GENERATIVE MORPHOLOGIES V2.0

DesignMorphine DesignMorphine is a creative hub for design through workshops, lectures, projects & explorations in the field of architecture, design & the arts. We believe that a successful mission starts with a great desire for innovation in design methods, practice, and education. Our team is comprised of many talented designers giving us a multidisciplinary approach to design and its education through a diverse skillset which ranges across a gradient of design applications.

DesignMorphine Summer School 2015 DESIGNMORPHINE SUMMER SCHOOL 2015 took place from the 4th to the 26th of July at the Union of the Architects in Sofia, Bulgaria which hosted 72 participants from Bulgaria, Austria, the United States, Israel, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey, Chile, London and others. The event consisted of two workshops, DYNAMIC MUTATIONS V1.0 and GENERATIVE MORPHOLOGIES V2.0, as well as four intensive courses. These workshops provided the opportunity for the participants to use Autodesk Maya, Rhinoceros, Grasshopper 3D, V-ray, AfterEffects, and explore 3D printing using the two 3D printers that were available throughout the duration of the workshops. The aim was not just teaching technical skills, but to explore new work flows with the students to give them the ability to follow their own interests and ideas by creating a project that each participant can proudly include in their portfolio’s using industry leading programs and techniques.

Generetive Morphologies v2.0 GENERATIVE MORPHOLOGIES V2.0 is a workshop for architects, students of architecture and arts, professional designers and artists who would like to learn new techniques of design, production and presentation; to feel the workflow of some of the top ranked architectural universities. It is an opportunity for professionals to join and exchange ideas with a team of world reputable tutors. GENERATIVE MORPHOLOGIES V2.0 focused on exploring the potential of parametrically driven generative processes and their combinations. By those processes we mean growth algorithms, production systems, physics and chemistry based reactions. While some of those notions may be known for decades, the usage of parametric software can ease merging and crossing between them, therefore enriching them with new possibilities. One of the main ideas behind the workshop is to collide emergent processes with deterministic systems and gain control over the final complex outcome of the algorithm, while maintaining its valuable qualities. Through this the result became a unique blend of iterative processes with geometric theory and deconstruction. Loop based processes such as boids and swarms typically become simply translated into stream lines, point clouds, or some thickened pipe mesh. It was very important to us to not just stop at the initial iterative operations so in this case we stressed the importance of being very considerate of unique geometries, such as cells, to become symbiotic in relationship with the iterative process so that geometry reacts to intelligence and vice versa.
