What is Sublimation Sublimation is the transition of a substance directly from solid to gas without being liquid, or in a broader sense, a process of mental or artistic refinement and purification. This project explores the transitions that happen in music experiences, and tries to objectify the change of state by the tool of design.
Trinity of Sublimation There are two aspects of sublimation in the music experience, physical and emotional. Physically the speaker transfers electrical impulses into audible sound. Meanwhile, emotionally we are transferred from realistic world to an idealized and sublimated musical mentality. This A9 speaker draws its inspiration from the binary transitional relationship and gives the experience a third dimension of sublimation---from transparency to opaqueness. The use of gradient transparent polycarbonate legs created a sense of floating, or “subliming.
Spatial Relationship Our perception of furniture is greatly shaped by its surrounding environment. The transparency in the design of A9 ver. Sublimation breaks the consistent solidity in the surrounded environment and adds a sense of airiness and curiosity.
