he microbrewery phenomenon is alive and thriving in Arkansas! Across the country in the last 10 years, something strange and extraordinary has happened. A 200-year-old industry has exploded with new brewery establishments and more than doubled its workforce. What is equally amazing is that this has happened during a time when U.S. beer consumption has actually declined. The growth of microbreweries and craft beers is a direct outcome of changes in consumer taste, with people looking for fuller flavor and greater variety. Brew Fests are popping up across the country, reflecting the growing popularity of craft beers. Each year, the Ouachita Region hosts the Hot Springs Bath Haus Beer Festival and the Natural State Beer & Wine Festival. Central Arkansas also hosts a Great Arkansas Beer Festival, Food & Foam Fest. Today, there are more than 30 breweries across Arkansas,

ycle along the West Mountain Trail in Hot Springs National Park for a mountain top experience and beautiful fall views. Spanning a little more than a mile, the West Mountain Trail intersects the Mountain Top Trail above Prospect Ave. The trail also crosses West Mountain Dr. onto a stone footbridge before merging with the Canyon Trail. Start at Whittington Park on the Mountain Top Trail and connect into West Mountain Trail for a nice loop trail experience. Don't miss the nearby Arkansas Alligator Farm and Petting Zoo (AlligatorFarmZoo. com), a one-of-a-kind attraction that has been in Hot Springs for more than 100 years. ot Springs Village Woodworkers encourages anyone interested in woodworking, at any level, to join them and learn new skills and techniques. With roughly 60 active members, the Woodworkers are about more than learning to work with wood. The members put their skills to work to benefit local children through many non-profit and charitable organizations. Woodworkers make Christmas toys and gifts for area children. In past years, Woodworkers have donated over 400 toys and gifts to local groups. They also teach children in after school programs, provide end-of-the-school year award bookcases, hold an annual blind camp workshop, and participate in a summer school program. The Club offers a great opportunity for anyone interested in learning more about the craft of woodworking, looking for the camaraderie of fellow-woodworkers, and doing good things in the community!
