A Night at the Movies

Relay For Life of DeSoto County, Mississippi April 2011

YOUTH Mini-Relay Saturday May 7, 2011 4-6 PM Hernando Sports and Fitness Park (at the old Hernando High School football field)

Please bring your family and join us for an afternoon of fun and games. We are hosting a Mini-Relay for KIDS this year. There will be many different games and awareness activities promoting good health that will in turn help to reduce cancer incidence in the future. We will also be having a survivor celebration, a remembrance ceremony, and a fight back ceremony. We need YOU to come out to this unique event and support our local Relay For Life while having a fun day with your children, grandchildren, school groups, or church youth groups. We are looking for volunteers to help run activities, sponsors to provide activities and entertainment, teams who would like to do onsite fundraising (while catering to the needs and interests of children), and most importantly children who are survivors or children who have or had a parent with cancer. Come and help us make a difference in the lives of people with cancer! Fundraising incentives for this event start at just $40. If you are interested in learning more about this event, need a fundraising packet, or wish to sign up a team for onsite fundraising or volunteering, please email Stephanie McGreger.

The purple potty is the fundraiser of East Win Christian Church for Relay For Life. The purple potties will be making their way around the area, visiting many homes in the DeSoto County area. The original purple potty was so popular that the team had to add 3 more!

If a potty lands in your yard, you may pay $10.00 for removal or $20.00 to send it to a friend. For $30.00 you may send it and receive "potty protection" and it will never come back to your yard.

Luminaria After dark, we honor people who have been touched by cancer and remember loved ones lost to the disease during the Luminaria Ceremony. Candles are lit inside bags filled with sand, each one bearing the name of a person touched by cancer, and participants often walk a lap in silence. As people take time to remember, those who have walked alongside others battling cancer can grieve and find healing. This is a time that truly highlights the importance of defeating this disease.

Luminaria bags - $10 suggested donation

Torch of Hope Small - $50 suggested donation Large - $75 suggested donation

If you dedicate more than one Torch of Hope, we will take $5 off each additional torch that you dedicate.

All Luminaria and Torch of Hope donations get credited to your team’s totals!
