KRISTYN CORDOVA Fashion Model

INDULGE: Kristyn, how are you? Thank you so much for taking time out of your day. Tell us how you got started in modeling.

KRISTYN CORDOVA: Interesting enough, I never thought of myself as a model. I spent most of my 20s nose deep in books studying. I started to get modeling offers off of my social media. Since then have continued to meet really amazing photographers and build my portfolio. I feel that modeling helped me develop confidence in myself and see myself in a different light.

INDULGE: Our lives revolve so much around emotion, whether it’s in work or family life. If you were forced to choose only one, which emotion, more than any other, drives you to stay involved in such a competitive industry? Is it joy, anger, desire, passion or pride and why?

KRISTYN CORDOVA: I would say, “Desire”. Desire to test the boundaries that once confined me. Desire to pursue what others are too scared to. Desire to instill confidence in those who have yet to make that leap.

INDULGE: I’m sure you have had many photoshoots. Please share 1 or 2 of your favorite shoots with us.

KRISTYN CORDOVA: Can I share 3? So hard to pick, but I love testing the boundaries.

Projection shoots always test me to work on line work and artistry. He has some amazing ideas and I feel I have learned so much in his shoots.

Jannette Orozco @djannetteo

We had a great time doing a sexy urban photo shoot. I remember during that shoot I felt a sense of letting go and just embracing being a woman.

Aldrian Alfonso @ar1photography

This shoot was in a beautiful setting and I felt like it captured my feminine side. I feel that these photos helped me see myself as a model.

INDULGE: Which ingredient do you think makes you special and unique as a model in an industry overflowing with new faces and ideas?

KRISTYN CORDOVA: I think we are all unique and beautiful in our own way. However, I find that what makes me unique is more than my looks, but my ability to appreciate those around me and learn from those who have more experience than I.

INDULGE: Which people or books have had the most influence on you and why?

KRISTYN CORDOVA: I feel like people in general have influenced me. Friendships, acquaintances and family have helped drive me to continue to grow as a model.

INDULGE: In your opinion, what would you say is the #1 key to success?

KRISTYN CORDOVA: Consistency. Without consistency nothing of true substance can be achieved. Consistently working on your craft and pushing yourself to improve your weaknesses, learn and develop your skills. Without it, one will become stagnant and never achieve the next level.

INDULGE: Talk about the biggest failure you’ve had. What did you learn from it?

KRISTYN CORDOVA: I’ve had many failures that helped me grow. However, my biggest would have to be when I lost sight of my goals and those who mattered around me. I learned that I needed to focus and never forget what truly matters after it all.

INDULGE: A little off subject, but maybe not.. I feel that music can often play a big role in our lives. What 5 albums or artists have made you who you are today?

KRISTYN CORDOVA: I love music! It’s one of the things that can really help one through their day, alter your mood and get you into the right mindset. I love the band Kaleo, they are out of Iceland and I feel that their songs hit deep. I love the song “Wild As Her” by Corey Kent. I think this describes me to a “T”. I love Sade, “Smooth Operator”. This will always get me feeling some type of way. It’s fire! I do like music that gets me hyped up and I love the unapologetic style of G-Eazy, and I’ve been really liking stuff from Russ, lately.

INDULGE: What advice can you give other individuals who want to follow in your footsteps?

KRISTYN CORDOVA: Work hard and be consistent, but most of all… take chances.

INDULGE: What does a typical day in your week look like?

KRISTYN CORDOVA: So, I generally start my day around 5 am and workout! Then, it’s generally chaos trying to get ready for work. I start seeing patients at 8 am until 5 pm. Then, I’m running around watching softball and football with the family. Weekends are usually the time I can have some time to explore, try new things, eat out etc. In the upcoming years, I want to start getting out and traveling more.

INDULGE: How can fans-to-be follow your career? Please share your social media platforms.

KRISTYN CORDOVA: My IG or Facebook is the best! @Heart_Brielle.

INDULGE: Again, thank you for sitting down with us. Is there anything else you’d like to share with us?

KRISTYN CORDOVA: I would like to thank you, the magazine and all those involved for the opportunity to be a part of this!
