The city of Krefeld has a long tradition of design studies. For more than 100 hundred years, generations of students have studied multitude forms of design here. Today, the Design Department of the Niederrhein University of Applied Sciences offers an art- and practice-oriented program with a variety of concentrations. In doing so, it seeks to follow the University’s motto, “crossing boundaries” — the belief that professional excellence and integrative competence are keys to a students’ future success. Each year, the Department welcomes about 130 new students into its BA of Design program. By offering vigorous and personal supervision, we help our students discover and develop their individual talents and build professional networks among their peers. The program’s areas of concentration are Communication Design, Product Design, and Environmental Design. Qualified BA graduates can further enhance their skills by applying to the transdisciplinary MA of Design Projects program.
