The dog days of summer are here, oh boy do I know that! Temper temper everyone, I know it’s hard to keep your cool during these hot sticky days but do you best and keep that temper under control. I say that because I’ve seen a few fights and arguments lately, I know it was just a couple of guys hot and sweaty and tired of the heat but don’t let your un-cool get into hot water. Just walk away if you can, if you can’t then run like hell it’s not worth it. I want to thank my advertisers for being with me, as always I will do my best to support and promote you in everything we do here at the papers. And I wish to thank all my new clients coming aboard and promise that I will do my best for you. We are making some more changes in and on our newspapers as you can see, we have another new art director and graphic designer, we welcome aboard Mike Barthel and know he will be a great asset to our Blue Sky family. We will give you a bio on Mike next month. Pool and dart tournament directors please take note that I’m waiting for your results, I know your players would love to be in the papers, just email me some facts of your tournaments and we’ll do the rest. Send us some pictures of some interesting stuff; promote your tournaments by letting everyone out here know how fun and interesting your tournaments are. There’s more to being a good tournament director then just moving names around the board, work for your players, and promote them and the house you are working for. I’m thinking of putting together another billiards tour, anyone interested, playing or being a part of building one, I was thinking of what it would be like to perhaps start a dart tour also, if you have some input give me a call. Maybe just 24 to 32 players either pool or dart players, with sponsors and contracts could be some nice cash in it for the right players. As I’ve said before I will not play politics with the players or sponsors if you’re interested in moving our sport forward locally please call me. Well just another month or month and a half and our summer will leave us, when you start shivering in January of 2012 remember how we complained today, I know I will. Remember to play fair and treat your neighbors the way you want to be treated. Think before you open your mouth about who you may be hurting and how it would feel if it were you on the other side. God Bless us all

Back in 2008, Cadillac introduced their all new version of CTS, which is carried over for 2009. We had two, a black one with sport suspension and a later one with standard suspension and cherry metallic paint.
The sport suspension in our black car handled great, but provided a stiff ride, which I think is out of place in a luxury machine. The base suspension version had a comfortable ride, but seemed to corner about as well as the sport car, so this was my favorite. The interior The base engine is a 263 horsepower on both looked very nice. V-6, which is what we had. It has enough power, but a 304 horse version is offered for those who want more. KHRONIK CABARET
Billiards Table Talk and Dart Starr roving reporter Carl Kowalczuk is reporting tonight from Khronik Cabaret located at 2438 E. McDowell Rd. in Phoenix. Although Khronik all nude cabaret celebrated its 1 year anniversary in July, after speaking to Khronik’s owner Trip Badorian, I got the sense that he has been in the business a lot longer than 1 year! So I asked him, Trip says, “I’ve been a part of some of the biggest adult entertainment clubs in the country”, and when I asked him
how he characterized Khronik his response was “a neighborhood all nude cabaret”. Khronik’s dancers are friendly and energetic making the atmosphere pleasant and electric. The sound system is state of the art and the music being played is of a mixed variety, rock, rhythm and blues, country, soul and hip hop. I asked Mary Jane one of the many talented dancers if she had a signature song? She playfully answered ,“I do but your readers will just have to come in to find out what it is”. This is Carl saying keep your eye on the ball and always shoot straight!

LOOK FOR THE PURPLE NEON
Failing to fly is an intoxicating alternative rock band. This phenomenal band has been rocking together for a short time span of three months. Each of the members hail from different parts of the United States and with the members hailing from different parts they bring with them unique sounds and experience with a wide range of genres. There are five members that make up this band. Patrick (aka Kentucky) is the lead vocalist. Since he was a small child he has loved to sing and perform. When he met his fellow band members, he knew it was a “dream come true”. You can catch Joshua on lead guitar. His self taught guitar player has been ripping up the cords for 10 years. With his wife and son as his biggest fans, he is a force to be reckoned with. But do not take my word for it; you have got to see for yourself.
Keeping the beat in this band is Jeremy. Although he has played other instruments over the last six years, his “full time love” are his drums. There is no mistaking Jeremy when you hear him rocking with the band. His drums solos are hard, heavy and rite on point. CJ is another awesome guitar player. He recently joined the band two months ago. The way this band harmonizes together, one would tend to think the opposite. His son gives him his encouragement to give it all he has. Great sound, great delivery. When you eat, sleep and live for music, your name must be Otto. Playing bass is what he lives and loves to do. The newest member of this band packs his own twist on the different style and genres they bring to the table. With his funky beats in bluegrass to the heavy picking sounds of death metal, your body will know when he is playing. Want to know more or meet the band? You can catch Failing to Fly at your favorite local bar or at their CD release party. Future dates include, October 22, 2011 at O’briens Sports Bar, the big Halloween bash on October 29th, 2011 at the Goathead saloon or on October 30th, 2011 at the Big Fish Pub. For more information go to failingtofly.com.

SECTAS ROCKED THE BIG FISH PUB...
...at their CD release party (Hopes Of A New Time), Saturday, July 30th, what a KILLER show! The opening acts were Izzy Edible and Losing God, both of whom were exceptional bands, and warmed us up for the headliner. When Sectas took over the stage the crowd was even more enthusiastic, closing in on the band, headbanging, screaming, and singing along like crazy folks, and it wasn’t long before a moshpit broke out…a friendly moshpit, of course. Sectas fans are a tight group of people from what I’ve seen. The show was so engaging the smoking section was virtually empty, and all ears were on Sectas. I thought they were brilliant with a slight Flotsam and Jetsam flavor, minus the thrash.
I asked a few random people what they thought of Sectas and this is what they said: “Diverse, heavy and lyrically thought provoking, and technically on top.” - Todd Murdock, Trinity Records and Promotions “Dave Mustaine’s long lost children.” - Brian Dill, X=Pain “If you want originality, Sectas is it!” - Shelby Biggs “Sectas is the absolute best AZ band.” - Kristy Bratty Smith “A powerhouse trio that emulates light through music.” - Michael Synnestvedt “3 kool doods that were born to play metal.” - Renee Alva Graves SECTAS IS: Christian Lee - Guitar/vocals Runaway - Bass Brian - drums/back vocals “Like” them on Facebook or hear them and get show dates at: www.sectasmusic.com

OUCH!! YOU'RE TOO OLD TO PLAY GIGS WHEN.....
1. It becomes more important to find a place on stage for your fan than for your amp. 2. All your fans leave by 9:30 p.m. 3. You love taking the elevator because you can sing along with most of your play list.
4. Instead of a fifth member, your band wants to spring for a roadie. 5. You don't know (or care) who any of the new bands are. 6. Your drugs are keeping you alive rather than killing you.
OPEN MIC NIGHT AT THUNDERBIRD ROADHOUSE
MUSIC! Whether you like to play it or watch other people play it, you should check out Wednesday nights at Thunderbird Roadhouse, 8:30pm-11:30pm. Hump day has been one of my favorite nights of the week for these past few months since I started attending this open mic, hosted by Nick Keena, (otherwise known as Bouzouki Nick) of The Porch Dawgs, and Randy Skulavik (AKA Rayker) of the Hillbilly Barbeque Band. They are awesome hosts, and accompanied by Terry Osborn and Danny Rae "DOC" Williams, also of The Porch Dawgs, they start the night out with some rockin’ tunes that’ll get your blood goin’, and have plenty of regulars who participate, entertaining us with their diverse talents.
And if you feel like playing, they’ll make you feel right at home, like part of the family! I’ve heard some of everything there, so it never gets boring, and they have beer I’ve never seen before, and great food and drinks. I’ve made new friends and hung out with old friends out on the smoking/drinking patio after the open mic shuts down, and sometimes the jamming continues outside, because no one wants to go home yet. Come have a drink with me next Wednesday, it’ll make the week go by faster…see ya there!

Coop’s Bar & Grill - Formerly “The Curve” Well, I would have called it “Coops Curves” but I don’t own it. And I was thinking of the good-looking new owner Coop, she has the
right curves. Well enough about of that…you will have come see for yourselves.
On August 8th 2011, Diane took over The Curve Bar & Grill on the curve at 8455 W. Peoria Ave and renamed it Coop’s Bar & Grill,
but she didn’t come alone, she got the cool Coops gang to back her up, and what a fun gang it is. You will feel the difference the minute you walk through the doors, with a friendly hello, hug or smile you will know you’re home! With all the trappings of the usual sports bar, you have a great kitchen with awesome food and some great prices. Football is starting and Coop’s is ready, with big screen TV’s and specials on drinks and food during and after the games. I sat in on their first staff meeting and was super impressed on their demands for service, friendliness, cleanliness and making this a home away from home for everyone that walks through the doors. You should be able to see from the picture above this is going to be an adventure for someone, I’m betting on us; these people really click, so fun is the main thing on the menu. Stop in and say hi to Coop & the coop’s cool gang…we wish you all the best

Hidden Treasures ...In Your Home! Have you ever wished you had an extra 10, 20 or maybe 100 bucks, most of us have! Well look around your house or apartment in your bathroom or your closet, do you have a jewelry box? Most of us buy or receive gifts that we wear for awhile, then just simply set aside and forget about, this could be your hidden treasure that will help pay the rent or car payment or just let you go out tonight and have some fun. Jim at Lucky Gold on 35th Ave. and Northern Ave. tells me that people are always surprised to find out what kind of treasures they are storing and what they are worth. Lucky Gold buys gold, silver and other precious metals, I’ve known Jim for awhile and watched him help people and advise them on how they should be aware
when dealing with just anyone, he laughed when he told me, “I don’t sell phones, smokes, or trinkets and other odds and ends, I buy gold, silver and other metals. That’s my business and I give everyone a fair shake, if people don’t know what their items are worth, tell them to stop by and I’ll appraise it for them.” The next time you need some cash, go treasure hunting around your house and then go see Jim at Lucky Gold, just maybe you’ll hit the jackpot.
