BON APPÉTIT from Khao Suey to Orangekitchens
The social circle (wink, wink) A family that overeats together stays together! We live by this.
“Prachi’s the reason why I would never learn to cook!” – Purva Grover “I am too busy eating to say anything.” – Sandeepan Chaudhuri
Some love to eat, some love to cook, some love to taste, some love to serve, some love to experiment & and some simply love the food. Period. That’s what defines Prachi.
“People who love to eat are always the best people.” – Julia Child

Eat with your eyes!
“Food. I like to read about it. I dream about it. I like to just look at it. And of course I enjoy eating it. Every little morsel.” – Prachi Grover
“If you’re afraid of butter, use cream.” – Julia Child
“I think every woman should have a blowtorch.” – Julia Child
“Some people like to paint pictures, or do gardening, or build a boat in the basement. Other people get a tremendous pleasure out of the kitchen, because cooking is just as creative and imaginative an activity as drawing, or woodcarving, or music.” – Julia Child
“Good olive oil, good butter, milk - they give food taste and depth and a richness that you can’t reproduce with low-fat ingredients.” – Nigella Lawson
“I don’t believe you can ever really cook unless you love eating.” – Nigella Lawson
Cook, cry, co-ordinate, cooperate & celebrate: Yes, we did almost a little of all of this during our journey towards Master Chef 2011. I love surprises, especially when they translate into shocks for others. They just make me happier. So I enrolled Ms.Grover for Master Chef 2011, of course without informing her. I can be quite secretive. Now little did I know that she would not just get a call but also make it like
all the way to Mumbai! A small interview on the phone was followed by a more than long queue outside a studio in Noida; and I patiently waited outside ALONE for more than eight hours, while Ms.Grover with her special Christmas cake got herself a ticket to the Mumbai land. Next, they wanted to shoot a day in her life and the DH (as Ms.Grover mentions Sandeepan on her blog) assisted. The tears began to roll in when it was time to take what we will for the rest of our lives mention as the ‘the toughest decision’ of her life i.e. to leave behind Sara for a few days. A few emotional e-mails and SMSes were exchanged between junior and senior Grover, a pep talk and full support came from DH, and a lot of love flowed from the celeb parents; the result madam left! Yummy moments full of pride followed. Yippee, yummy, yippee: Grover, you made us super duper happy and proud.
71 and still counting… I have a bookrack next to my bed that houses my modest collection of cookbooks/food memoirs. Ahem...71 when I last counted them. Each time I order a new one I am asked why do you need so many cookbooks/ food memoirs? Call it a fetish, weakness or whatever...psychological disorder, anyone? But the truth is that there are so many lovely talented people in the world each opening up their hearts and kitchens to me and there is so much to learn from them; unfamiliar cuisines, ingredients, stories behind each of their recipes, cooking techniques, writing styles plus all of them make great bedtime reading. To my credit, I try and use them all. And trust me I DO cook a lot:) I can’t recall the exact moment when I fell in love with the idea of spending my entire life (and money:)) with cookbooks/food memoirs but I clearly remember flipping through my mum’s very fancy cake book each day after school (And just for your information we never baked anything from there for it had the most complicated five tier wedding cakes) and copying recipes for her in her diary from all the food sections of the magazines that she would rent.
