1965-2015 INTRODUCTION In 1965 the citizens of Inver Grove Township and Inver Grove Village voted for the unification of Village and Township into one entity, Inver Grove Heights. Today the City of Inver Grove Heights is home to approximately 35,000 residents who have chosen this area for its engaging mix of residential development, commercial facilities, schools, parks, and natural beauty. Inver Grove Heights is the story of its people – the Dakota Sioux, Irish and German – who formed this area as farmland. From the unique and diverse history of the community to the growth, change, opportunity, values and quality of life that has formed the last 50 years of Inver Grove Heights history – this is a great place to call home. On behalf of the Mayor and City Council, congratulations to the City of Inver Grove Heights on celebrating its 50th Anniversary.
