Margie Lewis was born and raised in Fleur de Lys, Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, on September 9, 1969. Margie works primarily in acrylics and is interested in capturing the essence of a place, object, or person. Whether it is a landscape, still life or portrait, her art has been influenced by growing up in a small outport community, surrounded by ocean, dependent on the fishery and rich in history, culture and family tradition. Through her work she feels she can tell stories of ‘her’ Newfoundland and Labrador, evoking the past and depicting a way of life that is slowly disappearing. Margie draws on childhood memories and, through her art she feels in a small way she is preserving her heritage!

Margie is primarily a self-taught artist however she studied portraiture under Realistic Acrylic Portrait School artist and instructor Matt Philleo and takes online art classes at Acrylic University under artist and instructor Jed Dorsey.
