INDULGE: Can you share your journey into the world of professional modeling? How did you get started?
Jazell Rose: My journey into modeling really started when I turned 18. I started out in Phoenix, Arizona. I had a mentor (Kasper T Kunz with Silver Dragon Studios), he mentored me for about three months. In between that time, we did a lot of photo shoots. That helped me get out there and get seen! I then started working with a lot of other creatives in Arizona. I continued to grow within the industry and have taken other amazing opportunities from other states in person and online!
INDULGE: Who or what inspired you to pursue such a competitive career as a model?
Jazell Rose: I was actually named after a model in a way. Giselle Bundchen, tho my name is spelled Jazell… My mother said she spelled my name phonetically. Different I guess. Anyways she always told me I was going to be a model. So, I decided to try it and see what I could accomplish.
INDULGE: Can you share some highlights from your boudoir modeling career and any memorable experiences you’ve had?
Jazell Rose: I would say every moment in my boudoir modeling career has been memorable. Personally one of my most memorable moments would be my first ever moment. My first boudoir/ risqué shoot was with Don Young, this was in Arizona. This shoot, it taught me a lot. This showed me a lot as well as Don. Don is very versed in the boudoir industry. With everything I took in. I quickly realized then that I was more comfortable naked than I’ll ever be with clothes on.
INDULGE: Modeling often involves working with diverse teams of photographers, makeup artists, and stylists. How do you collaborate and communicate effectively to bring a vision to life?
Jazell Rose: Walking into a collaboration, I always make sure to have Communication already started before
meeting in person. I feel it is key to be prepared for every room that you walk into. With that being said, communication is part of the process and it comes easy when you’re working with the right people, about a project you and they care about! Don’t ever be shy to speak your mind, no idea is dumb no and question is stupid!
To me, boudoir truly is a form of art when it is displayed with passion and detail.

INDULGE: What challenges have you encountered in the modeling industry, and how did you overcome them?
Jazell Rose: I feel the biggest challenge I’ve encountered in the modeling industry is myself. People may say growth, support and connections are hard to acquire. I do agree. They aren’t necessarily hard, but they do take work! I personally feel like the biggest challenge is committing everything to grow. It takes time and energy. This is a craft, it gets competitive. It gets expensive as well!
Can you commit your mind & body?
Can you afford it?
Is it enough?
And does it make you happy?
I feel like any answer to those questions can sometimes be a challenge.
INDULGE: Can you discuss the importance of body positivity and self-confidence in boudoir modeling, both for yourself and the clients you work with?
Jazell Rose: You have to have self-confidence to survive. Being 100% honest from the bottom of my soul, this industry will eat you alive if you don’t love yourself.
Self-love and confidence not only shows through the camera, but as well as to the people you may want to work with. Self-respect is respected. That being said, self-love and confidence are the keys to success in the modeling industry.
I personally grew up with a very strong single mother,
so I learned that confidence from her. It was taught young! To me, being confident in your body is just the same as being confident in your life. They are both essential to success!
INDULGE: How do you handle requests for specific poses or styles that you may not be comfortable with, and how do you communicate your boundaries effectively?
Jazell Rose: Boundaries are key in the boudoir/risqué industry, especially in that industry! Know when to say no. Know when to say you’re uncomfortable and if anyone has a problem with those two words, then you should leave. That is my advice and personally, if I feel uncomfortable with what is being requested of me, I will make it known. If it is continued to be pressed in an uncomfortable manner, I will leave. I never go to Photoshoots alone. Personally, I’m not the type of person to do any thing that I don’t wanna do. Free will is convenient.
INDULGE: In your opinion, what makes boudoir photography truly captivating, and how do you contribute to achieving that as a model?
Jazell Rose: I love boudoir, it’s truly captivating. I have always felt the world has so many restraints, especially when it comes to bodies. To me, boudoir truly is a form of art when it is displayed with passion and detail. I love, love for the craft and my contribution is private… discrete if you may.
I feel I’ve achieved this as a model with the captivation of it all. I love pushing boundaries and capturing truly creative beautiful moments. Capturing freedom and sexual expression. In a nutshell.
INDULGE: How do you stay updated on industry trends and continuously improve your skills as a model?
Jazell Rose: Oh The best way to stay updated is TikTok, haha! And staying connected with mutuals on social media and just creating what is authentic to yourself. I improve my skills by studying my craft. I am always practicing. Practice makes perfect, I am always learning and connecting with myself. As a model, the process looks a little different to improve your skill because it really is how comfortable you are in front of the camera!
As well as working out is how to make you look the best you can in front of the camera! Which is a lot of working out and skin care!
INDULGE: Can you share any advice for aspiring models looking to establish themselves in the industry?
Jazell Rose: My advice is, don’t be shy to jump on opportunities, to ask about opportunities, and to talk to people to make connections. You never know what door may be open for you.
As well as keep posting content for the community that you want to grow in, show your dedication online! Lastly, trust your gut! Never shoot alone! Catch eyes! Be kind! Be appreciative!
INDULGE: How do you maintain a healthy work-life balance while pursuing a career that demands a hectic schedule?
Jazell Rose: When I started I was 18! I was working in a retirement home and working as a Bikini Barista, when I decided to start modeling. So, yeah it takes time. Between shifts, early mornings at 4 AM, late nights till midnight and days off. I would dedicate all my time modeling. Sometimes shopping for shoots or any type of preparation for shoots, working out, salons, etc. Therefore, you can do it if you want to do it. Time management is key!
If you truly want to focus on modeling, try working a part-time job. Once you start making a profit from modeling, you can focus on growing in the industry and making that your main profit. It’s possible if you really put care and time into the industry.
INDULGE: A little off subject… but I feel that music can often play a big role in our lives. What 5 albums or artists have made you who you are today?
Jazell Rose: Oh, let’s see… Artist! Akon definitely Shaggy!
SELENA “comp la flor” Santana!
The BEACH BOYS and BEATLES for my grandma. - I love music!
Thanks for having me!
She walked into the restaurant and spoke to the hostess at the podium. After a brief exchange, she was handed a sheet of paper and a pen. She sat herself at an empty booth and began filling out the job application. Everyone took notice of her. I’m certain she got noticed wherever she went.
There were a handful of Filipino-American men sitting at my bar, otherwise the restaurant was empty. They started whispering about her. One spoke loudly enough to ensure she overheard him.
The restaurant was perched next to the ocean overlooking Lahaina Harbor. The large, open-air windows gave a spectacular view of fishing boats and sightseeing catamarans cruising in and out of the peers. She met with Frank, the owner. Her name was Debra. Frank offered her a cocktail waitress job.
After working with Debra for a couple of weeks I learned she came to Maui from Florida via Santa Barbara, where she met and fell in love with a rich man. He moved to Maui. She followed him across the Pacific Ocean. Things didn’t work out. He broke her heart. She was on her own starting over. Again.
After work we sat on a bench outside the restaurant talking. She asked me for a ride home. I lived on the shabby southside of the island in Kihei. She lived on the north side of the island in posh Kaanipali. The trip to her home was out of my way.
I said yes.
On the way I learned more about her. She had a close friend in Santa Barbara who managed properties. She let Debra stay in a

three story condominium in a gated community. I pulled up to her doorstep in my late model Valiant. As she opened her door I said, “Good night.” She asked me if I was coming in with her.
I said yes.
I knew what I was getting myself into. I was in over my head with her in more ways than one. I was 23, Debra was 28. She was looking for security, I had none to offer. When we went out, men would approach her as if I weren’t there. That didn’t bother me so much. She always made feel like I was hers. What bothered me more was her broken heart.
She had never gotten over “him”. It was as if he was with us everywhere we went. Sometimes, after we made love, she would softly cry. Looking back, I don’t recall the moment when we parted company. I knew I had to leave the island. I knew I had to use the G.I. Bill and get on with my life.
I knew I could never completely console her. I remember sitting in a 737 on the tarmac of Kahului airport saying goodbye to Maui. Saying goodbye to the beaches and parks in Kihei. Saying goodbye to my bartending life in Lahaina. Saying goodbye to Debra.
