Snapshots of programming in SCRPA member agencies

City of Myrtle Beach Happenings

(Above) Youth Cheer Clinics, organized by Myrtle Beach Recreation Leader Lisa Lesnick, taught children the fundamentals of Cheer and beginner dance routines. Each clinic was led by different volunteer coaches. (Upper Right) Youth Football Skills & Drills led by Myrtle Beach Recreation Leader Mike Foltz. This program was designed to teach children the fundamentals of youth football without contact. (Bottom Right) Fall Baseball Machine Pitch League organized by Athletic Coordinator Chris Millsaps. The main focus of this league is to teach the fundamentals of youth baseball. The Machine Pitch League is co-ed and run by volunteer coaches.

City of Charleston Trick or Treat Boo Thru

(Left) On Friday, October 30, the City of Charleston Recreation Department hosted Trick or Treat Boo Thru in Hampton Park, which was a drive thru Halloween event. Community organizations and business handed out candy, while recreation staff decorated areas of the park and dressed up like characters. Despite the long line of traffic, we saw all smiles!

SCRPA Anniversary 75K Finisher

(Right) Mount Pleasant’s Shelli Davis finished the “2020 Virtual 75K Run. Walk. Roll.” in 6.1 hours through a combination of walking, running, biking, and roller skating.

Aiken County Food Distribution

Spartanburg County Slime Day

(Left) Members of the Aiken County Parks, Recreation, and Tourism department, along with Golden Harvest Food Bank, Senior center volunteers, and members of the Wagener-Salley HS football team distributed food to over 200 needy families in the community on August 27. (Above) There’s happy and then there’s “oh my gosh! It’s slime day!” happy. This activity is always a favorite among our after school program participants!
