Gaura Travel operated their 100th

Charter flight

In the month of March 2020, under great adversity, we summoned the will and along with the support and blessings of some great wellwishers, we operated our first charter flight.

We weren’t sure back then how many more we would fly. Hey, a part of us wasn’t even sure we would ever have another plane in the air again!

But we persevered. Our backs were against the wall, but we found room for courage. We banked upon the goodwill of our passengers and lo and behold, today, we flew our 100th charter flight!

We can barely believe that we actually scored a century of charters and we have you, our valued passengers to thank.

We thank you for the opportunity to connect you back with your loved ones. We thank you for the faith you placed in us.

We are grateful for you.

Great stories from our ‘charter’ chapter

In February, 2021, we flew our 10,000th passenger through our charter planes.

We still remember talking to our 10,000th passenger at the airport just as he was about to board (and now we have flown well over 20,000 passengers!). We offered him a business class ticket and the happiness he experienced and expressed remains indescribable.

Later that evening, we also celebrated the event with colleagues, well-wishers from the industry and friends.

Even that night, we did not imagine that we would put a 100 charter planes in the air.

We realised one important lesson: that the human spirit wants to fly free and it can never ever be captured for long.

Want to travel, but haven’t booked?

If you’re seeing friends or family, choose an outdoor venue.

Open or well-ventilated spaces reduce the risk of transmission of COVID-19 because infectious particles are more quickly diffused in the open air than in spaces with less ventilation.

Transmission of COVID-19 is more common indoors, where there may be less space to physically distance, and where people may come into contact with droplets and aerosolised particles more easily.

Did you get a positive result from your rapid antigen test?

Don’t panic! Go to your nearest COVID-19 testing clinic and get a PCR (nose and throat swab) test and selfisolate until you get your test results.

You will get a text message from NSW Health within 72 hours with your PCR results – you must follow the advice provided in this text message.

A few things to remember to keep you and those around you safe:

• If you get a positive rapid antigen test result late at night, get tested first thing the next morning. • If you can’t get to the testing clinic yourself, ask a friend or someone that you live with for help - wear a mask, sit in the back seat and keep the windows open

Check testing clinic opening hours before leaving home:

Been around someone who has COVID-19, but haven’t been contacted by NSW Health?

If you’re told by your family, friends, or workplace that you’ve been around a person who has COVID-19, but haven’t got a text message, follow the advice for people exposed to a case:

https://www.nsw.gov.au/.../ testing/self-isolation-rules...

To ease pressure on testing clinics, we encourage you to only get a PCR (nose and throat swab) test if you have any COVID-19 symptoms, are a household contact, have had a high or moderate risk exposure to COVID-19, or have been directed to take a test by NSW Health or the Department of Education. Interstate travellers are still able to get a PCR test at NSW COVID-19 testing clinics.

If you receive a case alert in your Service NSW app, please monitor for symptoms and only get a PCR test if you feel unwell.
