HIGH TEA with an Indian Twist

Harman Foundation, a charity organisation founded by Mrs Harinder and Maninder Singh, the vision has always been to create social change and lead the way to a better world.

On the 27 November 2021, Harman Foundation hosted an event at Glenwood Community Hub Glenwood. The event was in collaboration with Indian Women Empower (IWE) organised an Indian High Tea, a successful fundraising Indian High Tea for Harman Foundation Empowerment and Refuge House (HER House). HER House, is a women’s refuge provides safe accommodation, support and case management services to vulnerable women and their children.

The event was attended by more than 110 guests. We were able to raise $3500.

The theme of the event was “Stronger Together”. Several community leaders and organisations representatives.

Harman Foundation acknowledged the contribution and ongoing support from Mansi Khanna Bhatia, who was also the coordinator for this successful unique event. Mrs Khanna was proudly announced as Harman Foundation’s ambassador for 2022.

Time for some truly inspiring Life Theatre! Rich Cultures Should Have Rich Relationships The project is a partnership model between Harman Foundation and Multicultural Health Services Western Sydney Local Health District A participatory action research approach is used where the community is an equal partner. The actors

and crew were from the community itself which adds authenticity and ownership to the production. The plays were also written by script writers from the community – English play written by Neena Badhwar (Titled: Love, Hope and Life) and Punjabi play written by Sukpreet Singh Dhamoon ( Titled: Makdi ) Today we are going to show one of the plays – Love Hope and Life This play is an effort to prevent domestic violence and contains material that have sensitive for some viewers. Harman Foundation expressed their sincere gratitude to Ms Melissa Monterio, CEO of CMRC & Founder of IWE, and World Malayalee Council, a global organisation for both their collaboration with Harman foundation to create awareness for shelter home “Her House”.

Harman foundation is committed to support victims of family and domestic violence. The aim of HER Home is to provide medium to long term transitional shelter for women and children, who are affected by domestic and family violence.

In addition to HER House, their services include operating 24/7 helpline (1800 116 675) to provide confidential support and counselling, chaplaincy services, food drive, organising resilience, relief, and recovery programs for the marginalised members of the society.
