OJ
family
Designed by Ole Jensen, the OJ family consists of a wall, a floor and a table fixture. Same harmonious idiom, yet differently interpreted. Each fixture has its own identity, while still sharing a clear, common style with the others – precisely what characterises a family.

Creative hands Ole Jensen creates his designs by hand. His training as a potter is clearly communicated in his organic designs. Soft and round, interspersed with edges, beautifully displayed in his version of a jug. His designs simply and precisely reveals their functions to us all.

Simple is hard Simple, yet complicated. Focus on details, focus on the whole. A new ďŹ xture project and a new designer, new at least to Louis Poulsen. Ole Jensen is renowned in Denmark for his designs particularly of porcelain but also unique and brilliant objects like his rubber washing-up bowl. The washing-up bowl is testament to Ole Jensen’s dedication to details.

timeless Often used. But what does it really mean? Something that lasts forever? Or something we cannot refer to a speciďŹ c era? We believe that Louis Poulsen lighting belongs in any age. Our products appear contemporary in all styles, cultures and architectural settings, precisely because we do not look for inspiration in trends, but in our perception of lighting and aesthetics. Nothing less!

Vintage décor. Moss, rot and hues of green. A mix of impressions. No one colours an area like nature itself – everything else is an illusion. Lighting is a supplement. A small garden – actually a nursery in southern Sweden – sets the framework for this nostalgic, yet contemporary dream world of nature and scenery.

Clay is his material of choice, and the process lends a special edge to his design. It grows and develops from something simple and natural. His objects therefore merge humour, functionality and joy of life. He has received myriad international design awards, e.g. the Thorvald Bindesbøll medal (2004) and the IF Design Award and exhibits at several renowned museums throughout Europe. 2. Christian Flindt (1972). Architect from Aarhus School of Architecture. Has run his own design business since 2003. Spreads over many design genres. Has received the 2005 Danish Design Award and the 2006 Danish Bo Bedre Danish Designer of the Year Award. 3. Verner Panton (1926-1998). Architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Art. Founder of Studio X in Notting Hill, London, which focuses on exploiting the potentials of digital technologies. His skills as an interpreter of organic design has brought him in contact with some of the world’s strongest brands, and his works have been exhibited at e.g. MoMa in New York, Centre Pompidou in Paris and, naturally, the London Design Museum. 6. Vilhelm Wohlert (1920-2007). Architect. 1968-86 Professor at the Royal Danish Academy of Art, honorary member since 2001. Designed Louisiana Museum of Modern Art in Humlebæk and the Danish Music Museum in Copenhagen. Received many awards and exhibited throughout the world. Designed the lighting for many churches in cooperation with Louis Poulsen. 7. Shoichi Uchiyama (1947). Trained at the YMCY, Institute of Design in Tokyo. Louis Poulsen’s most prominent lighting designer and co-initiator of the company’s lighting philosophy. A cultural celebrity who also engaged in revue, satire and social criticism. Cooperation with Louis Poulsen started in 1925 and continued until his death. 9. Arne Jacobsen, AJ, (1902-1971). Graduated as architect from the Royal Danish Academy of Art in 1927. Established his own drawing office shortly after. Worldknown for his functional and modernistic design, which has mainly left its mark on architecture and furniture design. Worked closely with Louis Poulsen in the 50s60s, during which period he created most of his fixtures. 10. Louise Campbell (1970). Industrial designer from the Danish Design School (1995). Ranks among the top Danish designers today. International exhibitions in Japan, Italy and England.
