Rahu and Ketu are GRAHA: and not planets.But beyond doubt they are said to be Chaya Graha:.Graha is defined as an astronomical body in the sky that moves, but not only that which moves around the sun .Besides what has been explained by masters ,in my view RAHU is very clear mirror made of MAYA i.e the illusions of nature Or it is powerful but naughty manifestation of MAYA.It gives wealth ,bliss, knowledge,wisdom and may/can/will boost a person's spiritually in accordance with his/her "Karm' of previous life what has not been enjoyed or suffered.While performing PUJNAM we recite " BRAHMA MURARI TRIPURANT KARI BHANU SHAHSI BHUMISUTTOAU BUDHAKSHA GURUSHCHA SHUKRAH SHANI RAHUยบ KETVAHยบ SARVE GRAHAH SHANTIKARA BHAVANTU." No where is claimed in Vedic Astrology that Rahu and Ketu can be seen with the help of any telescope or with naked eyes. Rahu and Ketu are actually classified as Chaya Graha . Rahu and Ketu are actually the points of intersection of the paths of the Sun and the Moon as they travel in the celestial sphere.Graha is defined as an astronomical body in the sky that moves, but it is not mentioned that they move around the sun.Like Rau or Ketu even Moon does not move around the sun.The Moon completes its orbit around the Earth in approximately 27.32 days (a sidereal month).But Moon is considered as GraH: in Astrology.We also consider that Yat Brahmande Tat Pinde means what is in universe is present within us.Exalted or debiliated position of Sun,Moon,Mars,Mercury,Jupiter,Venus,Saturn,Rahu and Ketu can be seen on palm or other body parts of any person.We always talk about GraH: and not about Planet.Our Scriptures remind us about what are out side in the universe are within us Viz Panchtattva, Sun,Moon,Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus,Saturn,Rahu,ketu etc. Maharshi Parashar Ji says in chapter 2nd, Verse 8-13- The beings with more Jivatmansha are (mortal) beings. The high degree of Paramatmansha from the grahas (viz. Surya and others), incarnated as Rama, Krishna, etc. After completing the mission, the Paramatmanshas of the grahas merge back into the respective grahas. The Jivatma portions from the grahas take birth as human beings and live their lives according to their Karmas and again merge back in the grahas. At the time of the Great Destruction, the grahas themselves merge in Lord Vishnu. A person who knows all of these will become versed in the knowledge of the past, present, and future. Without knowledge of Jyotish these cannot be known. Hence, everyone should have a knowledge of Jyotish, particularly the Brahmin. A person being devoid of knowledge of Jyotish, blaming this Vedic Science, will go to the hell called 'Raurava', and will be born again, but blind. First of all newcomers should know difference between a GraH: and a planet. Moon , Rahu and Ketu are not planets.They are called GRAH:.
