shares some sublime covers that fit in perfectly with her own inspired original material; “Dedicated to the One I Love,” “Ooh Baby Baby,” “Walk on By” and “Let It Be Me” are among the well-known songs she magically reworks during the concert set. In addition to “Trees of the Ages,” Omnivore Recordings is celebrating the artist – a member of both the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and the Songwriters Hall of Fame – again via the previously-unissued “Go Find the Moon: The Audition Tape” later this summer (coming Sept. 10). By Desert Star Staff NEW YORK -- Hyro, a leader in conversational artificial intelligence (AI) solutions, announced it had won the 2021 ‘Microsoft for Startups’ Partner of the Year Award. After rapidly creating a free COVID-19 Virtual Assistant that has served over four million patients, alleviating stress on overloaded healthcare organizations while providing actionable, certified information for the public helped prevent the spread of fake news surrounding coronavirus. The latest award for the dynamic startup after its successful Series A Round, Hyro was honored among a global field of top Microsoft partners for demonstrating excellence in innovation and implementation of customer solutions based on Microsoft technology. Health organizations

necessary action to help health systems cut the red tape that usually surrounds SaaS deployments like conversational AI. Microsoft was pivotal in our efforts, and we’re grateful to be honored with such a prestigious award,” said Israel Krush, Co-founder and CEO of Hyro. “We recognized that our clients, partners and friends in healthcare were completely overwhelmed, so we wanted to support them with what we had in our arsenal—our Adaptive Communications Platform. That’s why we made our COVID-19 assistant completely free, aimed at helping with containment and diagnosis. In addition, by automating some of the first-line digital touchpoints, we relieved the burden on healthcare support centers, so resources could be allocated where

they were needed most, and we’re thankful for Microsoft’s support in those efforts.” Beyond COVID-19, Hyro was also able to help with vaccination delivery access by automating FAQs surrounding the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine. According to Novant Health, that solution is now offloading almost all inbound inquiries for their patient support team relating to eligibility, scheduling and monitoring adverse symptoms. Beyond healthcare, Hyro’s Adaptive Communications Platform is not limited by use case, customer size, or channel/ platform, as its clients span industries including real estate, government, retail and more. The Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards recognizes Microsoft partners who exemplify exceptional work

in developing and delivering products, services and solutions that positively impact mutual customers. Hyro has demonstrated outstanding commitment and dedication to providing an innovative and unique service and solution to customers that will enable them to communicate more effectively with their customers. “I am honored to announce the winners and finalists of the 2021 Microsoft Partner of the Year Awards,” said Rodney Clark, corporate vice president, Global Partner Solutions, Channel Sales and Channel Chief, Microsoft. “These remarkable partners have displayed a deep commitment to building world-class solutions for customers—from cloudto-edge—and represent some of the best and brightest our ecosystem has to offer.”

Digital transformation, however, came by force in 2020, so Hyro swiftly created a free COVID-19 virtual assistant to automate FAQs, symptoms triage and risk assessment while delivering up-to-date information from the WHO and CDC. Where it took other intent-based chat and voice solutions four to six weeks, Hyro’s Adaptive Communications Platform was able to be implemented across organizations within 48 hours thanks to its ease of deployment and ability to scale rapidly. “To support global health organizations and their patients is a privilege we don’t take lightly, and in times of crisis, we understood this was the

You will be bidding on a lien, not on the property itself. Placing the highest bid at a trustee auction does not automatically entitle you to free and clear ownership of the property. You should also be aware that the lien being auctioned off may be a junior lien. If you are the highest bidder at the auction, you are or may be responsible for paying off all liens senior to the lien being auctioned off, before you can receive clear title to the property. You are encouraged to investigate the existence, priority, and size of outstanding liens that may exist on this property by contacting the county recorder’s office or a title insurance company, either of which may charge you a fee for this information. If you consult either of these resources, you should be aware that the same lender may hold more than one mortgage or deed of trust on the property. Notice To Property Owner: The sale date shown on this notice of sale may be postponed one or more times by the mortgagee, beneficiary, trustee, or a court, pursuant to Section 2924g of the California Civil Code. The law requires that information about trustee sale postponements be made available to you and to the public, as a courtesy to those not present at the sale.
