Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum

Renzo Piano designed the extension to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum in Boston. The new wing, that encompasses areas for concerts, exhibitions and lecture rooms, is fitted with continuous facade outdoor blinds and interior blinds designed by Resstende, a leading Italian roller blind manufacturer.

conceived specifically for external applications on vast building façades. The system is composed of round cassette box, stainless steel guide bars and custom-made mounting brackets. Boston system reduces the problems of load resistance on the all-bearing structure and the blind becomes integral parto of the buildings architecture.

The Traction kit is an exclusive forced traction mechanism designed to guarantee exceptional fabric tension, suitable for horizontal or vertical outdoor applications. The Traction kit is situated inside the round FD55 bottom rail. A gas piston ensures greater wind resistance and stability of the blind when installed outdoors.
