THE RICHLY IMAGINED FUTURE We were challenged with the task of imagining a new future where the tools, shells, networks, and settlement would be a reflection of our own beliefs and values as designers and humans. Our richly imagined future is for those who are willing to see their limits and become their optimal self. Communities are built around our personal values, emotional electricity and relationship with nature.

OUR STORY BEGINS.
In 2030, China became the most powerful country in the world and conquered the majority of Asia. Japan is the Innovation Capital and is used as an incubator for all technological advancements. A Meta War is present and countries fighting to surpass one another in a race towards colonizing the waters of the world. Work productivity in Japan has tripled and the amount of deaths heighten to inconceivable levels due to Karoshi, otherwise known as death from overwork. In order for colonies to advance, people are overworking themselves to the point of emotional and physically paralysis. Once they have reached the stage of a emotionless corpse, the Japanese headhunt the very best workers from around the world to replace the stagnant souls.
People are now reliant on the Dream State to give them more time in their day to relax. Those who participate in the Dream State tend to experience 10 hours within 1 hour; creating an illusion of added time by slowing down the mind. This time alleviates Kiroshi and provides fabricated moments of freedom, relaxation and invigoration. The effects of stress and poor health are not reduced, making the people think they have done themselves a service.. The year is now 2050 and planet earth is in disarray. The Meta War has ended and the after effects are more apparent than ever before. In 2030, when virtual reality was made accessible to the public, human interaction in the physical realm dissipated. Virtual reality was an ingenious gadget but has now turned into another way of life. It has taken over the spirits of people and now a sea of lost souls can only live in their own worlds. The Sun is no longer looked at as a radiant creation of nature because UV lights and climate controlled rooms provide a greater satisfaction. The streets are no longer safe to walk because the animals and scoundrels roam wild and free. The home is no longer where the heart is as they have transformed into fortresses where food and necessities are delivered as needed. It’s as if they are holding tanks to encapsulate the people and their dreams.
LIVING AN EMOTIONLESS REALITY. Happiness is now a withered aura that very few can sense. The few who can sense the happy semblance want more from their lives, they want to feel again. They need to feel what they once felt before. These emotions cannot be let go of, they need to resurrect and embody the human species once again. The people need to experience these thoughts and emotions in the physical realm within a community that has values and security that virtual reality cannot offer.
COME BACK TO WHERE YOU WERE MEANT TO BE.
Welcome the Kinfolk, a collective of communities that long for the sense of touch, emotion and purpose. They have desires and ambitions that need fulfilling. The Kinfolk is full of like minded individuals that work together in oneness with nature. The ones who hear about Kinfolk are those who still have an independent mind and soul. These people are able to recognized one another through their emotional electricity and body intuition. They are able to see, feel and understand the change that lies within one another. The Kinfolk are the only people on the planet who can Emotik, emotionally hack, the virtual reality infrastructure. At 00:01h during every other 24h day, the Kinfolk embed a brief pause in the network. This pause only attracts those who need change, immediately. These are the people who want to explore themselves and live to their fullest potential. The ones who long for natures comfort, human interaction and possibility. At 00:02h, there are 110 people who begin their Limbo Journey.
LIMBO
リ ン ボ ー DREAMING IS PERCEPTION WITHOUT CONSTRAINT.
Limbo is designed using dynamic and thoughtfully disruptive dream frameworks. A dream framework consists of experiences that induce select emotions; fear, happiness, sadness, love and anger. These emotions are to be experienced exclusively, no two emotions will be felt at a single time. The Kinfolk analyze each Limbo experience in regards to what secondary and tertiary emotions come out of each dream framework. For example, a dreamer who is enduring love may experience affection, lust and longing with the tertiary outcome of adoration, attraction and sentimentality. This informs the Kinfolk that the dreamer will be able to interact and participate within a communal setting because they are able to feel a genuine connection towards another human. The Limbo journey is an avenue to enlightenment where one will seek their purpose in life and live to their highest possible self.
In a world where virtual experiences have taken over daily living and activities, many people have lost their purpose to live and are left without any meaning to their lives. Their life has merged with data driven scenarios, which conduct a mimicry of reality without any boundaries. The virtual world offers limitless capabilities, however with that comes the loss of meaningful value. Value that can only be experienced in reality.. and in your dreams. Through our findings, we believe that dreams are an extension of the reality that one is living in. Reality influences the sub-consciousness. Though dreams are not considered reality, they are a projected model of reality. They are infinite playing grounds that are subjectively created and perceived, simultaneously, by the dreamer. A reason why we were very interested in exploring a dream journey with the potential of achieving greater meaning. When dreaming, we can accomplish what is known as an out of body experience. Essentially our brain increases its activity and detaches from the body (metaphorically speaking of course). And like virtual reality, our brains have a virtual generator. It is called imagination. Because of this, dreams are limitless and have the ability to defy the impossible and make real, in your mind. Now, we instantly knew the power of imagination, and playing with someone else’s mind can be extremely trimerous and unethical. But what if we had the capability of guiding someone in their dream? What if dreams were our calling to come back to reality? What if dreams could guide someone into realization of how special they are and how important of a role they play in this world?

DREAM TO EXPERIENCE THE STRONGEST EMOTIONS TO ARRIVE AT A DISCOVERY.
GIVING OURSELVES SOME CONTEXT To give us a sense of what we are trying to achieve, we looked into the Shikoku Pilgrimage of Japan. The pilgrimage is a journey that people undertake to achieve a point of self-actualization. This journey entails many experiences that slowly re-shape the way one thinks and views life. This was the seed to our idea of using dreams as a means to find ones true purpose. However we were challenged with a problem: like VR, dreams are not real, which makes it difficult to instill a lasting lesson. How can we bring something back to reality from a sub-consciousness & altered reality experience? Answer: If one experiences something so strong and powerful, it will be ingrained into ones mind and view of life. An utterly meaningful experience. We believe that the only thing to create such influences is emotions. In an average lifetime, in 2015, we spend around 20 years sleeping and 5-6 years of those years are dedicated to dreaming. That is a substantially large amount of time dreaming, but the truth is, we do not remember all of it. Some people remember dreams more than others, but the fact of the matter is, there are countless lost thoughts existing in our minds. However, when we do remember our dreams it usually tends to be a scenario or situation that was somehow special and different to us. It could be something horrific, or it could just be downright fun. But something always comes back with you after experiencing subjective imaginary thoughts. A feeling. An emotion. A comprehendible example would be nightmares. While every action, reaction and experience is happening in your head, the state of mind or feeling is so real, that when you wake up from it, it is still apparent, and you question if you are in the clear of the danger. Emotions can transcend through the very dimension of reality and sub-consciousness.

TRANSCENDS ALL
ENTERING LIMBO We have developed an entirely unique way to join the Kinfolk communities. To successfully be a part of a Kinfolk, you are asked to achieve the extremely difficult task of realizing your true purpose and potential. The process of doing so, includes participants to travel to the destinations where our communities are established to enter your sub-conscious; to enter your dream, where one can see nothing more than who he or she truly is. The geographical locations are key to the dreamer since their memories of the environment will be the beginning foundation and playing ground for the dreamer. Our main goal is to guide the dreamers to experience certain emotions. With much consideration, we have selected five emotions for our potential citizens to overcome or to give themselves up to. The emotions are: FEAR, HAPPINESS, SADNESS, ANGER, and LOVE. These five emotions will act as progression gates for the dreamer to achieve self-actualization. Since you can not fully experience more than one emotion at a time, these five gates will be five different dreams; with addition to a sixth: the final dream to face your past self and achieve your vision of your desired future, and your purpose. For each fall into limbo, dreamers are required to choose which location they desire to dream in, with a final decision after succeeding through the gates, to live their life in one of these places as a Kinfolk.

LIMBO: DREAM DICTATED BY FEAR We have all felt fear. Fear is dictated by choice and overcoming it is in the hands of the beholder. We see fear as a facilitator to change behaviors. When threatened, we become reactive and respond to the threat. Using our cognitive and learning abilities we gain an understanding of the situation we are, or might be in which leads to the greater feeling of fear. Understanding leads to judgment, leads to fear, leads to choice. We have developed a set of categories to create different dream frameworks, for the dreamer to be the creator of their journey. LIMBO: DREAM DICTATED BY HAPPINESS There are times in our lives where we are bliss, where everything makes sense and is just right. Unfortunately, those moment do not last and are not experienced by everyone. Getting into the collective of Kinfolk, we believe every citizen should experience happiness to create their desired reality. Happiness is a mental state of well-being. Like many of the other emotions, it is a subjective experience that has the potential to change one's view of life. Furthering our dream constructions, we have also developed a framework to build the appropriate playground for the dreamer to experience happiness. LIMBO: DREAM DICTATED BY SADNESS Along with experiencing positive emotional electricity, we aim to balance out the entire Limbo journey by making our dreamers feel negative repercussions. We do this to strengthen a mind, not destroy it. Experiencing sadness and despair can lead to personal re-definition. Re—defining what you stand for and believe in. By entering reality after experiencing a new level of sadness, our future citizens will have a sense of gratitude and fail to take things for granted. LIMBO: DREAM DICTATED BY ANGER Anger is a test of patience and ultimately a test for what one stands for. Feeling high levels of anger can lead to wrongful decision making, destroying relationships and potentially hinders your health. We scaled anger to be ranged from mild irritation – frustration – rage. Overcoming such strong feelings can lead to an improved mindset of patience and peace of mind. We want our citizens to be strong, and if they can overcome the feeling of pure anger, we know, most importantly, that they trust themselves. We categorized the anger experience into four categories. LIMBO: DREAM DICTATED BY LOVE Love is arguably be the strongest emotion that one can experience. Many of us are surrounded by love that casts zeal impacts in our everyday lives. To live a quality life means to love and to be loved. Although we are aware that love can stem from objects, actions & experiences, and people, we decided to focus on the love that can blossom between humans. Person to person; as we believe that is the strongest and most unique form that can only be achieved between souls. For our in-dream journey we divided love into three types, for the intent of building the dream. LOVE MODELS: Familiarity love [family mutual love] Friendships-relationships [the network of love] Romantic love [Loving someone so much that they are constantly a part of your consciousness]

LIMBO: FINAL DREAM [REALIZATION] DREAM DICTATED BY WILLPOWER AND SUBJECTIVE DESIRES In this dreamscape, users are put through a final stage to over come one last obstacle. This gate is the moment where realization is embodied by the user and they feel a rush of emotion and physical pain. This is an evident moment that proves one is meant to succeed in life and reach the point of desire to live anyway they choose. This is the moment one develops their purpose, a unique purpose. One that is made sense by only you. The obstacle in the dream is a projection of the old you, the you you used to know. Ridding of the past life is the first step to creating a new one. You are challenged to confront what you stood for before so that you can take the first step to inspire a new life to live for.

There is no selection process by a greater power in the declaration of the chosen Kinfolk. The chosen Kinfolk is a meaningful connection made from what was experience in Limbo. It is natural to connect your dreams to a common and shared reality. If you choose to accept your Wild Kinfolk, you are asked to sell all of your belongings and move into the community. Once there, you will be welcomed by your Kinfolk and begin a new life. A life that is full of wonder and possibility. This is the life you longed for all along. You came back to reality and it is a better life. You will live in structured security that abides by core values; balance, creativity, quality, change, play and integrity.

Balance to the Kinfolk is to experience and do things in moderation. Balance will help you understand your limits and capabilities while at the same time knowing when to push yourself. To have a positive lifestyle it is important to bring balance into your emotions, health, work and social life. Within the community you will demonstrate balance between responsibilities and play. You will learn to balance your emotions and recognize fairness between others.

Creativity to the Kinfolk is the catalyst for all things that can be brought to life. Valuing creativity means to consider the process of creation and ideas that are presented by others. For society to flourish, ideas must be respected and valued to fully understand and appreciate the potential of each one. When others are able to express freely to one another, an environment is built where positivity, optimism and determination are enforced, in turn accelerating productivity.

Quality to the Kinfolk is the determination in one who strives to be the best possibility version of themselves. This is someone who truly believes in quality life. Being satisfied is not an option, living an unsatisfied life is much more rewarding because it forces constant change to strive for greatness. Living a qualitative life is sustainable because actions are turned into habits. These habits are results of intelligent effort.

Play to the Kinfolk is the key to living a sane life. One needs to activity engage in play. Through the course of history, society has functioned solely on a work now, play later basis. Play is a mindset where the ego is detached from our immediate surroundings and an activity of the generative imaginations take place. This creativity is gained through experience and understanding. Play can facility learning as a tool.

Integrity to the Kinfolk means upholding your values and staying true to what you believe in. One lives are their morals and ethical values through out every aspect of their life. being transparent to yourself and others, means to express honesty fully when communication with others. Honesty builds trust between others and strengthens relationships, making them more meaningful. By valuing transparent and honest in society, you are able to empathic and understand each other more clearly.

BREATHE INTO A NEW LIFE WITH UNTOLD OPPORTUNITIES Your role in the community is determined by your journey and there is emphasis on learning the different roles within the community. One day, you may find yourself helping out in the vegetable garden and the next repairing the solar cells. By learning the various roles within the community, we are better able to embrace each other and understand the greater needs and motivations of individuals. The Kinfolk live and breath in possibility. Your Kinfolk is where the heart lies, they are your family now and they are home. You are here because they are here and they are here because you are here. You will need to work together, believe in one another and you will feel, this is life. This is what it means to live, the Kinfolk is life. Alongside your community, there are others located all over the planet. You are free to roam between the Kinfolk collective during travel years. These communities form the collective that makes everything possible.
MACHIECH
KINFOLK: MACHIECH /MAH-CH(AY)/
The Machiech Kinfolk live in concrete landscapes around the world and there are 5 unique geo-locations where they can live passionately in; Shanghai, New York, Singapore and Hong Kong. These environments provide Machieh Kinfolk with individual bubbles of tranquility while surrounded by industry. The people strive in the creation of systems-thinking using new-age philosophies to expand their communities through outreach into the virtual world.
NETSUEH
KINFOLK: NETSUEH /NET-SW(AY)/
The Netsueh Kinfolk are powered by fiery emotional electricity and live in hot zones; Kenya, Mumbai, Peru and Arizona. The Netsueh procreate like animals. They are passionate lovers of life and of each other. This is the most dense community of all 5 Wild Kinfolk because of the birth rate. Netsueh strive to teach the youth kinfolk the values of society. The youth are not capable of understanding the corruption of the virtual world because all they know is what they were born into.
KUREH
KINFOLK: KUREH /KOO-RUH-W(AY)/
The Kureh Kinfolk live in the words coldest zones; Arctic, Antarctic, Norway and Switzerland. They believe in utilizing the land, environment and climate conditions to their fullest potential. The Kureh are the leaders of all Kinfolks in Water Gathering. The cold brisk air is translated into Collated Clouds that float between all five Kinfolk communities providing them with purified air. The people that live in the Kureh, are passionate about creating solutions that solve energy related issues. They are integral in their word and would help a fellow Kinfolk in a heartbeat.
KUSAEH
KINFOLK: KUSAEH /KUH-S(AY)/
The Kusaeh Kinfolk live in the vegetative regions; Canada, Madagascar, Iceland, Sri Lanka and New Zealand. Of all the Kinfolk communities, the Kusaeh are one in the same as Nature. They are like blossoming trees that reach new heights with every breath they take. They are both teachers and learners when developing creations of balance that can be applied by all Kinfolk in their actions. They have developed many new-age philosophies that blend technology and natures presence together in unity.
MIZUEH
KINFOLK: MIZUEH /MIH-ZOO(AY)/
The Mizueh Kinfolk live on the islands that still exist after the waters of the world were colonized; Tahiti, Fiji, Bali. They are nomadic sea people that are logical, selfless and believe in a lifestyle where no one will ever become a slave to their materialistic attachments. Breaking free, being flexible and starting from scratch time after time is what keeps the Mizueh Kinfolk in constant harmonious change. Tomorrow never comes for this community because they are all about living in the now. Being too preoccupied about the future and the consequences of current actions, limit one’s ability to live in the present because there will never be another present.
THE NEW RELATIONSHIP INDIVIDUALS AND OBJEC CONNECTING OUR VALUES TO CURRENT OBJECTS & SYSTEM
PS BETWEEN CTS. The tools, shells, networks, and environments in the Kinfolk communities were based off of an analysis of current objects, buildings, environments, and communities we use to signify our identity to others and ourselves. This analysis involved criticizing and recognizing products, services networks, and environments of their compatibility with design as second nature values.
T.S.N.E [VALUE 1] For examples of things meeting compatibility with the value of balance, we looked at the iPhone, and martial arts. The iPhone serves as both a tool for utilitarian purposes and also acts as a platform for play, displaying balance between responsibilities and play. Applications put responsibilities and play and the tip of your finger on one device, allowing the iPhone to seamlessly help the user transition between work and play. Martial arts and is an act of expressing oneself honestly, and provides an example of how one can balance their emotions. By practicing a martial art by yourself and with others, a sense of comradery is built between training partners along with a better understanding of you own emotions. This is attained by the physical and mental challenges each martial art present through training or real physical encounters.

T.S.N.E [VALUE 2] With the value of creativity we looked at Facebook, Kickstarter, and unmarked CNC’d firearms. Created in 2004, Facebook provides a digital platform for those who wanted to connect and share with others through the Internet. [1] Users are able to express their opinions and values on the net, and the creation of a profile allows users to reinvent themselves, giving them the freedom to make themselves appear as who they want themselves to be. KickStarter is a global crowdsourcing web platform that enables users to gain funding for a project and pursue their creative endeavours. [2] The website gives its users the freedom to create a product without the constraints of working for a bigger company. It put everything in the control of the user and allows them to fund their projects in an efficient way. There are some cases though in which creativity is not used for a positive social change. Gun laws in the United States allow gun makers to create incomplete CNC’d components for firearms that can be sold online to anyone. This provides an opportunity for people to create unmarked firearms or “ghost guns” that put the public safety at risk. [3] The CNC mill, a technological innovation, was not used for positive social change and provides an example of the use of a tool that doesn’t meet the value of creativity.

T.S.N.E [VALUE 3] The country of Finland, and the technological innovation of genetically modified food meet the value of quality, while we see the Islamic state of Iraq falls short of that. Finland has been noticed for highest quality of living in the world, and has one of the most progressive governments. The debate around genetically modified organisms, or GMOs and their safety has been going on since companies like Monsanto began genetically modifying plant cells. Though the effects of GMO’s are still being studied, the intent of most GMO’s is to produce better quality crops that could either provide more nutrients for the consumers, or crops that would be more resilient to change in temperatures. [5] The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant militants, otherwise known as ISIS, have published a manifesto for women living under their rule, including marriage at nine, and education to the age of 15. The manifesto limits the education of women because they believe that the greatness of a woman’s, and the purpose of their existence is the divine duty of motherhood. By decreasing the quality of education for women, they are oppressing and preventing them from making a change in society.

Uber is a technology company that provides a mobile application to help people find quick transportation around a city. [6] Uber divers are connected to people looking for a ride through the app, which facilitates the monetary transaction. These drivers usually work with Uber as a part time job where they are able to make extra income on the side while working full time jobs. Drivers of Uber are free to work when they want and where they want, changing the transportation market, and freeing people from the constraints of a traditional occupation. Social media outlets such as Instagram, give its users the opportunity to reinvent themselves through the Internet. No matter who you are or where you’ve came from, Instagram provides its users with a platform to showcase their life without having to provide anything about their past. Instagram, is a manifestation of who you see yourself to be, thus allowing its users to change themselves, and create a future not defined by their past. Apple makes change for positive adaptation through the OS updates they provide. By providing updates, Apple allows their products to perform better by keeping their software up to date with the system it lives in. Changes are only made to improve the system and how the product performs.

An example of a system that provides this is professional sport leagues. Professional athletes are able to have work as play because their job is to perform in a sport in which they enjoy. As long as one enjoys the work they do, and believe it impacts their life positively, their work can be considered play. Cock fighting does not meet the value of play because it doesn’t encourage positive social interaction. It is a blood sport that has been around for hundreds of years, and is currently used as a form of gambling. Participants are required to have their cocks fight till the death, resulting in a dead animal, and the loss of money from some of the parties involved. [7] It is not possible for a blood sport fought till death, to have positive social interaction simply due to the fact that someone is always at a loss. LeapFrog is a technology-based learning product for the education of children from infancy through grade school that meets the value of play because its ability to turn education into play. The product provides children with an opportunity to play while learning. The gamification of education allows children to enjoy their experience of learning while at the same time opening their minds to alternative methods of learning.

With Tesla, Elon Musk set out to accelerate the advent of sustainable transport by bringing compelling mass-market electric cars to market as soon as possible. [8]. Founded in 2003, Tesla has grown to be one of the most prominent electric car manufacturers, defying conventional production and retail methods. Elon Musk has a richly imagined future, which he believes he can build through his companies. The company provides a warranty that covers damage due to a fire, even if due to driver error. The warranty was implemented in order to make clear the confidence Tesla has in their product, and to eliminate any misperceptions regarding the integrity of their technology and the safety of their cars. Vice is an example of a media outlet that meets the value of integrity because it aims to transparent with the current event around the world. Vice Media is a print magazine and website focused on arts, culture, and new topics. It’s known for its guerrilla journalist style of reporting and covers a broad range of current issues around the world. Founded 1994 in Montreal as a government funded project, Vice has grown to include the work of journalists, columnists, fiction writers, graphic artists and cartoonists, and photographers. [9] Their political and cultural stance is often unclear because it tries to be as transparent possible. Along with being transparent, integrity also entails being honest and taking responsibility for your actions. From 2009-2011 Toyota issues millions of recalls on models for having faulty foot pedals. Toyota took full responsibility for the design flaw that cost them and its dealers a minimum of $54 million a day in lost revenue across the United States, to service all affected vehicles. By accepting that the flaw was their fault, Toyota accepted responsibility, ensuring that the public was safe in their vehicles.

NEW CONSUMPTION MODELS The Kinfolk are built using the same infrastructure and consumption models. There are models for specific tools, shells and networks that lay within social interactions, technological advances, environmental sustainability, economic stability and political system equality. The consumption models in which the Kinfolk abide by produce an astronomical level of excellence in all that the people of the communities do.
SOCIAL [INTERACTION] Within the Kinfolk communities, everybody can be a teacher and everyone can be a learner. Unscheduled, timeless, unstructured play in the make-believe worlds, integrated into the early lives of children, provides them with the kind of self-awareness and self-regulation that contribute to politically effective adults. The make-believe worlds are those created in the mind of a Young Kin without the help of technology. The education system implemented into the communities are challenged to bring out the best possible potential in all learners. Learning is subjective as no two people have the same learning styles. By leveraging the Kinfolk’s need for constant distraction and change, education is integrated into a multi-platform environment. What used to be known as a “classroom� are now known as Real Sense Spaces that are enabled through objects, systems and modes of thinking.
POLITICAL [SYSTEM EQUALITY] The Five Wild Kinfolk are lead by the Imagineering Government. Thought experiments and imagination consideration of political systems have long been at the center of progressive political thought. New connective and networking technologies manifested in entire online worlds, demonstrate the possibilities of community, collaboration and new power structures. The microcosm of the imagination within these parallel spaces reveals latent political urges and can have real world effect, both socially and politically. The people of the Kinfolk communities are put at the forefront of all decisions made that in turn will affect the greater population. The hope, imagination and innovative ideas of the people become more integral when defining the political environment. Instant communication, increased accountability and tapping into the zeitgeist have propelled into stratospheric and transformative phenomena by the hope and imagination for a better future.
TECHNOLOGY [ADVANCEMENTS] TECHNOLOGY’S ROLE In our depicted future, technological advances will be discrete and less noticed by the people. It will not be clouded with excitement and anticipation by the general public. It will be the means to enhance human capability in a natural and unobtrusive way, making our nature influenced life a much easier one to live in. Many of our imagined technologies are perfected innovations that are extensions of today’s advancements (2015). However, many of our ideas breathe new life in areas of health, transportation, everyday tools, and communication. HEALTHCARE Although our society is an ultimatum to eradicate the mass virtual induction, technology is seen as a helping tool to make our everyday lives more involved and informed. One technological aspect where our Kinfolks continue to focus on is healthcare. What will be the future of medical aid and medical equipment and how accessible will they be? We believe that health will continue to be at the utmost importance. There will be a medical aid system & device in each home. There will be no need for a massive community hospital. We believe the medical technological advances should be as accessible to the people as possible. Having a seamless machine in each home with enable awareness amongst families and residents on their current or projected health status, and would treat to minor – mild damage. Everyone has the capabilities to regulate their own level of life. Along with the implementation of in home healthcare, we created a different way to consume medicine and nutrients. With our projected future, convenience without compromise is a goal in every action and innovation. With GMOs becoming more apparent in our current life, we now imagine a world where all the nutrients a single person needs throughout the day can be packaged into a single pill. For sickness, or any mild damage, a M+ will include biotechnology that is capable of fixing any discomfort expressed. We incorporated the idea of pill-taking to food & nutrition consumption. While retaining the cultural aspect to food and the food making process, we will have one meal with the community everyday. Citizens can take ‘nutrition’ pills when they choose and additional sustenance any other time throughout the day. With these few noted tools for health and wellness, we believe our society will be thriving towards absolute satisfaction, using the provided technology.
TRANSPORTATION Our Kinfolk communities are rather large so we created a transportation system that would be integrated seamlessly throughout the Kinfolks. We aim to implement an infrastructure that would make the experience of travelling from point A to point B efficient and safe; one that is also environmentally sustainable. This involves strategically putting in place vacuum tubes that would spread out across the entire terrain, with tubes branching off from each other. Essentially, it is a large scaled subway system infrastructure. These tubes would be guiding and transporting a one-person pod. The idea is that any one can load themselves into a pod, choose their final or on-route destinations and your chosen pod will take you through the tube transport system. We believe this would be the most efficient way to travel without any effort involved. Automation will be taken over by structured systems. In our world, man can fly. The future of privatized vehicles are wearables. You are the vehicle. Citizens have to be the appropriate age and get certain certification to use this device. To provide a sense of context, the device would further iteration and advancements of a jet pack. These are self piloted machines that allow individuals to experience travelling in a much more personal way. Our dreams of flying are here. TOOLS We challenged ourselves to imagine the everyday tools that would have a place in our projected future. At this time, we have advanced far beyond the opportunities the “internet of things” provided us with. It has now transcended into being the “Internet of Natural Things”, where Nanotechnology provides us almost limitless possibilities that would further our everyday experience in this society. The IOnT was developed when the Internet advanced in connectivity and dictation, it can now move atoms and molecules around. Programmable matter. The user controls matter. Computers will have become so miniscule that it is able to attach to molecular structure to that of non-living substances. This is the state of visualizing data, an experience that extends beyond any screen, augmented and virtual reality. This is our way of pushing every-day computing; by using nature as a means of providing a data conducted interface.
We have a piece of technology that breaks barriers. An envisioned innovation that could truly change someone’s view on life. It is not available to be used by everyone and can only be used when an individual needs it. Dream state technology provides capabilities of constructing a foundation for an individual to dream in. Essentially laying the groundwork for the user to experience. However, this is not used to create the scenario or situation that the user dreams off, it is only used to create a skeleton or structure for the users dream to unfold. A dream brief, if you may. This technology provides us with a window in to another world. A world of subjective sub-consciousness. These capabilities would be manifested into a device that induces the users into surreal mental depths. The purpose of this technology is to instill a sense of purpose to each individual. To bring a message from their deepest thoughts into reality. This machine should only be used by the people who are lost and are searching for their own value in the world that they live in. For educational purposes, we believe that artificial intelligence will be the connector to an encyclopedia of information and data. AI will be used as the main tool for young learners who love to ask questions and value the idea of exploration and discovery. Using anticipatory computing, artificial intelligence has exceeded far surpass the barriers of today (2015). The young citizens of our Kinfolks will be growing up with their assigned AI that will be viewed as their educational companion. An entity to help children understand all the complications and simplicities to life. COMMUNICATION Since our society will be made up of many different ethnic backgrounds, we had to create a solution to break the language barrier. We invented an in-ear device that would translate all foreign languages into a comprehendible language, real-time. By 2030, this technology will have been perfected for standardization. As for a replacement to the telephone, this in-ear device will support the function of connecting to any one person inside that specific Kinfolk. This is a tool that is used by everyone, which creates a network of communication throughout the environment. With this people do not have to worry about communication problems, and would be utilize the provided capabilities in an efficient manner.
ENVIRONMENT [SUSTAINABILITY] Preservation is one of the core values to the Kinfolk communities. It is the connection to nature. The Kinfolk value and respect all that the earth provides them with. For this reason, one of the most prestigious roles in the community is nature management. By preserving the environment, the Kinfolk know they can preserve their communities for years to come. - Food, building materials and energy are all part of the natural environment. - Nature can teach you lessons through meditation and observation. - Sustaining the natural environment is a full time job. Power is an important part of the Kinfolks lives as it provides them with heating and cooling, depending on the climate. They have learned from the ways of virtual reality and their use of nuclear fusion, to see the damage that it has caused to the surroundings. They harness the natural energy provided by nature, wind water and sun. By using solar panels, windmills and hydro generators, the Kinfolk are able to sustain themselves with minimized environmental impact.
ECONOMIC [STABILITY] TIME CURRENCY: [trade skills for goods, ie your time for somebody elses] The Kinfolk communities rely on fairness and balance of responsibilities. They are not motivated by money or profit. Within the communities, there are no forms of currency, but a first come first serve trade of skills for skills, goods for goods, or skills for goods basis. To acquire a service or good in the community, Kinfolk are required to partake in fair trade. The more each Kinfolk does for others without getting anything in return, the more priority they get when there is a waiting list for a service or good. By eliminating the idea of putting a monetary value on anything, each community member builds a more meaningful relationship with each other. SKILL TRADE: [trading skills with other citizens to increase human capabilities] The kinfolk are encouraged to learn as many skills and responsibilities as possible as they live in the community. By learning and sharing skills, their priority in receiving their service or goods rises. Sharing and learning skills develops a more well rounded society in which there will always be someone available to perform a needed task within the community. This also builds an understanding and appreciation for each profession of responsibility and coincides with the communities drive to help bring out the best possible potential in all members.
