H a p p y T hank s gi v ing, this is the month to give thanks for all we have, and not stress over what we don’t have, sounds easy right? Once you truly appreciate what you have, not having more is not as important as it was before. Please help support our communities by dropping donations into the food boxes you see in our bars and rooms. As times are getting tougher and tougher reach out to your neighbors and friends and offer your help where you can, always remember the reason for the season. To all the good people that go out of their way to promote and support the efforts of helping I thank you from all those that would if they could… Thank You for your kindness, thoughts and prayers, your goodness does not go unnoticed. Please support your local bars, rooms, leagues and tournaments, in these tough times for businesses; our community needs you to have your parties and other events in their establishments, book your holiday parties early. Check out your local newspapers for events going on locally, join a league in your favorite bar or room, play a pool or dart tournament and test your skill. Take your family out for lunch or dinner at one of your

favorite bar n grills; take the time to thank your neighborhood bars for all they do. I want to wish a speedy recovery to my good friends Tommy and Dave (Boss) and hope to see them both back on their feet soon. I’ve had some comments on my front covers over the last 6 months or so, mostly positive and a few negative, my job is to bring my readers entertainment and get my advertisers ads into the hands of my readers, pretty ladies always seem to work. Most of the models used are local ladies interested in a modeling career and need to get their look out there. If you see a model you like and you are interested in hiring her for your ad or for other modeling work you can reach them through me. After the 1st of the New Year I will probably start to give more information about the models such as their ages, likes, dislikes, hobbies and other interests they have. If you have comments on this please drop me an email. If you are or know of an aspiring model and wish to submit her name, phone number or email address feel free to drop me a line and tell me a little about yourself or her.

HOLIDAY TREASURES - GOLD N SILVER

With the holiday season upon us, money becomes an issue! If you are thinking of selling your gold, silver or other precious metals

buying it back? What about pawn shops? Cars, saws, hammers, guns and every other thing you can carry in you’ll get something, fair, oh well, you’ll get something!

Lucky Gold N Silver Exchange on 35th Ave and Northern proven time and time again that they want your business and will go the extra yard to get it, always honest and fair, telling you the value of your precious metal and giving you a fair estimate. Jim even said he would pay for your gas if you come in and he buys your precious metal.

to a large retail jewelry chain store, think again, do you really think they are going to pay you top dollar for your goods? Aren’t they the ones that sold it to you at some outrageous mark up, now you think they will be generous

It’s time to look around your home or apartment and find that scrap, broken or jewelry you don’t wear anymore… you may have your Christmas money right in front of you? drawers and other secret places you hide your old watches, rings, broken necklaces and other bits and pieces of gold and silver, $25 $75 or more could be right under your nose, your Christmas shopping problem just might be solved. If nothing else take it to Lucky Gold and see what its worth. I always laugh when Jim says to me “I don’t sell phones, bongs,

cigarettes or give haircuts, I just buy your gold, silver, diamonds and other precious metals, if people want to know what their jewelry is worth just come in and see me and I’ll tell them. They don’t have to sell it to me.” Happy Holidays to all from our team at Lucky Gold & Silver Exchange (35Ave N Northern Ave).

Political Correctness The following is the supposedly 2007 winning entry from an annual contest at Texas A&M University calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term. This year’s term was Political Correctness. The winner wrote: “Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end.”

LIKE US ON FACEBOOK: Billiards Table Talk & The Dart Starr Newspapers HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU LEARNED TO PLAY AND WHO INSPIRED YOU?

I started when I was about 11, idolizing all of the thrash gods and trying to be as fast and as notey as possible. Soon after, I realized that just wasn’t my gig, and I started listening to more and more soul based music and I fell in love with the blues. The biggest impact any player has had on me and Whiskey Six’s music would have to be R.L. Burnside. Such an incredibly deep blues musician with that punk rock attitude that separated him out from the rest. Rory Gallagher soon followed, with the always constant Jimmy Page in the background. IF YOU COULD JAM WITH ANYONE ALIVE OR DEAD WHO WOULD IT BE?

Chriskey Six - Vocals/Guitar Dave Lansing - Lead Guitar Raf Garcia - Bass Matt Indes – Drums An interview with Chriskey Six of Whiskey Six: BRIEFLY DESCRIBE YOUR BAND & MUSIC: It’s like if Metallica, ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Guns n’ Roses all had an orgy, and 9 months later there was an illegitimate child. And sometime after an old blues man picked him up and raised him. Whiskey Six is that child! Birthed from the old legends of rock, and forged in blues, Whiskey Six delivers an old school flavor with a new school attitude.

As much as I love Burnside, I’d probably get a kick out of playing with Rory Gallagher the most. He had such a way with playing, especially in his acoustic work. He could command his heart in each note, and just to sit and take part of that would be nothing short of a religious experience. WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME? The Rain Song by Led Zeppelin. Led Zeppelin, yes I know, everyone goes there. But with this song, there is such a large degree of subtlety and grace that is very hard to capture. From the violins accompanying the already beautiful guitar line, to the simplistic deliverance of Robert Plant’s vocals; there is not a single part of this song that doesn’t pull on the heart strings. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL BAND? Trying to get me in trouble?! Right now I’ve really been digging on Vex, but I’m always surprised at the amount of local talent the valley provides. There is such a large talent pool here it’s hard to focus it all in one band. I would definitely have to recommend What Laura Says to anybody though.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE VENUE TO PLAY AT IN AZ?

The Blooze Bar. There’s always great vibe and a great atmosphere. Regardless of what’s happening we can always guarantee we’re going to have fun there. WHAT’S YOUR POISON/DRINK OF CHOICE? WHISKEY. Lots. Or you can throw a little bit of the Kraken in there. We’ve downed a good 3 bottles of stuff lately. Although a LOT of puke has been involved. WHAT DO YOU CONSIDER TO BE THE BEST SONG YOU PERFORM? Love, Sex, and American Excess. Not that I don’t like playing the other ones, but there’s something about the groove of that one. It’s physically fun to play and sing, and when we’re all in the moment, something just clicks for us as players. WHY DO YOU THINK THE CHICKEN REALLY CROSSED THE ROAD? Whiskey Six was throwing another all night bar buster party!!! Complete with live jamming, booze, and more women than you could shake a stick at (god bless those Whiskey Chix). Who WOULDN’T wanna come over?! WHERE ARE YOUR GIGS FOR THE NEXT MONTH? 910 Live on 11th, November 18th at Chaser’s, and for you folks on the West Side: Donna Jean’s Libations on the 19th! DO YOU READ TABLE TALK AND DART STARR NEWSPAPERS? I see it all the time at the pool hall I frequent! (Hey guys!)…

An Interview with Nick Keena of the Porch Dawgs: BRIEFLY DESCRIBE YOUR BAND & MUSIC: We're a band. We play music. Brief enough for ya? But seriously folks, we're an acoustic jam band. HOW OLD WERE YOU WHEN YOU LEARNED TO PLAY AND WHO INSPIRED YOU? I was about 13 when I started playing. My father and all his brothers are musicians. Growing up going to his gigs is where I cut my teeth on music. Dad has a huge impact on who I am as a musician and as a man. Music always affected me, (Led Zeppelin, Muddy Waters, Cream, Zappa, Phish, Moe, Keller Williams, Papa Mali, Miles Davis, Beatles blah blah blah) but playing with him was when I truly understood the point of it. IF YOU COULD JAM WITH ANYONE ALIVE OR DEAD WHO WOULD IT BE?

NEUROTIC PLEASURES: Joe Sawinski/Guitar & vocals Shelby Folmar/Guitar Justin Parker/Bass Josh Brooks/Drums

It’s been another busy month for dethkitn, full of great music and fun times, including my two weekly open mics, -It is last show at Joes Grotto, Judas Priest and Dirtnap at the fair, a few shows at The Blooze, and most recently I checked out a local band called NEUROTIC PLEASURES. Four guys with a ton of attitude and energy, and all the anger of the old Rage Against The Machine. I was tired, windblown and a little headachy when I arrived but two songs in their contagious energy gave me my second wind. I especially enjoyed “Pills” and “Open Eyes”, but the Candlebox cover, “YOU” was a pleasant surprise. One song reminded me of Green day...lol…I’d totally go see them again. Find them on facebook and decide for yourself.

That’s a great question. WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE SONG OF ALL TIME? The next one I write. WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE LOCAL BAND? The Porch Dawgs of course! ...and the Hillbilly BBQ Band. WHAT’S YOUR POISON/DRINK OF CHOICE? Bourbon. WHY DO YOU THINK THE CHICKEN REALLY CROSSED THE ROAD? Did you see whats over there? It’s great over there!!! WHERE ARE YOUR GIGS FOR THE NEXT MONTH? You can catch up with me and Randy Rayker every Wednesday at Thunderbird Roadhouse! Open mic jam I also stopped in at Connolly’s (51st Ave and Northern) on Tuesday night for some $1 tacos and live from 8ish to 11ish! (ask me later where we is I don't know music by Crazy Cover Keith. If you’ve never heard him perform you’re missing out! No matter what all of 'em yet) kind of music you listen to, you will be entertained by his original songs and a million cover tunes by DO YOU READ TABLE TALK AND DART STARR over 300 artists and plenty you’ve probably never heard before, so stop in and get educated! NEWSPAPERS? My mom does DO YOU PLAY PRIVATE PARTIES AND ARE YOU November 8th and 22nd at 7:30pm. 5160 West Northern Ave. AVAILABLE FOR BOOKING? Yes and yes *Amber says, “Keith is awesome! CONTRACTS FOR POLITICIANS By Robert Lyman I agree with a Grover Norquist style contract to uphold all promises made to their constituents during the election process, also could show their official voting record to prove they had upheld their campaign pledges, however, the root of the problem is the corrupting power of money in politics. All congressmen, and senators and even our supreme court have been bought by very wealthy campaign donors and gifts, all which favor legislation to the contributors, how many lobbyists do the poor and the unemployed have fighting and giving gifts to you in Washington? Ever wondered why it will take 1 billion dollars to become President this year, do you think those who contributed the dollars would want something in exchange?

If we can get a ruling to on repeal Citizens United in the bought off Supreme Court, that would bring the elections back to a level playing field not influenced by lobbyist for special interest from large corporations Pharma, oil gas co’s etc. Look at the GETMONEYOUT.COM site or MOVETOAMEND.ORG for details on how we can get the assholes to do the work of the people, not the highest bidder. Keep up the good work, keep the billiard guys thinking.

SPOOKY BLUES MINI–FEST

AWESOME SUCCESS!

The 1st semi-annual Blues MiniFest at Thunderbird Roadhouse hit the top of the charts on Saturday, October 29th, 2011…and the winner was…THE WOUNDED WARRIORS PROJECT!

With a packed house and a full outside parking lot, the blues hit Thunderbird Roadhouse like a fire storm, all for the benefit of our heroes, the brave men and women of our military. Food drinks and the Blues as only Leon J, Blues Review, Juke Joint, Hans Olson, Scotty Spenner, Americana Crossroads, Dirt Road Music Express and Sal Carlino & the Strayhounds could deliver and deliver they did. Live bands were never so live and exciting, dedicating heart and soul to our “Wounded Warriors”, passion and fun mingled like fire and wind as the crowds were swept up in moment after moment of entertainment.

Halloween costume contest and a National Blues Hall of Fame induction ceremony. We wish to thank everyone who attended and worked so hard to make this 1st event a great success. Watch this newspaper for the upcoming AZ Bike Week Blues Mini-Fest coming in April 2011.

God Bless America and our brave men and women that have and From 2 PM til after 10 PM the now serve in our great military… party only grew and grew with a Thank you.
