The sale also is a time when all family members work together to produce a top-notch event. Also, without our tremendous crew, none of this would be possible. It is also a time to reconnect with so many of our good friends and customers. We pride ourselves in building relationships with the greatest people and cattle people.
We offer a diverse group of females. It includes some of the best show prospects as well as young open heifer calves with the genetics and numbers to become future donors. The bred heifers are always a group that is extremely popular. All our replacements with heifer calf pregnancies sell. The cow calf pairs are selected because they are nursing our best A.I. show prospects. These cows have been one of best values every year and many sell at very reasonable prices.
The frozen portion of this sale includes some of our freshest genetics. It includes a very diverse group of embryos and semen.

• Each animal will be sold to the highest bidder. The auctioneer will settle any disputes as to bids, and decisions on such matters will be final. Each animal will be at purchaser’s risk as soon as sold and will be turned over to the purchaser as soon as practicable after settlement. All announcements made from the auction block on sale day by the owner or the auctioneer will take precedence over statements in the catalog.
• Colyer Herefords will precondition and wean heifers prior to shipment.
• Buyers have the option of leaving females at Colyer Herefords and having them exhibit the heifers at the national shows.
• Buyer must insure their purchase while being in the care of Colyer Herefords.
• The total cost of exhibiting the heifer at Reno will be $1,500 and OKC, Denver, or Fort Worth will be $1,800 per show. This includes entries, show preparation and related show expenses.
• Due to increased feed costs, an additional $8/day will be charged while the heifer is at the ranch, beginning November 1, 2024.
• Any banners, ribbons or hardware won will belong to the buyer.
• Buyer will take possession after the respective show and will be responsible for arranging transportation.
• Females that are sold as 1/2 interests, the costs will be split 50/50.
• Ownership choices – One-half interest vs. two retained flushes. We have found that some buyers like to own the entire animal and some like to only own one-half interest, therefore, we have come up with this concept so the buyer can choose which one they would like.
• 1/2 Interest Option: If one-half interest is chosen, the buyer will own one-half of the animal. The buyer will pay one-half of the show cost. It is the same as it has been every year on cattle where we have retained one-half interest. We will keep the female and breed her and when flushed, send half the eggs to the new owner. Colyer Herefords will
pay maintenance costs of the female after her show career. Buyer will pay for their portion of the flush cost when embryos are sent to them or we will alternate every other flush with the new owner, attempting to get equal amounts for each party. If the buyer has the ability to flush the female at their location, they can take possession of the animal and we will assume the opposite position and take one-half the embryos or alternate flushes.
• Retain Two Flush Option: If this option is chosen, the buyer will take possession of the heifer after her show career is complete. If shown, the buyer will pay full show expense. Colyer Herefords will retain the right to flush the female twice after she is in production, at the buyer’s convenience, for a minimum of six No. 1 eggs.
• Colyer Herefords retains the right to one flush on all females in the auction.
GUARANTEE ... All cattle are guaranteed to be breeders. In case an adjustment is required, it will be made with a replacement animal of equal value to the animal in question or credit on the purchase of another animal.
GENETIC ABNORMALITIES ... Any cattle with a questionable parentage have been DNA tested and are IEF.
BREEDING INFORMATION ... Current breeding dates and calving dates are furnished in the catalog. Any changes will be announced sale day.

Arlo is the 2024 Denver Champion and 2024 Fort Worth Champion Bull. This is his first set of calves to be offered and we feel he is proving himself to be the elite sire we had hoped he would be. He sires so much color and his calves have the same look and power as he does. Arlo was the lead-off bull in our Denver 2023 Champion Pen of Bulls. He was one of the most talked about young calves we have ever raised. He was the high selling bull in our 2023 sale for $165,000 to Hoffman Herefords, Nebraska and Buck Cattle, Oklahoma. One week later we held a special auction for semen sales where he more than paid for himself in one night selling over 600 units for a gross of $270,000. This young sire is exciting on many levels. He has the structure and build to put him in the same conversation as Miles but this one has the color and pigment along with the carcass traits to make him the next level of genetic capability. We were very excited to partner with GKB and Bill King on this exciting new sire. Shortly after we purchased Legion he went directly to Hoffman AI and started producing high quality semen that we were able to breed a large group of replacement females and donor cows to flush. We had incredible conception and feel this young sire will take breeding programs to another level. It is hard to find another bull in the breed that will match him in terms of genetic values. However when you study his structure and phenotype he becomes even more impressive. This is not just a bull with numbers that fails to pass the eye exam he is a bull that can be used on donors that need improvement with EPD but will not sacrifice structure and balance. This is the first set of calves to evaluate out of 2111 and we feel this will validate his value as a herd sire. We have used this bull a lot but we feel he needs used even harder. He is a proven heifer bull but also one you can flush some powerful donors to and end up with elite cattle. A great example is lot 5 in this auction. Cuda Belle tied with Denali as the second high selling bull in the 2023 Bull Sale, selling to Knox Brothers. His sire, Barracuda is one of the heavy used calving ease sires offered by ABS Global. With the recent passing of Sherry’s dad Ray Shaffer, we wanted to pay tribute to these two great couples that helped guide us and supported us throughout the years. They were among what is known as the “Greatest Generation” and we certainly agree. Ray Colyer served in the Army and Ray Shaffer served in the Navy during WWII. Both couples were devoted to family and very supportive of all of us as we strived to produce quality cattle. They were always positive in our conquest and helped push us to produce the “Best of the Best”. We are dedicated to keeping their legacy moving forward and appreciate all of their support through the many years.
