“It’s like everything I’ve done has led up to this moment. The body of work, all the injuries, all the surgeries and all the tough times. It led up to this moment. I couldn’t have asked for a better ending to my last game in this arena and to my last season.” - D W YA N E W A D E

FINAL HOME GAME
Late in Season 16, all of Wade County gathered to watch Father Prime grace the HEAT hardwood for the final time. Tributes were delivered, tears were shed, and buckets were gotten as Wade poured in a game-high 30 points to end his home tenure with a W against the Sixers.

FINAL CAREER GAME Flash’s farewell tour made its final stop in Brooklyn. And in a particularly poetic sequence, it was Wade himself who delivered a triple-doubleclinching assist to the only teammate worthy of such an epic sign-off: Udonis Haslem. At game’s end, Wade had logged over 35,000 minutes in 1,054 career games—948 of which came as a member of the team that drafted him.

“I started thinking to myself, ‘What did it take to get these?!’ The answer that I came up with is: I’ve always been able to adapt and have a willingness to do whatever is needed for everyone’s success around me. It dawned on me that that’s my greatest strength and my greatest talent.”

“
A lot of people in this Arena have watched me grow, have watched me be imperfect and make a lot of mistakes in life. They watched me blossom and watched me do amazing things, great things. So, I’m thankful for it.”

BIGGER THAN BASKETBALL
FAMILY “My dream for my family is to be as together as we can be. I want us to support each other and appreciate each other’s abilities in life. I want us to always be able to come together, sit around a table and talk about our issues, feelings, wants or needs. I want us to love each other.”

“
This city means everything to me. It’s forever, forever, forever going to be my home. This is the end of the basketball part of me, but there’s so much I want to do in this city. So much more that we can accomplish together. I definitely look forward to that.”
