The ICLEI Researchers’ Symposium The International ICLEI Urban Research Symposium, or Researchers’ Symposium for short, is a multiple-day event which is integrated into every ICLEI World Congress. The motivation behind the Symposium This Researchers’ Symposium, the 4th in ICLEI’s 25-year history, brings together leading urban sustainability researchers to present on topics in international policy making and sustainable development. Interested researchers were invited to submit abstracts on one of four themes: • • • •
Implementing the Sustainable Development Goals at the urban level Urban Nexus and inter-sectoral approaches to urban sustainable development Monitoring, Reporting, and Verifying – Performance driven urban sustainability Think tanks for cities
ICLEI has partnered with the Centre for Sustainable Community Development at Simon Fraser University (Burnaby, Canada), Pando | Sustainable Communities, Local Environment: The International Journal of Justice and Sustainability, and the Seoul Institute to lead this series of researcher-based dialogues.
