Xerox Premier Partner Document Express realised that a large well respected legal firm like Brooke North would be targeted by other suppliers, so adopted a consultative approach rather than simply selling features of the technology like its competitors. In particular, Document Express engaged Brooke North on a number of levels to really understand both the company and key individuals’ requirements. It also realised that the new solution would in some ways change the way in which the firm worked so sought to understand their daily and longer term needs and involve them in the process. By adopting this consultative approach, Brooke North was able more accurately to identify and co-ordinate its print, scanning and fax requirements. In addition it was able to get a clearer picture of its external print costs and how these could be reduced. During this consultative process, fax and scanning issues came to the fore. As a result, Document Express recommended the fully configured Xerox colour capable solution, including 4 x Xerox 545, 4 x Xerox 7132, 2 x Xerox 7245 and 1x Xerox 250 all fully networked with scan/fax facilities. The proposed solution also included the implementation of a print room using Xerox production equipment such as a Xerox colour 240 and a high speed Xerox 4110 and Xerox wide format printer. In addition, the fully inclusive Total Volume Plan (TVP) PagePack service agreement was introduced as a way to control costs and administration, while also offering the customer a unique upgrade path. The aim of this approach was to improve the way in which Brooke North worked by enabling the company to standardise on colour output and introduce a scanning solution that would provide a solid basis for improving its document management system. Document Express also realised that Brooke North wanted a genuine partnership and therefore outlined a clear account management strategy.
