Daniel and Jordan Wirt of Chicago happily announce the birth of their son, Jack Marlin. He and his 2-year-old sister, Stephanie Golde, are the grandchildren of Dena Jaffe Wirt and the late Stephen Wirt of Bay City, Mich., and of Judith and Michael Newmark of St. Louis, Mo. Their great-grandparents are the late Jack and Alice Wirt, the late Ruben and Judy Jaffe, the late Harold and Janice Newmark, and the late Dr. Marlin and Goldie Jackoway.

He will be joined in celebration by his brother Jared and proud grandparents Annie Weiss, Ellyn Fox and Harvey Forman, and Michelle Fox. Sean is also the loving grandchild of the late Gary Weiss.

Sean is a student at Lakers Online Middle School. For his most meaningful mitzvah project, he donated tzedakah to Be The Match in honor of his late grandfather, Gary Weiss.

Noah is a student at Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills. His most meaningful mitzvah project has been working with animals.

Cameron Jacob

Harris, surrounded by family and friends, will chant from the Torah as he becomes a bar mitzvah on Friday, May 7, 2021, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. He will be joined in celebration by his proud parents, Brenda and Alan Harris, and siblings Lorna, Charlotte and Owen. Cameron is the loving grandchild of Michelle and Dr. Joel Harris, and Patricia Colombo.

He is a student at Bloomfield Hills Middle School. For his most meaningful mitzvah project, Cameron took part in the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit’s Service with Purpose program, having weekly phone conversations with a senior buddy at a Jewish Senior Life residence.

Michaela Erin

Kolchinsky, daughter of Sharon and Todd Kolchinsky, will chant from the Torah as she becomes a bat mitzvah at Temple Beth El in Bloomfield Hills Township on May 8, 2021. She will be joined in celebration by her siblings Sarah and Tyler Kolchinsky. Michaela was named after her late grandfather Michael Krosky. She is also the granddaughter of Beverly Krosky and Bernie Genzer, and Allen and Marcy Kolchinsky.

Michaela is a student at Warner Middle School in Farmington Hills. For her mitzvah project, she volunteered with Pet Adoption Alternative of Warren, helping to take care of the rescue cats available for adoption in Petco Farmington Hills. This project is so meaningful to Michaela that she plans to continue her volunteer work indefinitely.

Brooke Emily

Lazar will lead the congregation in prayer as she becomes a bat mitzvah at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield on Saturday, May 8, 2021. She will be joined in celebration by her proud parents, Margo and Michael Lazar, and sister Shaina. Brooke is the loving grandchild of Janet and Abe Berman, and Audrey and the late Sheldon Lazar.

She is a student at West Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills. As part of her most meaningful mitzvah project, Brooke volunteered at the Oakland County Animal Shelter.

Dane Evan Zeff, son of Karyn and Barrett Zeff, will chant from the Torah as he becomes a bar mitzvah on Saturday, May 8, 2021, at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield. Joining in celebration will be his brother Luke, proud grandparents Jackie and Larry Zeff, Linda and Dan Tuomi, Jackie and Jerry Squillets, and great-grandmother Glenna Squillets.

Dane is a student at Hillel Day School of Metropolitan Detroit in Farmington Hills. As part of his most meaningful mitzvah project, he volunteers at the Devoted Barn animal rescue. Dane also sponsored one of their rescued animals, which contributes to the cost of food, shelter and veterinary care.

Mazel Tov! announcements are welcomed for members of the Jewish community. Anniversaries, engagements and weddings with a photo (preferably color) can appear at a cost of $18 each. Births are $10. There is no charge for bar/bat mitzvahs or for special birthdays starting at the 90th.

Yaari-Lebovic

Diane and Joey Lebovic of Farmington Hills and Nira and David Yaari of West Bloomfield are thrilled to announce the upcoming marriage of their children Sara Lebovic and Tom Yaari.

Sara received her bachelor’s degree in nursing and her master’s degree in nurse midwifery from the University of Michigan. She has been a practicing certified nurse\midwife in private practice for five years.

Tom received his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Michigan and his master’s degree in history from Wayne State University. He is working on his Ph.D. in history from Wayne State. Tom works at Hillel Day School, teaching history and Judaic studies.

Sara and Tom reside in Berkley and will be married in West Bloomfield in June.

Linda and Barry Rosenbaum of West Bloomfield and Timmie and Bernie Block of Buffalo Grove, Ill., are pleased to announce the engagement of their children Brian Howard and Jessie Rae.

Jessie is a graduate of University of Illinois and earned her master’s degree in educational administration from National Lewis University. She is employed as an assistant director at School District 65 in Evanston, Ill.

Brian is a graduate of the University of Michigan and earned his bachelor’s degree in English. He is employed as an enterprise partner manager at Grubhub.

Jessie and Brian reside in downtown Chicago and are anxiously awaiting their May 2021 wedding at First Hebrew Congregation in South Haven, Mich.
