Intro 4FRNT Skis is a project that was created by a select handful of athletes that all shared a dire passion for skiing and innovation. The idea was to essentially circumvent our sponsors, so that we could send our ideas straight to the press without compromise. This was at a difficult time as freeskiing was merely a child in a very mature yet one dimensional industry. It was then supplied by European based ski manufacturers and skiers solely focused on getting to the bottom first. Our rider owned team was assembled by industry leaders and innovators like Matt Sterbenz, Steele Spence, Eric Hjorleifson and later Vincent Dorion, Niklas Karlstrom and CR Johnson. We were distant peers, but what we had in common was a vision of skiings future and the motivation for change. It didn’t take long before our ideas where put to paper and skis were born.
Wiley Miller p: Adam Clark
Eight years later and our collection of rider inspired and driven designs continue on the path of innovation with proven shapes and flawless quality. Everyone at 4FRNT demands only the highest level performance and quality in craftsmanship. We are proud to have established a list of long standing and reputable suppliers to compliment the heart and soul of our team. Unlike those that paved the way in ski production before our time, we’ve chosen a different line; the line that utilizes the absolute mountain and the playfulness of cross fall line with undiscovered terrain. So come along for our next lap and realize the mountain as we see it and who knows, you may even find your new favorite line.
Signature Series
The signature series is the pulse of our brand. Here is where you find the shapes straight from our pro team. The riders indulge in root geometries, flex indexing, materials then construction and all the way through to graphics. If you’ve ever wondered what a professional demands in a ski, this is the collection for you.

Materials
GLOSSTOP
4FRNT’s GLOSSTOP topsheet material is the ultimate top foil. Our crystal clear glossy finish makes the graphics pop off the ski with brilliant color, while the 45º edge bevel minimizes chipping. GLOSSTOP scratch resistant surface defends against scrape marks and helps to keep your skis looking crisp and clean throughout the winter.
BOMBTOP
This structured top sheet is the number one defense against chipping and scratching. It also has a 45º edge bevel to protect against nicks and topsheet damage. BOMBTOP is used on our park, pipe, and demo skis where the possibility of ski to ski contact is more likely.
X4 Dampening System
The X4 is a full perimeter layer of elastometric rubber foil that is laminated between the metal edge, fiberglass and wood core. The X4 system creates unmatched stability and a smooth ride, especially at high speeds.
Bi 90 Weave
A 90º layering of glass fibers creates a sensitive feel and responds well at slower speeds and jibs.
Bi 45 Weave
A 45º duel-layering of glass fibers creates a sensitive yet solid feel with lots of pop and liveliness. The Bi-45 weave enables riders to achieve the best pop on takeoff and confident landings.
Q 45 Weave
This is a high performance 45º tri-layering of glass fibers which makes skis longitudinally and torsionally stiff. The Q-45 Weave allows skis to respond well to variable snow conditions, high speeds and hard riding.
Hi-Lite Core
Poplar and Beech create a snappy yet lightweight composition to support wider skis in soft snow.
Indiblock Core
This indigenous Maple laminate delivers premium sensation from tip to tail with its even and stable flex. Isosport Sintered 2000 Megablock Core Sintered 2000 base, high Ash and Beech create our most performance, dense and fast. dense and damp core composition used for all mountain dominance. Isosport Extruded Extruded base, best for wax Hyperblock Core penetration and retention. Poplar and Birch is the heart of our all-around freestyle core with intent to shred laps or just cruise the mountain.
Liteblock Core
Poplar is the lone soldier composing this lightweight laminate. Primarily used in park and junior cores.
Foam Core
High density foam is injected into state of the art 3D molds to enhance featherlight performance for juniors and young adults.
Deflect Sidewalls ABS premium blend material, stiff and supportive to maximize edge grip. Tri bevel finish to support performance and protect against topsheet chipping.
To maximize performance in deep snow conditions we adjust the camber and tip/tail radius which relives pressure points and increases flotation and maneuverability in soft snow.
Start to finish quality control
Building skis for us is similar to parenthood. We are involved in every aspect of our skis material preparation, assembly, pressing and finishing to ensure that when a 4FRNT is born it’s heathy, well groomed and ready for the shred ahead. Everyone of our hand built skis are reviewed, tested and approved before they’re ready for adulthood.

Leading the Way True Ride
Fiberglass is the stabilizer you feel on edge when ripping across the fall line. Without it, your skis would twist and flatten out thus impacting your stability and grip on edge. Often cases, other producers also rely on fiberglass to work as a stiffness agent to their skis flex. Although these materials will impact a skis flex, it’s not a long lasting component. Over time, the flexing of their skis will break down the fiberglass thus allowing for them to soften up and “break in.” Our Q45 and Bi45 multi-layering system has each layer weave at a different direction to ensure that your skis feel the same on day 100 as they did on day 10.
Traditional Camber Camber w/Rocker
Rocker vs. Early Rise
Alternative cambers are all the rage. Leave it to 4FRNT to fuel the fire with subtle camber differences that immediately change the course of a skis comfort zone.
Rocker Zero Camber w/Rocker
Reverse Camber
Camber w/Early Rise
The usage of this design can be seen in many of our products in conjunction with either traditional camber or zero camber under foot. This application provides responsiveness to a variety of snow conditions a lot like a water skier outside the wake. This provokes maximum confidence on the groomed as well as the deep.
Early Rise
This benefit is achieved by eliminating the camber profile in the tip and tail thus allowing the contact points to rise up. The early rise benefit is for skiers looking to venture off the groomed where forgiveness in the shovel is desired yet full length running surface is required in and around the hard pack. Often confused with rocker, early rise is a subtle camber release rather than a radius.
Solid and Profile edges
When a skier comes into contact with abrupt objects off the groomed, its critical to ensure the edge has a really strong bond and is well supported. For this application, we have implemented our Profile Edge. Utilizing the teeth for maximum adhesion and general strength when core shots may appear near the edge. For skiers commonly in the park and ripping everything in their way, we use the Solid Edge. This edge is fully supported inside the ski to protect against edge pull out.
Full Wrap edges and Tail Protectors Most common is our 360 wrap edge. This technique is found in our Solid Edge profile. This provides perimeter support for the skis tip and tail when in daily use around the mountain and during transport.
Solid Edge
Full Wrap Tail Protector
The Tail Protector is an insertion of the skis construction acting as a bumper for when skis are used as walking sticks or a support tool when touring around the backcountry. This bumper also accommodates the skiers touring interest by utilizing a material that can be customized to support the clips of skins and other touring applications.
CR Johnson p: Lucas Jmieff
Behind the Signature Series MATT STERBENZ Like most skiers during the earlier phase of freeskiing, Matt grew anxious in ski design. Flat tails, slalom side-cuts and cap construction were the big companies initial thoughts on freeski design. Realizing the disconnect, the natural path for Matt was then to create his own shapes and abandon his sponsors’ resources for the chance at building his own brand. He’s maintained his focus on being a transplant skier from the Midwest to Tahoe where he designed the brands first all-mountain ski, the MSP. Few people possess the love for the sport of skiing like Matt does.
ERIC HJORLEIFSON When the notion of signature ski building was introduced, Eric was all-ears. At the time, he was just getting his feet wet with gaining exposure. He started filming and eventually starring in ski films but his real passion wasn’t for fame nor pro-status; his passion was in progressing his skiing and equipment used while doing so. Eric has taken complete ownership of designing the EHP and now, Renegade signature line. He’s gaining recognition beyond his standout skiing performances for his design influence and by result, winning over the most technically savvy fan base known to this sport.
CR JOHNSON There has never been a more accomplished, progressive yet enduring athlete in the sport of skiing as CR Johnson. He has been a professional skier since high school, growing up at Squaw Valley, this California based freeskier has been critically involved in developing signature products for 4FRNT. From the clothing prints, to our cut-and-sewn fleece to his very own CRJ signature ski. CR Johnson is the real deal. He’s a proud owner and believer in the future of skiing and when you meet him, he’ll make you a believer too.
NIKLAS KARLSTRÖM We linked up with Niklas shortly after taking his near podium pipe performance at Winter X. He was young, very Swedish and very talented. What he did; he did flawlessly. We were naturally attracted to this and later his passion for ski design because of his casual approach and seamless execution. When we sought out the design of the TNK, it came to fruition within a month. This process is often several months and later, more months of testing. He knew what he wanted, we did what he asked and since, he’s become a very influential skier for our brand. If you don’t find him in front of the lens these days, he’s most likely behind it, producing his own annual edits, titled ”Ski or Die.”

Eight years later the itch has finally reared its head and we are proud to announce our perceived third dimension of 4FRNT, The White Room. Initially operating as sole prototyping environment that allowed us to collaborate with riders in building and testing shapes quickly has now led itself into something much larger. We have set out to use this environment to regain the passion we embody in building skis. There’s no question nor replacement for how well our European suppliers build the majority of our skis and we have no intention of disrupting that outlet. When we initially embarked on 4FRNT, ski building quickly became an obsession. It would be easier to say that all we thought about was geometries and materials but that’s only half of it. Our obsession was also centered around building a ski production environment. Later realizing the growth of the brand was quickly outpacing our production capabilities, we sent production to the experts in Europe in an effort to focus our time towards building the brand and managing an administration. The time spent on other initiatives was well accepted and we found other ways to occupy a once obsession in resin, fiberglass and conundrums.
The White Room will be a place in our facility of Salt Lake where we can tweak and produce small runs of skis on the fly. We believe the only way a company is truly rider owned is if riders eventually build skis and learn the production side of design as well. You can expect alternative construction techniques, refined camber profiles as well a material list we otherwise do not use within our other collections. The White Room is a place we hold sacred and each pair of skis that it produces will be sacred in their own right. 4FRNT is built on a foundation of rider collaboration and innovation. The White Room is our laboratory for the future.

When the deep gets deeper, there’s the Renegade. Think back to when you saw Seven Sunny Days from MSP. The segment that earned Eric the coveted “Full Throttle Award” at Powder Magazines video awards. He closed on a shot from the heli where he stamped out a boot back in the snow that read “Renegade.”

Eric Hjorleifson p: Blake Jorgenson
“I designed the EHP with a goal to create a ski that utilizes the concept behind reverse camber/side-cut skis but still incorporates traditional ski design to provide a versatile stable platform in all types of snow. The long gradual tip/ tail radius/shape give the ski great flotation in powder and enable you to wash, plane and scrub your turns creating a surf like sensation. This long tip/tail shape also gives the EHP a shorter running surface making them more responsive and easier to turn on hard snow. The tail shape was designed to maximize performance in powder snow. The pintail shape sinks into the snow allowing a more forward mounting position giving the ski a much more responsive, centered and balanced feel.”

“I have been looking for a tool that will enable me to make the entire mountain my playground. I designed the CRJ to be that playful all-mountain ski. The dimensions make this the ultimate powder tool that caters to all conditions. With “traditional” sidecut and camber underfoot, this ski carves through firm snow. The reverse sidecut and rocker towards the tip and tail make this ski ideal for skiing powder and playing with every feature on the mountain.”

“ALL Mromuanntcaein Perfo designed for
I ski the Madonna almost every day. It performs extremely well around the entire mountain and in various conditions including powder because of its 90 mm waist! What I love most about this ski though is its softer flex. I used to ski super stiff skis, but now I’m proud to admit that I’m a changed woman! The softer flex changed the way I ski the mountain and it also changed my perspective, allowing me to use more features and obstacles to my satisfaction! It’s also my favorite ski in the park with its bigger side-cut. Carving off jumps has never been so easy and fun!
