MSzK A PROLOGUE MSZK is a project born out of curiosity. I wanted to create something that would put to the test my self-taught knowledge in photography. A year before this project I started taking self portraits with no outstanding results. All of them were a mixture of error and success: understanding my angles, possibilities according to physique and the shadows that both, artificial and natural light would show on camera. The credit on the masks go to Wintecroft, for I did this project as another experiment, never imagined I would like it enough to assemble a booklet composition. There are 6 different masks in this essay, the dragon, the wolf, the bear, the rabbit, the deer and the bird. Although Portraits seem to be similar to each other, they do look different according to the mask I wear. Masks were made out of Opaline paper, assembled and cut by hand, a tulle ribbon helped tie them to my head. I hope you enjoy the images I captured.

The first mask in the series, the dragon is one of my favourites. After the shoot I wished to wear the mask as an every-day accessory. But it would be hard to eat, drive or go to the toilet.

The concept of the wolf on sheep’s skin was a very recurrent image. I decided the wolf should express some sexual desire, without being to desperate or looking too tacky.

DULCI SENEX JUVENES RECENS MOLLIA.
A bear probably has not many sexual directives, personally I like more the muscled ones. But when the act of a bear looking for honey came to my mind I would only express a naughty desire of thirst.

A rabbit is always depicted as an animal with quick reproductive capabilities. I do not understand yet why is it always a symbol for easter. A mammals they do not lay eggs.

A deer, more like a stag in this case, is a symbol of nature. Strong, appealing and attractive to pure maidens. Gerda rode one on her long trip to find Kay.

Birds fly. I want to fly. I wish I did. Sometimes is hard to be human, strength goes aways so often and if you cannot figure out yourself then you can't go far.
