About Me

I am a creative product designer with a lateral approach to problem solving. A natural observer, I enjoy in depth research of subjects and users before diving into ideation and development. I am passionate about translating emerging trends into products of the future. With a keen eye for detail, and the patience for endless iteration, my designs aim to solve problems while instilling lifestyle changes and values. As a second year BSc Product Design student, I have worked on a variety of briefs ranging from footwear, to stationery design, and gained skills in SolidWorks, KeyShot, and the Adobe Suite. As an environment enthusiast aiming to be a responsible designer, I want to work to find solutions that can not only reduce waste but inspire people to join the fight against climate change.

Inspiration Pentatonic is a German circular economy product design brand, The process of designing out waste for the creation of advanced consumer products is their specialty. By designing sustainably for top brands like Nike, Burger King and Starbucks, they prove that with efficient design reforms, sustainability and economic growth can go hand-in-hand. Christoph Neiman is a popular artist and illustrator who is best known for the iconic covers he creates for The New Yorker magazine. Creating art out of simple everyday objects and poignant cover stories with relevant messages, this designer’s skill for visual communication is memorable. Neri Oxman, is a professor at the MIT Media Lab whose approach is to augment the relationship between built, natural, and biological environments, and her products by employing design principles inspired and engineered by Nature. I am inspired by her work in “Material Ecology”, which made me realise that it is possible for humans to collaborate and harmonise with Nature even with a modern style of living. As a responsible designer, I aspire to build for a circular economy that can cohabitate with the living world. I also want to be an effective communicator who can not only design a better world, but also inspire people to willingly adopt good practice.


Research in the Design Process Research is essential for seamless design that effectively solves a problem. Without accurate facts to back it up, I think any design will fail before it is even launched. Research is essential to find a gap in the market, and pursue development based on data derived from reports and statistics. For me, research begins at step 1, and goes on till the very end of the design process. Beginning with descriptive research that focuses on the “what” question, to surveys and focus groups that help identify the “Who/ What/ When/ Why/ How”, research continues through design development. This helps to identify the best technology, materials, and mechanisms, and while using ergonomic study to guide the form. At the end of the project, primary research tools are again used to gain user feedback to guide future iterations. Research is the most crucial element of my design process without which I wouldn’t know where to begin.

Design Values Sustainability and consideration for the environment is probably my greatest value, in and out of design. The planet is suffering under the weight of poor design choices, followed by poor consumer choices. The narrative nowadays is for conscious consumption because what is consumed drives what is produced; however, I believe the greater responsibility is in the hands of the designer. I believe I am responsible for creating sustainable products that fit into a future circular economy- where they will be used indefinitely without being dumped in landfill. As an environmental designer, it is not enough to simply produce biodegradable or recyclable products- it is also my duty to lessen the burden of over-consumption and encourage a mass narrative around taking responsibility for personal carbon footprint. Today, sustainability is more important than ever because we are at a tipping point, it is now or never. In this fight against climate change, designers play a crucial role.

Project 1- Design for Production BeeSmart is a unique system elephant deterrent system to prevent human-elephant conflicts in the North- Eastern forests of India. The product utilises the elephants’ instinctive fear of bees (UN Environment Programme, 2021), using them as a tool to scare away the elephants before they enter human settlements and land in a situation of mananimal conflict. The design is animal-centric, presenting a natural structure for bees to adopt as their own, aiming to mimic the wild hive-building experience. A wax-less foundation with 2.5-metre-high canopy, and a make-ityourself framework, infused with a delicious scent of lemon grass oil, BeeSmart will attract bee populations for nesting. The product will be marketed as a solution for peaceful co-existence to India’s government and non-government animal welfare organisations, like Wildlife Protection Society of India, World Wildlife Fund for India, etc. BeeSmart has the potential to save 100s of human and elephant lives in North-East India, and the hope to aid the revival of the beautiful endangered species of Asian Elephants.

Project 2- Dyson The Dyson Space is a solution to reduce the risk of COVID-19 on public transport. The most effective way to reduce the spread of the virus is by wearing masks and social distancing (Watson, 2020). However, this can become increasingly difficult as lock-downs reopen and more people travel for work or leisure. The design is a piece of wearable technology, that is tied around the waist with an elastic belt. Arm-like structures from the belt can be extended out by the click of a button, creating a 1 metre space between the user and other people around them. Having been designed for the pandemic, it’s relevance will be no longer for a few years- to reduce the impact of the product on landfill, it is designed for disassembly and consequential recycling. Designed for safety during the commuting process, it can be used inside tubes, in queues for tickets, or security checks to maintain a safe distance from those around the user. By wearing the Dyson Space, the user is confident about their safety, as it is now within their control to socially distance without worrying about those around them.


Conducting primary research in the form of user study and quantitative analysis, and secondary research by literature review, I concluded that social distancing was the key area for development.

Project 3- Cambridge Consultants The Electrical Muscle Stimulation (EMS) Strengthening Support Sleeve is medical device that allows patients to self-administer EMS therapy while they are on bed rest.

92 92% of muscle mass is lost from the legs.

Muscle Atrophy, or the degeneration of muscle, is a common sideeffect of bed-rest and leaves the patient feeling weak and in severe cases, unable to walk (Knight, J., Nigam, Y. and Jones, A., 2009). This requires them to go back to the hospital for physiotherapy to recover the lost muscle. To alleviate the pressure from the NHS, this product provides EMS treatment at home. To use the product, the patient wears the sock-like support sleevethis has pockets that position themselves on the right spots where the treatment is to be administered, The EMS patches, which are connected to the terminal box are slipped into the pockets, and using the supporting application, the treatment begins. The app is a comprehensive database that answers the patient’s questions and

Goals and Aspirations

After graduating from university, I see myself working in the sustainable development industry. I am particularly interested in the development of unconventional materials and clean energy systems. I wish to pursue a Masters’ degree in sustainable design or project management, which will allow me to diversify my portfolio and work to make a difference. As a reliable worker, I see myself working in the corporate sector, where my ideal workspace would be creative and autonomous, but also provide a clear set of rules to work within. My credo is to create a design system that follows the principles of circular economy; ensuring that what is produced gets reused indefinitely. Thus, revising the path of industrial design-productionwaste structure, and creating an order that follows the cycle of nature where the same resources are replenished.
