Over-the-Wing Engine-Mount Design

HondaJet’s Over-the-Wing Engine-Mount (OTWEM) design solves two challenges, beautifully: It achieves wave-drag reduction so efficiently, it actually out-performs clean-wing designs. It eliminates engine-mount fuselage encroachment for a larger, more spacious cabin and greater cargo stowage capacity. Jet owners no longer have to decide between performance and comfort. HondaJet delivers both.

The HondaJet Natural-Laminar Flow (NLF) airfoil and nose design boosts fuel efficiency and improves performance, simultaneously: It exhibits a high maximum lift coefficient and low profile drag coefficients at climb and cruise, resulting in high fuel efficiency and class-leading performance. It results in a small nosedown pitching moment coefficient at high speeds and reduced loss in maximum lift coefficient due to leading-edge contamination, providing responsive and reassuring handling characteristics.
