Design Portfolio Devishi Kapoor BSc (Hons) Product Design
Hello, I am an enthusiastic product design engineer, currently persuing BSc Product Design at Nottingham Trent University. With a creative approach, I have a passion for translating emerging trends into products of the future. Guided by in-depth research and iteration, I ensure that my product can connect with the user at a personal level. I have worked on a variety of design briefs, and created a range of concepts like footwear, board games and homeware. Proficient in-

Air Pillow Massager Brief Create a product to upcycle non-toxic, heat resistant silicone fingers that are bi-product of the aeronautical industry. The fingers should form an essential component of the design. Grade Obtained- High 2.1
Awarded Highly Commended Design
Conducting some primary research telephonically and online, the following results were tabulated. International Air Transport Association2016- 3.8 billion passengers 2035 (prediction)7.2 billion passengers
80% find travel pillows cumbersome to carry when not in use.
2004 to 201112.3% to 16.2% of the population diagnosed with a neck/back pain problem. Rate of increase- 4.09% annually.
American Airlines and United Airlines88 percent of travellers felt some sort of neck and back pain.
57% suffer from neck and back pain during air travel.
User Market /36 years old / family of 4 / corporate professional / frequent flyer / avid reader / suffers from cervical pain
Design Development
Careful considerations and modifications to the initial idea, that led to the emergence of the compressible travel pillow massager.
100mm
Main Features- Massager - Compressible - Self-inflating - Re-chargable A luxurious design with a utilitarian component makes it elegant and suitable for its audience.

The Future of Nike Brief Design a Nike sneaker that will be released in the year 2030 by studying futuristic trends and forecasting the changes that will take place in a decade. The values of Nike need to be seemlessly implemented in the project. Grade Obtained- High 2.1
Trends and Predictions for the Shoe Industry
Brand Analysis
Other research guiding the project- Diversity in terms of user range, sports and brand ambassdors - Active participation in social movements - Use of silver nano-particles as anti-microbials is banned due to its effect on sea-life - Sustainable “Move to Zero campaign

Hydroponics on Mars Brief Group Project Aluminium is a versatile metal, and can be used to create various products. One of the most common processes used for manufacturing aluminium based products is extrusion. Design a product for the architecture and construction industry using extruded aluminium as a key component. Grade Obtained- High 2.2
Ideation Process
Mars is increasingly being seen as the back-up planet for Earth, a planet that could potentially support human life. American company, SpaceX is sending civilians and cargo to Mars as early as 2022. The hydroponics system is built assuming Mars to be the future home- therefore a need for creating a sustainable food source.
Aluminium 6000 Series- Alloyed with Silicone and Magnesium
- Heat-treatable - Corrosion resistance - Easily extruded - Structural strength - Formability - Easy welding fabrication
Atomsphere and Water - Average temperature is -60°C (varition range –125°C to 20°C). - Rich iron soil- red rusty colour. - 21 million km³ of ice has been recorded on the polar surface, with more underground.

Democratic Manufacturing Brief Assemble the Creality 10 S 3D Printer and write a detailed user manual explaining the steps for assmeby. Redesign a classic board game and 3D print the counters from the 3D printer you assembled. Produce the game board as well as the game counters. Grade Obtained- High 2.1
Redesigned the popular children’s game, Ludo into a six player board with the theme of Scooby Doo. The game does not have a separate storage box and playing board. Instead, the board itselffolds up to form its own box and packaging. The counters were 3D printed on the Creality 10-S printer that was built in groups. I build CAD models of Scooby counters and a special fast-play dice that would be used to the play the game with added features.
3-D Printed Game Counters
Interlocking PLA bodies with vinyl stickers that bulid up to form Scooby Doo
The pieces can be rearranged and mixed with one another to form comical characters that are amusing for young children.
The game will be played with 2 dice-
Traditional number diceThe number that is rolled will be moved forward by the counter.
NEW fast play diceMonster/ Magnifier Faces! When rolled to the Magnifier, the player moves 6 in the forward direction, and when rolled the Monster, player moves 3 in the backward direction.
Creality 10S- Installation Manual Assembling the Creality 10S 3D printer involved following a given manual. After successfully building and testing the 3D printer, a new, comprehensive manual was designed.
A 30 page manual listing steps from carefully unboxing and constructing, all the way to installating and using the Creality software.
There is special emphasis on software usage as the procedure can be complicated to understand for first-time 3D printer users. Link to the complete manualhttps://issuu.com/devishi.designs/docs/user_guide
Spell-Pal Brief Design an product based on a brief, with the theme of “The Future of Stationery from the Italian stationery company, Venvstas. The product needs to at least one of the following qualities- functional, strong, and beatiful. Independent project from Venvstas competition brief
Dyslexia is a lifelong learning disability that can present challenges on a daily basis. It cannot be cured, but with support, it can be managed so as to not hinder the personal growth. Support to improve reading and writing skills help those with the problem to be successful at school and work.

The tool consists of 2 parts - a grip with a scanner, and a display device. The grip scans the child’s words and characters, transmitting it a to display device. The design caters to a niche audience and will be bought by individuals or inclusive schools. It will be marketed at £149.99. The rubber grip is stored inside the screen-device, facing inwards to prevent scratches, which is then placed in the child’s pencil case.

Research and User Background Asian Elephants are an endangered species with 40,000 to 50,000 left in the wild, with India home to 59%.
Threats
Loss of habitat Poaching
Man-animal conflict Illegal ivory trade
Man-animal conflict loss of life and property on both sides. Stakeholders1. Asian elephant 2. Farmer The ConflictThe hungry elephants enter the crop fields and the farmers, trying to protect their field, clash with the animal. This results in injury, loss of life, both animal and man, as well as destruction of crop.
In Assam, since 2010, 249 jumbos and 761 people lost their lives. 754.89 hectares of cropland was damaged in 2018-19. Elephants’ instinctive fear- Bees. Bees cause painful stings in sensitive areas like the trunk and eyes, making elephants wary of them.
Design Concept and Development
Making models out of sponge, paper and card to iteratively develop the design.
Initial conceptAn open bee-hive to naturally prevent elephants from entering a situation of man-elephant conflict.
Design ConsiderationsHeight of the pole to correspond to the natural height of hives and match the elephants’ eye and ear level. The dome size was adjusted to allow growth of the hive.
Adding Features
Developed Form
LEDs
Mini Solar Panel
Other electronic components placed inside
The light agitates the bees, increasing their buzzing, and scaring the elephants. A mini solar panel to source the power for the LEDs, motion sensor and alert.
An alert will be be sent to be the Forest Guards informing them about the jumbos.
Grounding of the product- 3/5th of the overground length is buried underground. This is higher than the recommended 1/3rd. Ensuring strength and stablity in case elephants try to destruct the structure.
