Come P lay! Club Sports in HSV BOCCE The Bocce Ball courts are located across from the Coronado Community Center. The game of skill and concentration, rather than physical stamina, is fun and easy to learn. It is played on a flat surface (similar to a bowling lane) with the object to get game balls as close as possible to the target ball (pallino). All equipment is provided by the Village Bocce Ball Club. HSVBocceClub.wixsite. com/mysite

LAWN BOWLING The Village Green Bowls Club is active all year. Lawn bowling is a game with moderate exercise. The game is played on a green with a target ball and is similar to regular bowling. However, the balls weigh only two to three pounds and are less strenuous on the legs and back. The object of the game is to get balls near the target ball. The balls are biased, so they are rolled left to right or right to left making lawn bowling a challenge. HSVVGBC.org

PICKLEBALL Pickleball is a popular court sport played with a hard paddle and a perforated plastic ball. A hybrid of badminton, tennis, and ping-pong, pickleball is a fun, multigenerational game that can be played at all levels, making it possible for even those with limited physical abilities to stay active. The Hot Springs Village Pickleball Club consists of 14 fenced courts hosting 250+ players per week, and the courts have LED lights for night play. The Club conducts weekly planned play sessions for all skill levels of play, women’s, men’s, and mixed groups, as well as organizes free introductory lessons with loaner equipment. Competitive play is also offered for all skill levels. Each year the Club hosts two Open House events for residents and guests alike to try the sport. HSVPickleBall.com

TENNIS The Hot Springs Village Tennis Center is a 13-court complex with USPTA Elite Tennis Professional, lounge, and pavilion. Ten of the center’s courts are clay, and the remaining three are hard surface. The HSV Tennis Association, with nearly 400 members, offers league play at all levels including mixed leagues, women’s and men’s doubles, Junior Tennis, and USTA Adult Leagues. HSVta.org 8

CROQUET Our Croquet Lawn is an artificial turf located at 200 DeSoto Park Lane, next to the Bocce Ball courts. In croquet, a player uses a mallet to hit a ball through hoop-shaped wickets. The sport is great for those looking for a game that is easy on the joints and requires moderate physical activity. Croquet requires only one basic skill, that of propelling a ball with a degree of accuracy. The principal difference between croquet and most other outdoor sports is that croquet requires delicacy and skill, rather than speed or strength. It also requires tactical ability and forward planning rather than quick reflexes. HSVcroquet.org

HSV ARCHERY RANGE The Hot Springs Village Archery Range is located off Fenix Way. The range has two bails as backstops. The POA will add more bails as needed. Annual archery passes are available, call 501-9225556.

FLINGGOLF® IN HOT SPRINGS VILLAGE! This natural, fun, and athletic alternative to traditional golf is a familyfriendly game similar to lacrosse and requires just one special club. Easy to start and fun to master, FlingGolf® is played on the golf course. Instead of hitting a golf ball with a club, you use a single FlingStick® thrower to hurl the ball and shape every shot from tee to hole. You can even play in the same foursome as traditional golfers. Want to give it a try? The Hot Springs Village Golf Committee has given its stamp of approval for trial rounds of FlingGolf® play after 2 p.m. at the Coronado Course. All you need is a FlingStick® and a golf ball. Call 501-922-5556 today for more information.

LOOKING FOR LUXURY? Check out the Hot Springs Village real estate in the Diamante area. Top ranked Diamante Golf Club is the only private membership golf club in Hot Springs Village. The course offers challenging and flexible play like six golf courses in one. Spread over 7,560 yards from its back set of six tees, Diamante has been ranked the 38th most-difficult course in the nation by Golf Digest. Diamante includes an 18-hole golf course, driving range, putting green, and short game area. Diamantememberships.com

Lake Catherine A 1,940-acre recreational lake known for its excellent bass and crappie fishing formed by Carpenter and Remmel Dams. Lake DeGray As evidenced by its popularity for fishing, camping, swimming, water-skiing, and other water sports, the 13,800-acre lake is a prime vacation and weekend getaway in west-central Arkansas. Lake Greeson Lake Greeson is a man-made lake that was originally created as a flood control and hydropower project by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Lake Hamilton Created in 1932 when the Arkansas Power and Light Company completed Carpenter Dam on the Ouachita River to generate electricity. Lake Ouachita Famous for its pristine water and scenic beauty, Lake Ouachita is the largest lake in the state (40,000 acres) with boating, fishing, paddle boarding, spear fishing,

Little Missouri River Little Mo as it is affectionately called, is a 147-mile-long waterway that runs from the Ouachita Mountains of southwest Arkansas into the rolling hills area in the surrounding countryside.

Ouachita River Below Lake Ouachita, the Ouachita River continues through the Ouachita Mountains, though two dams interrupt its flow near the resort town of Hot Springs to form Lakes Hamilton and Catherine. Saline River Paddle your canoe on the Saline River, one of the last major undammed streams in the Ouachita Mountain system.

DAMS Blakely Dam Blakely Mountain Dam is located just six miles from Piney, in Garland County, near Mountain Pine. Remmel Dam Remmel Dam is situated on the Ouachita River at Jones Mills (Hot Spring County).

Arkansas: The Natural State Arkansas is indeed a natural state with more than 2.9 million acres in three national forests, 600,000 acres of lakes, 9,000 miles of streams and rivers, and 1,500 miles of hiking trails. With an abundant population of game animals, hunters from around the world come to duck hunt in Stuttgart, trout fish the White River, and hook a trophy hybrid bass on Lake Ouachita. Other natural wonders of the state include some of the world’s finest quartz crystals (here in the Ouachita region) and the only diamond mine open to the public (near Murfreesboro). And sitting at the heart of the state, Hot Springs Village is in the center of it all!

Harris and Renshaw Physical Therapy Dry needling is the use of thin needles in physical therapy to relieve muscular pain and myofascial disorders. Dry needling targets the trigger points which are the direct sources of patient pain. It helps to accelerate the healing process by promoting increased circulation to the injured area, improving oxygen delivery, and providing stimulation of the neural pathways that can block pain messages. When combined with physical therapy, dry needling can help to alleviate acute and chronic tendonitis, athletic and sports-related overuse injuries, postsurgical pain, post-traumatic injuries, and many other conditions and disorders. 4656 Highway 7 N, Suite M, Hot Springs Village, AR 71909, 501-984-5575, Harrisandrenshawpt.com/locations/hot-springs-village/

BATH HOUSES The Fordyce Bathhouse The Fordyce Bathhouse has a long history of serving guests as it opened to the public in 1915. In 1962, the bathhouse was shut down, leaving it to reopen in May of 1989, after some serious renovations that left it looking like it did in its early years of business. The Fordyce Bathhouse now serves as the Visitors Center where guests of Downtown Hot Springs can go inside and take themselves on an all-inclusive tour of the beautiful stained-glass ceilings, marble walls, and statues. The bathhouse also features an informational video about what life used to be like when it was open for business. 369 Central Avenue, Hot Springs, AR 71901, 501-620-6715, Nps.gov Ozark Bathhouse Cultural Center After its prime from 1922-1977, the Ozark Bathhouse closed, only to later open in May of 2014 as the Ozark Bathhouse Cultural Center. The historic bathhouse is open and being used as a venue for park events and programs in conjunction with the community. The venue can also be rented out for private events. Aside from being a venue, the bathhouse also serves as a cultural center for the arts from Noon-5 PM Friday through Sunday. 491 Central Avenue, Hot Springs, AR 71901, 501-624-2701, Nps.gov 51
