Edito r’s View Dear Readers, First and foremost, on behalf of the entire Desh-Videsh Media Group team, we wish a very Happy Ramadan to all our Muslim readers and supporters. I would also like to pray to Almighty God that He protects all Desh-Videsh readers and community members from COVID-19. Our prayers and heartfelt thanks go to all those who are fighting this enemy on the frontlines, including medical professionals and other essential workers who are putting their lives in danger to help thousands of people all over the world. Let me begin by extending our special thanks to our own Akhil Deo from South Florida who has set up a small mask manufacturing facility in his home and is donating these masks to health professionals. Learn more about this initiative in the article “South Florida Teens Provide Relief to Medical Workers.” During this lockdown, many are spending 24/7 with their kids, so it may be very appropriate for me to mention a couple of words about parenting. As one very wise person said, “Children are great imitators. So give them something great to imitate.” And that is exactly what role model parents Rema and Sanjay Deo have done with their own kids. They have raised well-mannered, well-behaved and talented sons, Akhil and Akash, based on their own lifestyle example. Kudos to them! I also would like to thank all of you who have supported our joint initiative with Florida Fine Arts - Sa Ni Dha Pa Live - Sur Sangam in your living room. Sanjay Chandran from Florida Fine Arts and I put together this 100% volunteer based project in two weeks. We are amazed and thankful for the overwhelming response we have received in the number of registrations for artists, attendees and volunteers from all over the world. Moreover we are very grateful for the encouraging words for our artists and volunteers via email, telephone, WhatsApp messages, and on our website www.sanidhapalive.org. This is what I love about Desh Videsh Media Group’s extended family members - they know exactly how to support and encourage. Please read the article in this issue to learn more about this project. Two articles in this issue are dedicated to help all of you in this time of stress and anxiety. First from our talented young writer Chahna Tailor in her article “Preventea-tive” and the second “How to Boost Your Immune System to Fight Diseases” from our staff writers. I hope you read them and put it into practice. By no means are these tips a cure for COVID-19 or any other diseases, but rather they offer a means to enhance your immune system and help prevention. And speaking of cure, prevention and stress relief, I hope you will like the article “Top Books on Hinduism.” This is a very timely article while we are locked down in our houses, as we can catch up on our rich religion and heritage. I know it has been very tough for all of us, metally, physically and financially. In this issue of Desh-Videsh, we try to ease that pain in all these areas. So to guide your financial need, Ahmed Kabani, our long time supporter is presenting his ideas in the article “Hotel Investing in the Uncertain Pandemic Climate.” Now let me turn to some sad news. Two Bollywood legends, Rishi Kappor and Irrfan Khan are no longer with us. Both fought the deadly disease cancer for the last two years. Everytime I hear about someone dying because of cancer, I thank Almighty God again and again that I was saved by HIM from this deadly disease and gave me another chance! Be Safe and Be healthy! Two of Bollywood’s most beloved actors, Rishi Kapoor and Irrfan Khan, died within a day of each other, both leaving behind a memorable cinematic work and millions of grieving fans all over the world. The sudden demise of these legends was perhaps not unpredictable. Both actors have been suffering from deadly diseases of cancer since the last two years. If we were not in a crippling coronavirus lockdown, the funerals for these two Bollywood’s most-admired actors would mean thousands of fans coming together to bid them goodbye. Instead, their ceremonies were held in the presence of a handful of family and friends. Let’s take a closer look into the lives of these two incredible actors.
Irrfan Khan: A Powerhouse of Talent Irrfan Khan, a trained stage actor, began his career in television and moved over to the big screen in Bollywood. Khan later moved on to star in well known British and American films. Khan’s career spanned over 30 years and earned him numerous awards, including a National Film Award, Asian Film Award, and four Filmfare Awards. In 2011, he was awarded the Padma Shri, India’s fourth highest civilian honor. Khan made his film debut with a small role in Salaam Bombay!. After starring in the British film The Warrior, he had his breakthrough with a starring role as a n intensely tormented lover in Maqbool, an adaptation of Macbeth. The western world first became enamoured with Khan as a talented actor in the film Slumdog Millionaire. He went on to star in other Hollywood films including The Amazing Spider-Man, Life of Pi, Jurassic World, and Inferno. Khan went on to gain popularity for his roles as a gentle immigrant in Mira Nair’s The Namesake, Life in a... Metro, and Paan Singh Tomar. For acting the title character in the last of these, Khan won the National Film Award for Best Actor. His highestgrossing Hindi film release came with the comedy-drama Hindi Medium, which won him the Filmfare Award for Best Actor, and his final film appearance was in its sequel Angrezi Medium. In March 2018, Khan shared that he was battling a rare endocrine neuroendocrine tumor. He is survived by his wife and two children.

Rishi Kapoor: From Boyish Charm to Masterful Maturity “Acting was in my blood and there was simply no escaping it,” Kapoor wrote in his memoir Khullam Khulla: Rishi Kapoor Uncensored. Rishi Kapoor was a third-generation actor from the Bollywood legendary Kapoor Family. His grandfather Prithiviraj Kapoor and father Raj Kapoor were incredible actors of their time. In 1955 when Rishi Kapoor was around the age of three, his first on-screen appearance was a cameo in his father Raj Kapoor’s film Shree 420, where he appeared in the musical sequence of “Pyar Hua, Iqrar Hua Hai.” In 1970 in Raj Kapoor’s film “Mera Naam Joker,” Rishi Kapoor received the National Award in which Rishi played a young version of the lead character. Rishi’s real success came when he played a teenage romantic hero with Dimple Kapadia in the 1973 film Bobby. The charming romantic boy of the 70s and 80s went on to become one of the most loved heartthrob actors of his time and appeared in some Bollywood’s blockbusters such as Amar Akbar Anthony and Chandni. However, it was Rishi’s brilliant performances in the latter half of his career that remain branded in the memories of audiences everywhere. His irascible yet cute portrayal of a septuagenarian in Kapoor and Sons and his hard hitting performance as a mafia king Dawood Ibrahim in D Day will always be remembered. Equally brilliant is his portrayal of a religious and righteous man in Mulk. Altogether Kapoor acted in over 100 movies in a career spanning more than 40 years. In his last tweet on April 2, 2020, he appealed to people to respect the work frontline health workers were doing. “We have to win this Coronavirus w a r together,“ Kapoor wrote. Rishi Kapoor is survived by his wife (industry veteran Neetu Singh) and his children superstar Ranbir Kapoor and daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahani.

In Memoriam by Amitabh Bachchan A Tribute to Rishi Kapoor I had seen him at his home Deonar Cottage, Chembur , a young energetic, bubbly , mischief in his eyes Chintu , on those rare moments when I was privileged to have been invited to an evening at Raj ji’s house.. I would see him more often after, at RK Studios, when he trained as an actor for his film to be made, BOBBY .. a diligent enthusiastic youngster, ready to pounce onto every learning that came his way, in that famous large and legendary makeup room, of Raj ji at the end of the first floor corridor of makeup rooms .. He had a walk that was confident and determined .. a stride and style that was similar to that of his grandfather, the legendary Prithvi Raj ji .. a walk I had noticed in one of his earlier films .. that walk .. I never found it in any other .. We worked in several films together .. When he spoke his lines, you believed every word of it .. there was never an alternative .. its genuineness was beyond question .. And there has never been any other, that could lip sync a song as perfectly as he would .. never .. His playful attitude on set was infectious .. even in the most grave sequences he would discover that comedic spark and we would all just crack up .. !! Not just on set .. if you were with him at any formal event , he would find that little distractive
light hearted gem to expand on and lighten the situation .. When there was a time lapse as the shot got readied during a shoot , he would bring out his playing cards , or at times pull out his rather complicated Bagatelle board and invite others to play .. a competition .. not just for fun .. a serious competition .. During his time of diagnosis and his treatment he never ever lamented his condition .. it was always .. ‘see you soon , just a routine visit to the Hospital .. I’ll be back shortly ‘ Joie de vivre .. the exuberant enjoyment of life , was a gene he inherited from his father .. the Legend, the Ultimate Showman, the Iconic Raj Kapoor .. I never visited him in Hospital .. I never wanted to see distress on his smiling cherubic face .. But I am certain .. when he went , he must have gone with a gentle smile …

Autobiography of a Yogi Paramahansa Yogananda
Am I a Hindu? The Hinduism Primer by Ed Viswanathan
Paramahansa Yogananda was the first major Indian teacher to settle down in the West. He spent the last thirty-two years of his life in the United States, travelling incessantly, holding forth to packed audiences, and launching a spiritual revolution with his hugely acclaimed Autobiography of a Yogi. The book, which was first published in 1946, became an international bestseller, and has been translated into more than a dozen languages.
Am I a Hindu? The Hinduism Primer by Ed Viswanathan provides a novel approach to a potentially complex subject. The book is in the form of a dialogue between a Hindu father and his Americanborn Hindu teenage son, who lives in New York. The boy is confused about his Hindu identity, and seeks clarifications from his father in a series of questions. Why, for instance, do Hindus worship a plethora of Gods? Or why, for that matter, do Hindu women wear dots on their forehead? The book not only serves as a good introduction to Hinduism for those who are unacquainted with the faith, but also provides useful insights to practicing Hindus.
Ramayana and Mahabharata by C. Rajagopalachari No two literary compositions have been closer to the heart of the Indian people than Valmiki’s Ramayana and Vyasa’s Mahabharata. Their deep impact on Indian culture in general and Hindu culture in particular is unknown to no one. However, as books, they are difficult to read in their original form. For one thing, they are in Sanskrit, which is beyond the understanding of most Indians today. For another, their voluminous sizes can act as dampers – the original Ramayana comprises no fewer than 24,000 couplets, but is far surpassed by the 100,00 verses of the Mahabharata, which is the longest epic poem ever written in any language. Therefore, it was with a sense of mission that India’s first Governor-General, the learned C. Rajagopalachari or ‘Rajaji’ set about retelling these ancient epics in English. As of 2019, his English rendition of the two epics, which he considered his greatest service to his countrymen, had each sold over two million copies. 24

American Veda by Philip Goldberg There are presently said to be fifteen million American practitioners of yoga and meditation, and words like mantra and karma have become part and parcel of everyday English usage. Philip Goldberg’s American Veda: From Emerson and the Beatles to Yoga and Meditation traces in thorough detail the fascinating history of this development, and showcases how, both subtly and in more obvious ways, Hindu spiritual thought has left its abiding mark on American culture and its way of life.
The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna by Swami Nikhilananda
The Gospel of Sri Ramakrishna is Swami Nikhilananda’s English translation – made with the help of Margaret Woodrow Wilson, daughter of American President Woodrow Wilson – of the famous Bengali religious text “Sri Sri Ramakrishna Kathamrita.” It records the conversations of the 19th century Hindu saint Ramakrishna – the guru of Swami Vivekananda – with his disciples and devotees. American scholars convened by the publishing giant Harper Collins voted the book as one of the “100 most important spiritual books of the 20th century,” and Aldous Huxley drew a comparison between it and James Boswell’s “Life of Samuel Johnson.”

The Philosophy of Hinduism by Sarvepelli Radhakrishnan Sarvepelli Radhakrishnan, India’s second President, whose birthday is celebrated in India as Teacher’s Day, was an internationally distinguished scholar of comparative religion and philosophy, and the first Indian to hold a professorial chair at the University of Oxford. He is considered a bridge-builder between East and West. In The Philosophy of Hinduism, he explains how, unlike other religions, Hinduism is a continual process rather than a fixed revelation, and compares it to Christianity, Islam, and Buddhism, observing that they all shared the same goal – the attainment of the universal self.
Darsan: Seeing the Divine Image in India by Diana L. Eck ‘Darshan’ is derived from the Sanskrit word ‘darsana’ and means ‘vision,’ ‘appearance,’ or ‘sight.’ In Hinduism, ‘darshan’ enjoys a special connotation, as it is believed that the very act of looking reverentially at the image of a deity, holy person, or sacred object confers divine blessings on a person. Diana L. Eck is Professor of Comparative Religion and Indian Studies at Harvard University, and her book Darsan: Seeing the Divine Image in India emphasizes the importance of visuals in Hindu culture, and how this merges with the elements of performance and sound to create the experience of the divine. It also looks into how the images of the gods are made and consecrated, the rituals that surround them, and the temples they are lodged in. MAY 2020 - WWW.DESHVIDESH.COM
Dancing with Siva by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami
The Holy Geeta by Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati
The 1008-page, colorfully illustrated Dancing with Siva: Hinduism’s Contemporary Catechism by the remarkable Saivite leader and founder of Hinduism Today magazine Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami, who was born Robert Hansen in California in the United States in 1927 and was later initiated into sannyasa in Jaffna by the iconic Sri Lankan mystic Jnanguru Yogaswami, is an impressive piece of work that is informative and devotional in equal measure, and projects Hinduism in all its breadth of vision and diversity.
Swami Chinmayananda Saraswati, Hindu spiritual leader and founder of the global nonprofit organization the Chinmaya Mission, was a visiting professor of Indian philosophy in numerous Asian and American universities, and authored several books, among which is The Holy Geeta, where the slokas of the holy text are reproduced both in Hindi and English, and supplemented by the Swami’s own enlightening commentaries. Though this book has gained wide popularity, it is not meant for casual reading, but is one that, to use Francis Bacon’s famous words, needs to be “chewed and digested.”
Meeting God – Elements of Hindu Devotion by Stephen Huyler For an introduction to contemporary Hinduism, few books can rival the merits of photographer-art historian-anthropologist and India-lover Stephen Huyler’s Meeting God – Elements of Hindu Devotion. Written in compelling and lucid prose, the book centers on the richness and diversity of Hindu devotional practices, and is replete with arresting photographs of spiritual India. So pleasing is the book to the eye that Deepak Chopra has described it as “a full color tour of India.”
A Survey of Hinduism by Klaus K. Klostermaier Klaus K. Klostermaier is a Professor Emeritus in the Department of Religion at the University of Manitoba, Canada. The first edition of his book A Survey of Hinduism came out in 1989 and made a mark with its balanced, well-researched, and comprehensive presentation of Hinduism – so much so that, though it mainly targeted the general reader, it became popular among specialists as well. The expanded third edition of the book is an even more valuable read by virtue of its inclusion of new chapters that discuss the religion’s origins, the way it measures time, and the history of its relations with Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam.
Globalization, the current environmental crisis, and the COVID-19 pandemic calls for human beings to act in unison and in a spirit of brotherhood, irrespective of their caste, creed, color, or race. Throughout the ages, the highest Hindu thinkers have emphasized the unity of mankind and the need to respect all forms of life. “All life is sacred, and special to God,” declares Lord Krishna in the Bhagavad Gita. “I look upon all creatures equally; none are less or more dear to me,” Never before has this message been more relevant than it is today. 28

How to Boost Your Immune System to Fight Diseases How to Boost Your Immune System to Fight Diseases The COVID-19 pandemic has led many researchers and doctors to talk about the importance of a strong immune system. It has been emphasized time and again that if you have a strong immune system you can easily keep those abominable, microscopic invaders away from you or at the least be better prepared to fight infection. What is the immune system? Well, it is essentially your body’s internal police force. Confused? Your immune system plays a role similar to the police. Whenever an unwanted thief in the shape of harmful pathogens tries to get in, your immune system gets to action by sending a line of defense to your bloodstream or organs or muscles or your bones. The result is that you remain in good health while your immune system battles against and destroys germs. 40
Consequences & risk factors of a weak immune system Sometimes your immune system may not be as strong as it should be. What happens when there’s no police force in a particular locality? Burglars and thieves, and other such antisocial elements will invade that area, colonize it completely, expand their group and bring distress to the peaceful dwellers in that area. The same happens to your body as well. Harmful pathogens of every kind like bacteria, viruses, parasites and other microbes will make your body their fond habitat and wreak havoc in all possible ways. In result, diseases will gain a strong foothold in you, thereby making you move from one disease to another without even getting the chance to recover in between. MAY 2020 - WWW.DESHVIDESH.COM
Your immune system plays a role similar to the police. Whenever an unwanted thief in the shape of harmful pathogens tries to get in, your immune system gets to action by sending a line of defense to your bloodstream or organs or muscles or your bones.
Weakened immune system & diseases Apart from the common cold and flu, a weakened immune system may make you fall prey to other diseases too. Some of the deadliest pathogenic diseases triggered by weakened immune systems include tuberculosis, bacterial pneumonia, tetanus, rotavirus infection, parainfluenza and of course, SARS. In this context, it is worthwhile to note that the recent coronavirus pandemic is one of the deadliest pandemics of the century and is a type of SARS infection. The pandemic has killed nearly 215,231 people worldwide to date and nearly 3,110,702 have been infected. The statistics clearly show the dangers of a pathogenic disease. The story has a positive side as well. There are patients who were infected by coronavirus but have recovered and gone home healthy. Now, how is it that some patients could defeat this aggressive virus while others could not? The answer, probably, lies in their immune system. Patients with a stronger immune system could fight the virus and could also respond better to the medications applied on them.
What does coronavirus or any other pathogen do to your body? When you are attacked by any pathogen be it coronavirus or any other, what does it do to your body? Well, the pathogen makes your body its host and habitat and starts multiplying by disrupting the cellular machinery of some of the healthy cells of your body. The population of the pathogen starts exploding and you get infected and start getting the symptoms of a pathogenic infection. When it is the novel coronavirus that has invaded you, it will use its own novel mechanism to evade the defenses sent by your body’s innate immune system. Next a

cytokine storm will rise within your body and will eventually lead to multi-organ failure.
Adequate hydration
Vulnerable groups The elderly and those with underlying health issues like diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, asthma, etc. are the most vulnerable groups with respect to the susceptibility of being infected with coronavirus or other pathogens. Most of these groups either have weakened or compromised immune systems or have an underdeveloped immunity.
Ways to boost your immune system It is well evident that if you have a strong immune system, you can give your invader a tougher fight and can even defeat it in some cases. Here are some ways you can strengthen your immune system naturally: Nutritious foods
Water is very important to allow your immune system to function in full form. Water hydrates your body and helps in flushing out toxins from your system. Other fluids and beverages such as green tea, kefir and freshly extracted fruit and vegetable juices can also serve as effective, nutrients-rich and hydrating tonic for your immune system. Herbs Certain herbs can nourish your immune system and strengthen your immune responses. Herbs such as astragalus root, angelica root,

Your immune system plays a role similar to the police. Foods rich in essential nutrients can brace your immune system effectively. Researchers have established a connection between immunity and micronutrients like iron, zinc, selenium, folic acid, copper and vitamins like A, B6, E and C. Also, scientific studies show that nutritional deficiencies could lead to weakened immune systems. So, nutrient-dense foods like spinach, bell pepper, mushroom, sweet potatoes, broccoli, blueberries, oranges, lemons, kiwis, mangoes, oily fishes, turmeric, ginger, garlic, dark chocolate, almonds and sunflower seeds are the best foods for boosting your immune system. 44

Hotel Investing in the Uncertain Pandemic Climate

A
s we commence a new quarter in 2020, facing heavy headwinds in the face of a new decade, it is more important than ever to develop a plan to work through this pandemic. There is still so much uncertainty, yet it is our responsibility as business professionals to develop a plan to prepare ourselves for the worst-case scenario. The good news, however, is that our economy is taking action to assist our business. The U.S Small Business Administration 504 program is providing loans with the same type of long-term, fixed-rate financing enjoyed by larger firms, denoted by interest rates equivalent to favorable bond market rates. Businesses are eligible for these loans if their net worth is less than $7 million and net after-tax profits are under $2.5 million. This could help smaller hotel businesses, who do not

have adequate reserves in place for such an unprecedented pandemic.
Communicating with lenders It is apparent that borrowers’ ability to service their debt is becoming increasingly more difficult with such a hiatus in travel. Thus, it is important for hoteliers to communicate effectively with lenders head-on. Now is as good a time as ever to contact your lender to prepare them for a potential payment delay or default. Reinforce your relationship by mentioning your history of good payment, explain what issues your hotel is facing right now, and what you are doing to address those
issues. Go in detail about the demand drivers and STR reports of your property and give the lender a brief recovery plan. Most importantly, discuss your options with the lender for deferred payments. It is better for your relationship, and ultimately your welfare, that you are transparent early on with your lender.
Establishing your ground Do not sulk in this period of low occupancy, instead take advantage! Use this period to revamp your strategic plan. How long can you afford to withstand a zero-occupancy scenario? Should you consider selling off and shifting your investment somewhere else for the time being? Or do you hold through the pandemic? Meeting with an asset manager would assist in determining what path is right for you. If you have decided that holding is the better option, spend some time reviewing

business continuity plans to ensure that management is prepared for a worst-case scenario. Develop an action plan in case a guest or staff member reports symptoms or infection. Communicate this plan to all employees. If necessary, consult the Florida Department of Health for guidance about quarantining guests or staff.
Once the quarantine finishes with everyone having spent weeks barely leaving their homes, they will travel as soon as it is safe to do so. Hoteliers need to be ideally equipped to meet this sudden surge of travel demand. Re-opening will not be a viable fit for every hotel. This is an important notion for owners to understand. The
hotels that do reopen can expect major changes in operators and branding. Once the pandemic passes, the highest and best use for the hotel in terms of real estate may have drastically changed.

Funds raising opportunistic debt Some hoteliers may be deterred from selling off their hotel assets out of fear that we are entering a buyers’ market. While purchasing volume is slowing down, there are numerous financial institutions such as J.P Morgan and Blackstone Group that are raising large amounts of capital for opportunistic investments. According to Anton Pil, head of global alternatives, JP Morgan, the company is raising $3 billion for real estate alone. “To get some of these markets functioning, you need a lot of capital. If you’re deploying $10 billion of equity, you’ve got to do big deals,” Pil states. These companies are going to look at large portfolios of assets with great post-pandemic potential. Consider lumping your assets together with another local hotel owner to increase your chances of selling. Finally, with declining mortgage rates, this opens another dimension of investors looking to seize valuable investment opportunities in the current state of the market. To conclude, as we slowly accept that the current situation might sustain for longer than we intended, it is ever important to make the right decisions. Have a sit-down with a professional asset manager to conduct appropriate analysis to evaluate the viability of your hotel investment surviving a low or no- income period. If you decide to hold, then it would be among your best interests to carefully redesign your strategic plan. 52

Happy May! I hope you have been practicing social distancing and are keeping safe! During this time, it is helpful that we keep ourselves healthy any way that we can. Your immune system is one of your best allies for viruses, the flu, and other infectious diseases. Ayurveda, India’s preventative medicine system, can be used to keep your health in check.
For our immune system to work effectively, our digestive system should be in good shape. That’s because if our digestion is dull, it can create a buildup of undigested food or toxins known as ama (which is when our gastric fluids are secreting more or less than usual) and manifest as symptoms such as bloating, constipation, and gas. If our digestion is sharp, it can

CCF Tea Recipe 1 tsp of coriander seeds 1 tsp of cumin seeds 1 tsp of fennel seeds 2 cups of water Boil the water with the seeds to desired strength (I prefer boiling until I am left with half the amount of water I started with because I like my tea strong). Strain the seeds out and it is ready! If you can, keep the tea insulated in a thermos so that it stays warm. From Neha Kakkar to Bharati Singh: filming at home trend of the hour most of the cast have shot trial portions through their phones. Later the videos will be run together to generate a cohesive feel. One of the first scenes shot was Kanika and Nishant with their family members engaging in a video chat.
The production process of the entertainment industry has been stalled due to the COVID-19 shutdown. It has been over a month that no fresh episodes were shot on TV channels. However the industry has risen to the occasion with hosts resuming shoots for their shows even while staying at home. If the creative briefs and the dialogues of the actors are given beforehand the shots can be approved by directors in advance and then actors can shoot from homes. The footage can be intermixed and finetuned afterwards. The shoot from home technique is well in use now.
Colors Choti Sardarni has also filmed a new episode. The lead cast has already filmed from their respective homes. There is news of the new villain’s entry in the show. Zee TV’s Guddan Tumse Na ho Payega will soon air a fresh episode. Actors have filmed the episode from their homes and
Bharti Singh’s Hum Tum aur Quarantine show is much awaited. This Colors daily show features quarantine life. Since Harsh and Limbacchiya have their own production unit at home, the team edits the footage from there. Neha Kakkar’s family reality show that deals with home singing contests is soon to be aired on Zee TV. This show featured Tony Kakkar, Neha Kakkar and Sonu Kakkar. Inventing new solutions and moving with the times seems to be the intelligent choice of the entertainment industry.

Anushka Sharma wears producer Kapil Sharma to shoot new content from home and hat for new series Paatal Lok re-launch show
The famous NH10 actress takes a turn at producing for the upcoming TV series Paatal Lok that is to be aired on Amazon Prime starting May 15. This marks the debut of Anushka Sharma in the digital world. The actress shared two teasers of Paatal Lok on social media though the recent teaser finally flashed the release date of this much awaited series. Anushka shared Paatal Lok’s teaser on Instagram where she tagged almost the entire cast and crew. The actress mentioned that this crime underbelly noir thriller will change people’s perception about the world they live in. The logo was also revealed in the last teaser that showed a dark world named Paatal Lok. A voice at the beginning of the teaser announces that “shastras talk about a world where justice is only attained by bloodshed. In this world demons mask themselves as humans and jungle rules prevail.” The concept of the intriguing underworld or the parallel universe is brought in this narration. Interestingly, the series deals with major four pillars of democracy - executive, legislative, press and judiciary. As expected the teaser gathered a lot of interest and anticipation. If you have seen the popular Netflix series Stranger Things then Paatal Lok will remind you of it. The underworld concept and red branches streaming out of the logo draws a good parallel to red lightning sky of the American series. The Pataal Lok series was created by Sudip Sharma (Udta Punjab fame). The series stars Jaideep Ahlawat, Gul Panag, Swastika Mukherjee, and Neeraj Kabi, among others. MAY 2020 - WWW.DESHVIDESH.COM
New episodes are upcoming for viewers of The Kapil Sharma Show as the comedy king decided to film shows from home. Like many other television and movie shoots, the lockdown forced The Kapil Sharma Show to stall. Channels have been relying on reruns of old shows and Sony has been managing with old reruns of The Kapil Sharma Show. News that Sharma will begin filming from home in the no audience format has come as a source of big relief to his fans and producers. All are now waiting eagerly for the show to start again after a temporary ‘quarantine’ break. However, Kapil Sharma isn’t a pioneer in this shooting from home concept. International celebrities like Jimmy Fallon, Ellen DeGeneres and Jimmy Kimmel are currently filming shows from home. Bharti Singh has come up with the Hum, Tum aur Quarantine comedy gig for Colors TV and is filmed at Haarsh Limbachiyaa and Bharti’s home. Kapil is utilizing the quarantine period to spend quality time with spouse Ginni and daughter Inayra. The comedy king recently posted a picture on Instagram of his daughter Inayra where she is shown dressed as Kanjak during Navaratri. 69

Watch Siddharth Shukla ace blindfold task on Hum, Tum Aur Quarantine
On April 14, Siddharth Shukla appeared on Harsh Limbachiyaa and Bharti Singh’s show Hum Tum aur Quarantine. All fans of this Big Boss 13 champion were revved up to see his appearance on the newly launched comedy show. Hum Tum aur Quarantine is Harsh and Bharti’s home show that they run using their home based production unit. On April 14, the comedy ace couple connected to Siddharth Shukla via video call. After a few pleasantries Bharati asked Shukla to keep staying indoors as the police lathi won’t go easy on him even if he is a big boss winner! Haarsh put Siddharth to work by first blindfolding him and then making him go round and round. Shukla was then asked to identify objects around him and he came up with all correct answers. His performance provoked Haarsh to joke that the lockdown has made Siddharth recognize the surroundings of his home so well. Siddharth was named to ask three of his favorite women by Haarsh. The Big Boss winner said that Bharti along with his sister and mom were his favorites. Hearing this, Bharti took a dig at Siddharth saying that Shehnaaz Gill wasn’t on the actors “favorite” list but she (Bharati) was!! For the record, Siddharth and Shehnaaz are allegedly in a relationship. You can watch Siddharth Shukla’s blindfold game video here. MAY 2020 - WWW.DESHVIDESH.COM
