CONTOURS

Featuring Sylvester Potts The Contours have proudly worn the label “Motown’s #1 party group” for more than 50 years. Today The Contours feat. Sylvester Potts are center stage once again. Much of the resurgence in the group”s popularity has to do with the Academy Award winning film, “Dirty Dancing”. Their hit “Do You Love Me” was featured in the film and became so popular that it gave birth to an international tour entitled “The Dirty Dancing Tour” starring The Contours, Bill Medley, Merry Clayton and Eric Carmen. That tour lasted 10 months, played to over 2 million people in 8 countries and sold over 10 million copies of “More Dirty Dancing” before it ceased production. During this time, Motown Records was quick to capitalize on The Contours popularity by reissuing their original version of “Do You Love Me” in single and album form. That move paid great dividends for everyone as “Do You Love Me” climbed to #11 on the national charts, making it one of the few recordings in history to hit the top 20 in two different decades.

ALEXANDER ZONJIC Alexander Zonjic started his musical journey at age 9 in his hometown of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, when he was introduced to his musical love, the guitar. By age 15, his professional journey began as the lead guitar player in a rhythm and blues band. It was at age 21 when Zonjic was ready to discover the beauty, power and intelligence of music. That same year, destiny, a deity or simple serendipity intervened in the form of a stranger on a street corner. Back in Windsor for a well-deserved breather, Zonjic was approached by a shady character that recognized him as a musician from his numerous local appearances. Would this would-be rock star be interested in buying a flute? The asking price for the doubtlessly hot instrument was $50. “I liked how it looked in the case,” recalls Zonjic, who on a whim offered nine dollars. The deal was done, Zonjic discovered the sound of his destiny and history was made. The Motor City Horns are among Detroit’s most versatile musicians. Individually, MCH members have worked with a variety of artists, bands, and orchestras including: Justin Timberlake, The Temptations, The Four Tops, The Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble. As a group, they have joined forces with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band (2006 – 2007 Face The Promise Tour), as well as Clarence Clemons and the Temple of Soul. Locally they have appeared with The Brothers Groove, Johnnie Bassett and the Blues Insurgents, Thornetta Davis, Root Doctor and Alexander Zonjic. With Zonjic, they have shared the stage and crafted horn arrangements for many well-known jazz artists, including Bob James and Jeff Lorber. Recent CD releases include The Verve Pipe, Ben Cyllus, The TaleGators, Root Doctor, Midtown Underground, Carl Craig and Tribe, bluesman Johnnie Bassett and singer/songwriter Liz Larin. The Motor City Horns are a full service production team, able to assist in any aspect of a live performance or recording project (producing, recording, writing/arranging, etc…) Band Interests

Edgar Wallace Jr. Dynamic and smooth describe the memorable melodies that emit from the saxophone of Edgar Wallace Jr. A mixture of modern jazz, and “I need to get up and groove” rhythms provide the foundation for Edgar’s current project. The musical journey begins with a hot “Single Release” of a cover tune by Darryl Hall & John Oates entitled “I Can’t Go For That” along with a smoking music video. Modern synth sounds, lush background vocals, and pop beats intertwine with the vocal like quality of Edgar’s Alto sax on this track. Saxophonist Edgar Wallace Jr. is from the Metropolitan Detroit, Michigan area. He’s also a writer, producer, commercial print model, actor and video director. Edgar has performed as a lead instrumentalist for various corporate and public events throughout the country; among those events were concert openings for Earth Wind & Fire, Najee, Roy Ayers, David Benoit, Jean Lucponty, Russ Freeman and The Rippingtons to name a few. “ My goal is to convey a musical story to the listener that moves their heart through a range of emotions from song to song.” Edgar’s previous nationally distributed c.d. entitled “On The Beach” was self- produced and written. It is available on iTunes as well other digital outlets.

James Lloyd James Lloyd began taking piano lessons at age 6. Being classically trained, he was first introduced to jazz at age 12. Other interests include cooking and martial arts. He holds a 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do, a green sash in Lama Kung Fu, and has also trained in Wing Chun Kung Fu. James is a true workaholic. When he’s not on the road playing music, he’s in his home studio writing music. Artists James has written, co-written and produced for include: the late, Wayman Tisdale, Walter Beasley, Najee, Alexander Zonjic, Nestor Torres, Jeff Kashiwa, Nick Colionne, Eric Darius, Hiroshima, Gail Jhonson, Gordon James, oh, and Pieces Of A Dream. You may also find James on CD’s from Phyllis Hyman, Regina Belle, Loose Ends, Eddie Murphy, Ornette Coleman, and the late, great, Grover Washington Jr.

Big Ray and The Motor City Kings are a Detroit Area musical group performing blues, classic rock, soul and Motown. The act offers an energetic and danceable repertoire supported by guitar, keyboard and saxophone soloists. Big Ray and The Motor City Kings perform at a variety of venues ranging from small blues clubs to large festival stages.

HOPE FOR THE HOLLOW Hope for the Hollow is a four-piece modern hard rock band that fuses together soaring vocals and intricate guitar riffs to form a style of music that has never been heard before. With just enough metal to soothe the “metal heads” palate and balance a healthy mix of breakdowns and powerful lyrics - Hope for the Hollow has a little bit of something for everyone. Based out of the Cleveland and Akron areas, HftH delivers a heart pumping, non-stop energy rock show that will leave you wanting more. Although HftH is a new group to the music business, they are no strangers to the rock stage. Current members have shared the stage with such acts as A Static Lullaby, LA Guns, Bret Michaels, Flaw, Emmure, Attack Attack!, Miss May I, Faster Pussycat, Affiance and many more. They are looking to record a full length album at Black Dog Recording Studios in Atlanta, with key engineer Ken “Grand” Lanyon (Shinedown, NeedtoBreathe, Crossfade, Framing Hanley, Vince Neil Band) to be released sometime early 2013.

TY STONE He was born in the shadow of Midwestern steel mills in the Detroit heart of urban America and raised on a steady diet of rock’n’soul. He cut his teeth in bar bands and minimum-wage day jobs, headed West looking for a big break, and then found it back home – though he never lost the earthy core that informs every word he sings and every note he plays. As he puts it, “You don’t have to be a 16-year-old with a Mohawk to get Ty Stone music. You just have to be the guy who goes to work every day.” Kid Rock, who signed Stone to his Top Dog Records label in 2005, got it almost immediately – when a friend of Stone’s handed the superstar a demo CD during a Detroit Pistons game. “He’s a great songwriter and has the most incredible voice,” says Rock, who executive produced “4 ON THE FLOOR,” a debut EP that will surely whet appetites for Stone’s full-length debut. “His soul and his Rhythm & Blues instincts are just spot-on. It’s exciting stuff to hear.”

The Infatuations are “Detroit.” The Motor City starts coming out of your speakers the second the first note hits. This band celebrates every sonic movement that is undeniably “Detroit” with every song they create and perform; from Motown soul to the inescapable good-time bravado of Parliament Funkadelic, to the raw, untamed rock energy of MC5 and Detroit Rock City’s last three decades of powerful rock n roll. The Infatuations compel you to dance to the groove.

MEGA 80’S Take a handful of your favorite 80’s songs, a splash of some retro fashion, a pinch of panache and an eye-popping video spectacle in the background and what do you get? The Mega 80’s, of course! Since their emergence onto the Detroit music scene, the Mega 80’s have taken southeast Michigan by storm. Now veterans of the 80’s cultural milieu, they are still rocking as hard as ever. The proof is in the pudding! They’ve since been bestowed with awards such as: the Real Detroit’s “Best of...” Best Live Production/ Cover Band in 2002, and have won this category every year through 2013! Hour Detroit’s best local band, 2009. The Knot: Best of Weddings 2010 pick and one of WDIV’s “4 The Best” top 5 bands. This also includes playing at the Palace of Auburn Hills, House of Blues and being highlighted on Mitch Albom and Fox 2 News.
