Play Simple Netball!

Play Simple Netball Ltd Play Simple Netball is a successful sports business which delivers fun, social netball leagues for all ages. A Play Simple Netball franchise is your opportunity to be your own boss and build a business which suits your lifestyle! The first Play Simple Netball leagues were established in Manchester in 2006. There are now over 900 members and over 100 teams playing every single week. This successful model has been replicated in other areas of the UK, where the numbers of netball leagues are continuing to grow. Our members enjoy social netball leagues with the minimum amount of organisation on their part. Play Simple Netball organise the leagues with ease, using our innovative, online system to assist franchisees and teams alike. Using this system makes it simple for us and even simpler for our players, who are free to enjoy the sport and social aspects, rather than worry about the organisational side. Play Simple Netball provides a social environment for members to meet their friends, improve their health and fitness without joining a gym, build new friendships and strengthen existing ones.

What our members say... “I joined a netball team in Manchester in 2007 and I have played almost every week since and made some amazing friends. It’s so much easier to get to a Play Simple Netball game than go to the gym - you don’t want to let your team down and it’s a fun way to keep fit. I love it!”

Play Simple Netball Member, Manchester “The netball, both coaching and league games, is fab!! I am so re-living my earlier sporty days and enjoying playing in a team, even though we tend to lose! We all get on great and support each other. The organisation is great too and you have some great umpires. I really don’t know how you do it but glad you do.”

The Founder Play Simple Netball was launched in 2006 by Joanna Wilks, who used the skills and experience gained from her work within the sports industry to quickly grow a number of successful netball leagues across Manchester. The emphasis was placed on the fun, social side of netball whilst simultaneously developing easy systems and processes to ensure the successful delivery of multiple leagues at ground level. As Managing Director, Joanna is still actively involved in running the company from their Head Office in Manchester, recruiting and training franchisees to build their own businesses using the Play Simple Netball brand and their systems and processes.

Frequently Asked Questions Do I need previous netball coaching or umpiring experience? No, whilst it can be an advantage to be a qualified netball coach and umpire, there’s nothing stopping you becoming a franchisee if you’re not. Some of our franchisees are coaches and umpires but not all are; others delegate these tasks. If you want to be involved in the delivery of netball sessions or to umpire in your leagues, you will need a minimum of a UKCC Netball Coaching Level 2 qualification to coach or a ‘C’ Award to umpire.

Do I need to have previous experience of running my own business? No, this is the benefit of a franchise – you will be supported and mentored throughout the process of setting up and running your business. Through your induction and ongoing support, you will receive the right training to allow you to recruit players, coaches and umpires to set up and run several leagues, alongside maximising your profits.

How long is the term of a franchise agreement? The franchise agreement is for an initial term of five years. You will be given a copy of the franchise agreement further on in the application process. Should you choose to renew after your initial five year term has ended, you would sign the franchise agreement being offered to new franchisees at that time.

Can I sell my franchise? Yes, you can sell your franchise assuming the sale meets the criteria set out in the Franchise Agreement and that the new franchisee has been approved by the franchisor. Further information regarding the sale of your franchise is included in the Franchise Agreement.

Can I purchase more than one territory? Yes, there is scope to purchase more than one territory though we would recommend that you become established in one territory first before looking to expand your business.

Can I reserve a territory? Yes, you can reserve a territory for an agreed amount of time with a non-refundable deposit. Please ask for more details.

How are the franchise territories determined? A professional mapping company will draw up your territory. They ensure each territory includes similar numbers of women and girls (our target market) in each geographical area.

Can I start with a part time franchise? Our franchise affords itself to someone looking for a ‘5-9pm’ business where they can earn an extra income alongside working full or part time or juggling family life. There is scope to grow a part time business into a full time business with time or you can put all your efforts into the business from the outset and aim to quickly grow a number of leagues. www.simplenetball.co.uk | Play Simple Netball | 09
